I like that you left the lume on the hands and dial original. It's not a tool watch that you repaired for everyday use, it's a 50 year old limited edition. If you take the lume off you can't put it back!

Lume has a function which is important, also a watch of this vintage probably used tritium as a lume which is best got rid of and replaced by modern and safer lumes.

@@therealwatchdoctor looks to be much more modularized “classic” movement, retaining the complexity and beauty of the movement we all know and admire, much like a modern car engine vs one from the 50s, both are internal combustion, but today’s designed for easier maintenance. This coming from someone who went from a Heuer to a Rolex ;)

Hi, wonderful video as per usual. What a great skill you have, just like watching a artist paint a picture. Can I ask if you have re-finished the plates or are they just cleaned? They look a beautiful bead blasted type of finish on reassembly. All the best.

Hi, great video! I am doing the 7734 myself in a couple of days and wanted to prepare a bit. I have a question though, accoring to the service manual the watch needs moebius 9501(or, special grease for mechanism as they call it) on the hammer and hearts. However, you put 9010, the which is the finest oil instead of the thickest grease. Is there a particular reason you choose this oil over the grease? Kind regards, and thanks again for the great video!

Who prepares the titles for these videos? TAG didn’t become involved with Heuer until the mid-80s. I knew I had a problem with my now-former watchmaker when his assistant referred to a 40s - 50s era Heuer chronograph as a TAG. And it is TAG, for Techniques d’Avant Garde, not Tag.
@home-dp6oh

Love the content. I do have a couple of questions as a fellow watchmaker. Even though you are exceptionally careful, wouldn't it be more prudent to use brass tweezers when working on any plated movements so as not to possibly scratch the plates? I noticed what I consider to be excessive side shake on the mainspring barrel arbor when you were applying the lubrication. Did you address this off camera?

In the barrel which is better: hp 1300, jismaa blue or kluber p125?
@therealwatchdoctor
@therealwatchdoctor 3 года назад
I always use HP-1300, Kluber p125 can only be used in an automatic watch, where there is an extra spring. This is an extra safety, that the spring cannot break when overwinding, but that the outer spring slips. And you need to apply Kluber p125 there so that the outer spring slips smoothly. I am not familiar with Jismaa blue.
