This week we are working on this beautiful 1989 Porsche 944 Turbo. This is perhaps the nicest car we've had in the shop so far. It needs new belts and a few leaks addressed among other things.

I love my car! Thanks to your and your team for amazing work! And yes, I have removed those Cup things. previous owner...
@NC944er
@NC944er 3 года назад
I mean, the cup things were kind of fitting… every beer variety in Germany is assigned a special kind of cup. Kölsch, for example, comes in a slender 200-milliliter glass, while Hefeweizen is drunk out of a tall, half-liter glass with a bulge at the top, or the traditional mug. A Pilsner glass looks more like a wine glass with a beer belly. Perhaps the prior owner was so particular about his/her beer drinking cup that it warranted advertisement of said peculiarity? 🤣 🍺

Nice car, lucky for you it's almost brand new since the last owner almost never used it ! If you should loose anything it's the turbo sticker - anyone can see it's a turbo on the front, anyways.
@NC944er
@NC944er 3 года назад
@@happyfox711 The turbo sticker on the right fender is a factory installed decal, part number: 951-559-221-00. To remove it would reduce the car’s originality and therefore its value. To your point though, getting something like a personalized license plate with “TURBO” written on it might be going too far. 🤣
@A356REP

Brent another detailed, beautiful work! Thank you for sharing. It is amazing how many issues can crop up, even with the vehicle which seems in mint condition.

Absolutely! Never hurts to comb through and make sure everything is in good condition even on cars that seem to be in good condition! Thanks!

at the 8:55 mark you describe testing for vacumm leaks. Did you make that connection/fitting "white piece" for the compressor line to fit into the intercooler boot? Great video and thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge on the awesome 944 series!

Yes, I it is a roughly 2" pipe cap from the hardware store that we threaded a air fitting into. Thanks!

Hey. I'm trying to re-do all the bolts, clips etc. that are holding the dashboard, but can't seem to find any info on what kind of bolts/clips should be there (sizes etc?). I've tried the parts catalog, but these are the only bolts that are not listed there :) (the ones near the steering wheel that you mention in the video and the ones on top of this trim - 3 pieces). Do you maybe have a list of the sizes? Apparently the screws are 3,5x16mm but not sure about the clips :( Thanks for doing an epic job with the videos! They helped me fixing up my 944 a lot!

Most hardware stores carry the clips/speed nuts that will work. That's where I got these. While they differ slightly from the originals these will never fall out and get lost. Thanks!

Hi there. Great video and thanks for sharing it with us. I have a quick question please the lower balance shaft housing. Do you put silicon around the O-ring on the back to help seal it?
@edredas
@edredas 11 дней назад
I don’t use any silicone there. I just add a thin layer of oil to lubricate the O-ring to keep it from tearing during installation.

Hello. Do I need to remove the intake manifold to remove the oil water separator
@edredas
@edredas Год назад
Not necessarily but it helps tremendously. If you don’t remove the water pump you still need to remove a lot of other stuff to get it out and it’s a very tight squeeze.

So was the lower balance shaft seal what was causing the oil leak on the power steering bracket?
@edredas
@edredas 3 года назад
As far as we can tell. Trying to pinpoint the leaks can be a headache so we always replace all the seals and then check to see if anything is still leaking. I don't think we've ever had any leaks after replacing all the seals and you don't have to worry about other worn seals going out soon after.

@@edredas Been trying to islolate a leak in the same area every since I rebuilt the engine. Thought it was the oil galley plug behind the water pump. Replaced that using lock tight and epoxy, but still dripping a little after the engine runs. I did have that same balance shaft issue but left it (hard to turn). Just thinking
@edredas
@edredas 3 года назад
Hey sorry I've been busy lately and just trying to catch up on emails and comments. That could be your issue there with the balance-shaft. As soon as I corrected it it seems to have solved the issue. I also put some of that loctite on the bolts that went into the block where that bracket is. I hope that helps!
