@@Hurricanesfan123 clearly someone is dog water at the sport. It can look like a dive but in reality ur not expecting someone to tap the back of ur skate. Just a little push can make u go down awkwardly
@@rush3r975 As someone who has been tripped like that at practice many times by that 1 asshole who does it EVERY GODDAMN TIME. He clearly sold it, but it’s still a penalty whether he sold it or not.
to be fair i could see how he could lose his balance based on how he was standing but.. still looks like he played it out to be worse then what it should have been
@@The_TreyWay id say the only thing he embellished was after the fall cuz the biggest problem w goalie gear is it can’t move like that so if u get ur foot moved like that and u jump little bit from the startle your gonna go down
@@The_TreyWay people rly not getting how easy it is to fall in that stuff I’ve fallen a few time this year just taking a turn too tight to go behind the net and I play for a top ten 16 team 😂
@@spelunkerd Haha soccer. I played hockey my whole youth and never once dove. The only time I've ever dove in my life was in a soccer game when I played my last two years of high school. Game was getting so out of control with the other team diving and no calls for it, so I pull a theatrical-ass dive on a guy and get the call in my favor haha
@@spelunkerd played soccer my whole life and never dove, but my dad was a 70's era player and those guys were like hockey players in that if they went down it was cause they couldn't stay up.
Yeah I think he really was gonna fall becuz it’s so easy to fall on skates when getting bumped on your skate from behind, but he acted like he was shot in a war lmfao
@@FathomMane the same level of contact and reaction you'd see in soccer. That was a dive. A flop. He took the contact as an opportunity to draw a penalty and it backfired, as it should have. No room in hockey for coward shit like that
Announcers are totally wrong. As a goalie I've had this happen to me. Goalie skates are balanced differently. Highly unstable when you shift a lot weight to your heels which is what happened here.
I am a former goalie and believe me If u get tripped from behind u lose your ballance allot easier then u think. And now i am a Refferee For U20. In my opinon. No dive, Goalie interferrence. Good call :)
@@danyheatleyall-star3677 I had this happen to me on Thursday night actually. Even with all of the padding I landed funny on my arm and it didn’t feel good. Your leg gets taken out from under you unexpectedly and you have no time to brace for impact with the ice.
Looks like a dive, but looks like much worse of a dive than it actually is. Bobrovsky was looking up cuz the puck was deflected and was tracking it, which makes it look theatrical
@@N_manMETA11 you think Steve and bob are biased? I don’t think they are, they’re definitely pens fans but if the pens take a penalty or something they’ll agree with it if it’s the right call
@@pashka3k Ah yes, a timeless clip of a man with a beard making another man in 30lbs of pads YEET himself to the ice like he just got shot at point blank with a 12ga xD Nah I remember that one all to well, I was in the arena the night it happened. That's why I said "in a while" :P
As bad as the Predators look this year, their commentators aren't wrong. Bob went from playing hockey to playing soccer in a matter of seconds and it actually worked lol. - PS: Has anyone else noticed how since Bob left Columbus, he suddenly started playing terribly? He left Columbus with a .917 SV%, and then finished his first season in Florida with a .900 SV%. This year he is even worse (.897 SV%), however the Panthers offense has really been showing up this season, which has Bob's record at 7-2-2.
100% that my team is pathetic and embarrassing this year LOL. We absolutely suck. But c’mon, that type of play is horrible. He clearly flopped. Don’t make hockey like soccer. He was barely touched.
That gets a 10 from the US Judge, a 10 from the Canadian Judge and a 10 from the Russian Judge. A perfect score and the gold metal in diving goes to Bob.
Refs this season are an absolute joke and something needs to be done. They are literally blind for some teams and for others they catch even the smallest thing that wasnt even a real penalty
I can tell none of you have ever played goalie, if a player clips you from behind out of nowhere while you’re looking up, you’re gonna fall back as well. Also since Forsberg is digging into the ice battling for room, I’m sure there was plenty of power when he clipped bob
I’m a goalie as well. With all your weight pushing forwards, a small push to the back of the leg throws you completely off balance. That’s what happened here.
Nah it was a complete sell job. I played goaltender and the leg coming up like that is a clear indication of a sell job. Only way a goaltender's leg comes up like that is with forceful contact, which there was barely any. Bob wasn't favoring any leg or anything. His acting should result in a fine
@@FoxyHockey27 yeah bro you're right... like a few minutes later... they shot a puck at the goalie.... no response to that either. . that team must hate him
You can tell there was some contact that probably tripped his balance a bit. Did he oversell to draw a penalty? Hell yes. But If he did this in game 7 of the Stanley Cup everyone would praise him for going the extra mile for his team. It’s all a matter of perspective.
