I agree ONE HUNDRED PERCENT!!! I was in the market for a storage system; had to settle for the Rigid system. Availability is the best ability.
@VCGConstruction

It’s available and a rugged system! Which boxes did you get for the Ridgid system?
@ajkolo

ridgid boxes are a good system, i added the 22" ridgid probox along with the boxes the rolling set includes i highly recommend it, it snaps in and since it's open i would cap it with the pro organiser

i agree with everything you said in this video...has milwaukee given you a response? dewalt and ridgid both make great storage options but milwaukee has the advantage with more options and more products in the line. i bought ridgid boxes 2 years ago. when i ran out of shelf space on my van i bought the ridgid baskets and stacked them up in 3's and tie them down with a ratchet strap. They are great for parts & tool storage.

I am a dewalt man through and through and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to get the tough system. It’s like comparing a bicycle to a sports car... yes they are both forms of transportation but not even in the same class. The packout system is better in every single way from toughness to ease of use to plain old design. One button locking mechanism... what a dream. So for me my dewalt tools will be in a Milwaukee packout

I love my Milwaukee tools 🛠 $1000s worth of M18 saws, drills ,vacuums , radios and lights but after comparing mobile , weather proof and strength for my tool solutions. I decided to purchase Rigid because they were available and they have so much experience in making tool transport boxs.

Try to find the pieces and parts to any one of these systems at one time. Splitting the difference, sort of, I went with the Ridgid system. All these things require a certain amount of customization, but the Ridgid seemed the simplest. It might be just me, but when the DeWalt is loaded real heavy it doesn't feel very...uh... secure. And the Festool looks super cool, and neat, but it's incredibly expensive, and requires a lot of adapting. It seems like the Depot has most of the Ridgid units, most of the time (or can get them pretty quick).

the price you pay in US is a fraction of what we have to pay for it in UK . it's outrageously expensive. people are ordering it from the states then paying the import tax and shipping and it's still cheaper than buying it here.
@shootr181

So true! I've been wanting one for so long but I refuse to pay that high price. I already own a lot of milwaukee tools and would like to carry them in a pack out. What I ended up doing is buying the milwaukee electrician back pack and I leave what ever I don't need in the truck. Ridiculous pricing for packout!

AFter purchasing a full DeWalt toughsystem setup, I really really like it. I can chunk those boxes around like I don't care and they don't flinch. I came back to this video now that I've actually purchased a DeWalt system and I've actually experienced the product. I'll tell you though I'm really interested in Craftsman Versastack system. I know it'll probably be similar to DeWalt considering who owns both brands, but still I'm seeing some subtle changes in the products that's given me enough interest to want to see reviews of Craftsmans system.

I have the Rigid system and it has its pros and cons. It's available whenever I want to add to it, and has a lot of flexibility to it. They just added a clear covered small parts organizer that is not cheap, but seems quite sturdy. I just bought 2 of the Dewalt 10 bin organizers for $10 each at Depot, great deal. But they don't offer drawers like Dewalt does in their Tstak system. Lots of choices at lots of pricepoints, and each of us has to decide what works for us. Love the Milwaukee thou, just wished it was a little more competitively priced, and available where I live in NJ.

I 100% percent agree. I my self am a Milwaukee fan and own a lot of Miluakee tools. These pack out organizers are awsome but expensive. The prices are holding me back in purchasing some therefore I will be waiting for prices to go down so I dont know if that's good business on there part.

i agree 100% with you. I suffered from a similar problem after struggling to finally find the Milwaukee 46" tool chest and buying for regular price. Milwaukee last year right before the holiday introduce the 56" with a lot more features. I've asked if they will make a bigger chest all answers was probably not for a while.

I bought the Rigid boxes also. Rolling box, 1 midsize, 2 flats, 1 flat organizer & 1 tote/basket. Under $200 total and available in most local stores. I've heard of quite a few people having problems with Packout wheels breaking. Still would like to have Packout boxes but won't consider it til prices/availability is reasonable.

I worked for 5 years at an Ace Hardware, and the only competition I've seen for the Packout system is Ferguson plumbing supply. Ace is higher in price, but I have purchased several POs for my plumbing company and I am very happy with the system.

not sure what the problem is. I have more than 10 of the Milwaukee Packout boxes. I paid $79 each at Ganahl Lum ber in Pasadena CA. They have a thing called Frenzy Fridays. And the fully wheeled Packout is often featured on Frenzy Friday. $79 total cost. Thats right. BUT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH PACKOUTS. The first one I ever bought got a broken wheel last week. The plastic hub shattered while going down a staircase. The good folks at Milwaukee sent me a new wheel a week later

With tax around 290.00. Shipping was free. So you don’t save anything getting the the three boxes together as advertised on the site. I couldn’t even get the whole pack out to ship which is why I ordered them individually.

