Serpentine Belt Squealing & Tensioner Flapping - Volkswagen Audi

Drive belt / Fan belt flapping and squealing noise common on VW, Audi & Skoda engines.
The fault is caused by the Alternator one way clutch pulley failing AKA alternator over running pulley.
In this video I go over the detailed process on how I found and fixed this fault.

I want to thank you, I have changed the tensioner belt fluid and it was still squeaking, especially while turning the steering wheel just went outside 7:00 am after watching your video mole grips on the tensioner locked off the alternator and hey presto it’s the alternator. Thank you so much for this video, it was a massive help, my next move was power steering pump. Thanks again dude

Hi guys Thank you very much for all the help you offer on your channel, very informative as well as Clear and concise technical data Could you possibly point me in the right direction regarding an issue with my 2006 Mk5 Golf 2.0 Tdi it’s turning over but not starting, I’ve disconnected the crank sensor but unfortunately it still isn’t starting.., where do I go from here guys…?

This is close to a noise I am hearing. 2009 VW rabbit. On start up there is a very loud wub, wub, wub sound inside the cabin and belt squeal on cold start up. it's harder to hear in the engine bay but easliy in the cabin. the sound diminishes after warm up, but can be heard at stops signs, etc. I recently replaced everything but the tensioners and Harmonic balancer. I did replace the pulleys on the tensioner though. When the autoshop replaced the alternator, they did not replace the belt so i replaced that and the squeal went away, but came back in 2 weeks. Does a flapping tensioner cause a low even rhythmic base sound in the cabin as well?

My alternator pulley is working fine and free wheels in one direction but the tensioner is still shaking like in the video, what's the next thing to check? Cheers

Hi Gerard I have a Skoda Octavia MK3 with the ea888 gen 3 with an odd squeal when only turning left and driving sometimes when not moving (nothing is rubbing in the wheel liner) I have replaced belt and tensioner it sounds very odd and can be heard easily do you have any ideas for me

do the crank pullys go bad? having some issues like tis but the pully looks like its wobbling

I noticed my ac clutch pulley does this new battery new alternator new pulley and new belt but the ac compressor pulle is rusty and when u turn it it makes sounds

I couldn't understand the test. Do you mean the pulley will turn even putting a screwdriver in the fins.? Putting a screwdriver there will make it impossible to turn by hand. Or..??