Unpopular opinion but I believe he would have fallen over regardless of whether he embellished or not. As we all know if you are trying to skate backward and someone unexpectedly kicks your foot forward (no matter how hard) you will most likely fall. Its really hard to tell the extent of the contact in slow mo. Even getting punched in the face doesn't look that bad in slow mo. But the way he rolled on the ice after was pretty embarrassing. IMO not a dive but definitely embellishing.
Major dive. Anyone in the NHL should be fined for diving and put on blast publicly. I hate games that revolve around selling penalties. It's a shame because I love Bob.
There might have been a slight embellishment on the goalies part, but at 0:44 (slow the speed down) you can clearly see he spun and took out the skate inside the blue paint. If you're heavy and your weight is suddenly shifted to your heel your leg will kick up like that as you fall. Goalie interference is the right call at the end of the day.
Definitely a dive but also Definitely a call. The sad thing is if Bob just stood there and didn't react nothing would get called. Look at crosby when he first started, he embellished because he knew if he didn't he wouldn't get calls
I played hockey 14 years, if he would have done that to me, I would have knocked him out, give you a reason to really go down, that is embarrassing to anyone who has ever cared about hockey
Have these hosts played our goalie position???! Doesn’t seem like it. They didn’t understand the dynamics of our pads and little things can make a difference.
There is something called being knocked off balance too. If you’re off balance as a goalie, there is no stopping your momentum from pulling you back. And when you fall down your legs are going to go up. I don’t really think he flopped a whole lot, just think he lost his balance and the ref shouldn’t have called it.
Was this the first time the goalie had been contacted this game? Get the replays and watch them in real-time. Slow motion distorts it. Go back to the original, albeit not the best shot. Watch Forsberg's legs as he pumps his stride He's moving. The announcer's and everyone who bought their attempted dive, should be embarrassed. Easy way to prevent this. Stop running and interfering with goalies. "Rule 639 | Tripping/Clipping/Leg Checking/Slew Footing (Note 1) Tripping is the act of placing a stick, knee, foot, arm, hand or elbow in such a manner that causes his opponent to lose balance or fall. (Note 2) Clipping is the act of deliberately leaving the feet or lowering the body for the purpose of making contact with the opponent at or below the knees. (Note 3) Leg check is the act of extending the leg from the front or from behind for the purpose of tripping the opponent. (Note 4) Slew Footing is the act of a player using his leg or foot to knock or kick an opponent's feet from under him. This is done by pushing an opponent's upper body backwards with an arm or elbow at the same time using a forward motion of his leg causing the opponent to fall to the ice. (a) A minor or major penalty shall be assessed under this rule for any of the actions described above. (Note) However, no penalty shall be assessed under this rule if, in the opinion of the Referee, the player was clearly hook-checking or poke-checking the puck for the purpose of gaining possession. (b) A major penalty plus a game misconduct penalty shall be assessed to any player who injures an opponent as a result of tripping, clipping, leg checking or slew footing. "
I saw contact but it was the "minor inconvenience" kind, not the "Tom Wilson just fucking cheap shotted me again" kind. Fine line. The man dived so hard he would have touched an NBA rim with his left leg.
Embellishment. It's technically different from a dive, because a dive is that there's no actual illegal or grey contact; whereas this is embellishment because he was in the blue paint and Forsberg's right foot definitely would have interfered with him if that shot was on net, so Bob exaggerated the contact to draw a call. So, not a dive but embellishment.
Front angle looks ridiculous, back angle looks like he was probably going to fall or at least find himself out of position if he tried to control himself. Obviously he sold it with embellishment.
Who here commenting it was a dive is a goalie and or has played hockey, you don't understand that we already have to have our weight rested backwards so having you leg pushed forward exaggerates that
If it looks like someone is shot by a sniper in the press box, dive. If they miraculously recover after the penalty is called, dive. I'm surprised some NHL teams don't use the magic spray that soccer players do. The dives by St Louis are magic spray worthy.
Panthers goalie can dive all he wants. What’s more embarrassing is preds fans would still shout “you suck it’s all your fault.” While losing 4-2. That’s the real embarrassment
Any goalie will tell you that wasn’t a dive. Announcers should stick to what they know which is play by play. If we wanted their opinion they would be analysts.