Firstly I’m 100% team Red. There’s is no other battery tools in my workshop. But I’m 100% behind you on this. Thanks VCG for supporting the working man. Milwaukee we support and love your gear, show us a little love back. If we roll up on a job site with your tools in a dewalt box, people will think we use dewalt tools. Not good advertising for Milwaukee is it.

Valid criticism. Although I just started converting from Craftsman 19.2 cordless over to Milwaukee with the 3 tool rolling Packout kit. I'm in no real rush even though I just ordered the large parts organizer through Home Depot and a set of Kaizen K'Nex so I can stack my Milwaukee corded Sawzall. I am toying with the idea of ordering one of those $99 M12 kits with the small organizer but I'm content to wait and see what the next deal offered is. It does crack me up that Packout arrived right around the time I decided to switch to a different cordless set. Feels like this is the mobile tool organizer system I've been waiting 20+ years for. The 'new' brushless technology is a big plus for me.
@VCGConstruction
@VCGConstruction 6 лет назад
TJ my advice is, if you can wait, "and i understand that some of us can't", fathers day should bring some good sales!! How did you like that craftsman set and why did you switch over?
@TJAllcot
@TJAllcot 6 лет назад
I got about 20 years out of some of the tools but recently had the chuck on my hammer drill fall off. Another drill is starting to give off a burning electronics smell when used so I don't expect it to last much longer. I needed a new hammer drill for a work project, so started looking around. Also the 19.2 batteries I have that still work are older, the smaller ones don't hold a charge as well as they used to. With the coming changes in Craftsman it seemed to be a good time to look at other options. Milwaukee has always held up extremely well for me, even considering the two Sawzalls I've killed over the years, the third is holding up very well. Their new stuff is on the pricey side but I figure my collection of Craftsman tools will hold out long enough to capitalize on bundle deals with the Packout and Fuel systems. I'm especially hoping to see the large Packout tool box with a light and either a M18 circular saw, impact gun or grinder sometime this year.

I think a lot of people will be glad you have pointed this out. The only people who will gain is those who get new tools and get the packout system for free. So it seems a trend with companies all over giving perks to new customers. Whatever happened to thinking of the loyal customer who has probably been buying their products for. Many years. My craftsman needed to be upgraded from the c3 series. Just ordered the system couldn't wait spent $500 on several packout boxes and totes, bought a m12 kit with carry case 2.0ah, 4.0 ah with impact, m18 hammer and impact with (2) 5.0ah batteries came with a packout storage case. Straight to the point 👍👍 I love milwuakee. I spend 500 on a three tool kit just to get the packout rolling case from homedepot. then i went on CPO to order the other three packouts. But wait there is more .... at homedepot they had a drill set that comes with one of the boxes, if i would of gotten it thats $900. but wait there is more then they have that m12 deal with the small box thats $100. if i would of bought it like thats $1000 not including tax and thats not the full system. Thats not right and i would of end up with tools that i already have just to have a packout system thats not complete. I hope that Milwaukee see it for them to do something about it👍👍👍

I understand your point totally... I got lucky at Thanksgiving time I got my hands on a Pack out System from Home Depot .. also bought the Dewalt System but the latches on the Pack out was a deal breaker, next in line w would be the Rigid System for the structure and the ease of the latches however the lid on the bottom bin has to come off completely ...a definite thumbs down ... I actually bought the Dewalt System for 129.00 on Wednesday and returned it on Thursday and got the Packout because of the ease of use with the latches...this worked for me you may want to see It for yourself, I'm glad I made the choice when I did because I've not seen it in the store anymore only available like you said by buying a host of other t tools, of which many I already have or don't need.

i got the big packout with the tool set but have been looking at getting the other ones. On HD you can buy them but then you have to buy some kind of padding so your tools dont just slide around. but right now i guess they are just sliding around in the big packout box. One day the prices will drop but who knows.

Hi Guys!!! Hey Vince, it's been over a year since this video was released. Each year, the 3-box Packout goes on sale for $199 at Home Depot. But, the other Packout accessories (soft storage, low-profile storage, etc.) seem to stay high priced. Do you still think the DeWalt system is more cost effective than the Packout? On a side note, the Ridgid storage system seems to have better quality and price than DeWalt or Milwaukee.
@bryanmcfarland967
@bryanmcfarland967 4 года назад
One thing I noticed is the Milwaukee Rolling Packout handle is so tall that people are having problems putting it in a car trunk or under a truck bed cover. I wish it's handle could be removed like the DeWalt Storage System v2.0 has. I think the handle on the Ridgid rolling box is short enough for it to fit a car trunk/truck bed cover.

Rigid is not on the same quality as the packout. But for the price they are decent. I have a trailer that loves to throw tools around. Everything has to be bomb proof and bolted down. I may hate it, but I will probably buy the packouts eventually. For now everything has been through bolted or has ratchet straps on it. Gets old.
@bryanmcfarland967
@bryanmcfarland967 4 года назад
@@wadopotato33 Great point Wade! Hey, I've been re-organizing my packout stuff, and the boxes are big time heavy with hand tools. I sometimes wonder if a rolling tool bag is better for hand tools. Do you use your Rigid boxes mostly for power tools or do you carry your hand tools in them too? I like the fact that boxes instead of bags keep my hand tools out of the rain.
@wadopotato33
@wadopotato33 4 года назад
@@bryanmcfarland967 Most of my tools stay inside an enclosed trailer or in a garage so they are out of the weather, but in rare case where I need just a few tools to get the job done they go under my tonneau cover and they do get wet. My tonneau cover is supposed to be waterproof, but it mostly just slows down the water. I like soft bags, but I am going for the packout because its' design is waterproof as well as bomb-proof. I want the packout plates for permanent attachment in my trailer. As far as I know, no other company makes anything like that.

Ha! I had to do EXACTLY the same thing. Can't use a system that isn't available. Still, NONE of the tool companies are giving us what we need in portable storage. Modular inserts that fit the tools themselves. A huge blow molded case for a drill or that monster for the bandsaw is just ridiculous. I'm tired of a box full of power tools in a pile. Efficient tool storage is what we want.

I totally agree on your assessment of these kits limitations. Some inserts are definitely called for. It sucks, but I found a company in the UK which has TONS of inserts for the Festool Systainers, Bosch boxes and a few others.The pieces are all CNC machined Baltic Birch components (shipped flat pack) ,which glue together (dovetail joints) and really expand the versatility if the kit boxes. I tried contacting them twice via email about a US distributor but no luck. The company is called Custom Solutions UK. I figured the shipping (in addition to British prices) would not make it worthwhile. May have to resort to a weekend in the shop making up some custom trays to achieve some "layered" storage

Milwaukee is still lacking an open-top 'basket' style box like the DeWALT and RIDGID. Got a stack of the RIDGID ones on my work van to carry my recovery machine, cylinders, and extra hoses - over a year later and Milwaukee STILL hasn't added an open-top basket tote to their system. Looking at buying the PACKOUT rolling box and adding a few of the smaller parts organizers for HVAC side-jobs and to store my tools and equipment in my garage when I'm not using it. Still waiting to pull the trigger...may go with the RIDGID because of the open-top boxes and lower cost....even though I'm fully invested in RED powertools(M12 + M18).

@@VCGConstruction The toolbags Milwaukee are coming out with for the Packout are pretty good, you can tell they've seen how popular VETO has become with tradesman and are stepping up their game to compete with that higher-end market. So far the non-Packout 'Jobsite Work Box' I bought a few years back has held up well riding around in my van; I reckon the Packout stuff is even tougher - still deciding exactly what I want and NEED to store and load-up all HVAC stuff.

If they knew all along that the packout are to be released ... they should have put voucher system inside all brand new tools purchase between certain time... atleast those who carry the collection gets the discount. Each voucher should vary depending on the price of the tools you buy... for instance a thermal scanner $1200 inside there will be a voucher for $150 towards packout only. Or soldering iron $150 -$25 towards packout...

Good info, I'm heavily invested in milwaukee tools, and as soon as I saw the dewalt tstack system come up I bought the full line. Tstacks are tough, versatile, and dirt cheap when compared to anything else out there. I've had over 30 cases for about five years now and they've held up just fine. I talk to tool reps all the time and let them know that when they drag to get their product out they're losing out on all the sales from guys that need the tool now. I have bought into every major 18v battery platform just have the ability to not hold out on buying what's needed at the moment.

If the head honchos at team RED were smart, they would give everyone points for buying the tools, which could be used toward the Packout System. Of course, they actually need to have some of the damn things available to do that. If you drop 800 to a grand on a new set of 18 volt tools, ya aughta get something for it besides the sales receipt. I remember first seeing this system on a YT video back last Summer. The video was produced by Milwaukee and stated the kit boxes would be available starting in September. My local lumberyard, which carries all the RED tools told me in November that the Packout wasn't yet available. It is bad enough that these guys are VERY late to the toolbox party, but to not have product available? Looks like a lot of RED tools will live in Black/ Yellow or Black/Orange boxes.

I work really hard for my money and I need a rolling system to unload my tools from work truck to my personal car sometimes way far away. I was considering saving for who knows how long for a packout system but the prices are STILL outrageous. I went to Home Depot a couple of days ago and found some straggler Dewalt tough system rolling boxes (the $150 set) that were dusty and had a couple of cracked clips from shipping stuck in the holiday leftovers. Put together a non-broken set between the two they had left and paid the mark down clearance price of $69! So after tax I paid $74 instead of probably $275 after tax for a packout. Honestly I love the DeWalt boxes so far, especially the small one. Its got so much room I was able to retire my large tool bag and backpack and not even need to use the middle box. I bunjie my small Craftsman tool bag and DeWalt parts organizer on top of the small and rolling bottom boxes stacked and I'm good to go. Really love the look of the packout but the price and availability STILL suck and its nearly Feb 2019! Totally not worth the extra money to me, we work too hard for that paycheck in the trades to spend that money foolishly.
