Set up G-SYNC option missing from Nvidia Control Panel

If your graphics card and your monitor are both G-Sync compatible and you're still not seeing the "set up G-Sync" option, it's probably because your monitor isn't connected via display port... Hope I just saved you the 2 hours of troubleshooting I spent trying to figure this out...

I'm glad you had the requirements up on the screen, all I needed to do was connect it with DisplayPort to DisplayPort! Thanks man

i have a 1650 but that button still not appearing. after i enable freesync premium on my gsync capable monitor, that setup gsync button appeared.

I switched from a Dell 1440p G-Sync monitor to a brand new (lower resolution) 1080p Dell G2722HS G-Sync monitor. And as you experienced, G-sync no longer works! I'm using a half height NVIDIA Quadro card in a server, so buying a newer video card is not an option for me. Thank you Flame Ming for saving 2 hours of my life! I would suggest NVIDIA add this narrative to the Display tab in NVIDIA Control Panel. A little explanation can go a long way when adding the word "compatible" to g-sync makes it less compatible.

Decided to get a new monitor before the GPU market normalizes so I can be ready to get something good upgrading from my old 970. Didn't know G-sync and "G-sync compatible" were two different things, was wondering why I couldn't set up g-sync and it was driving me a little crazy. On my Acer XB373UGX, I made the stupid mistake of turning on "Oversync" which forces "Adaptive-Sync" off without telling you. Adaptive-sync is required for G-Sync to be activated. As soon as I fixed that, the "Set up G-Sync" menu showed up in the nVidia control panel.

Hey.. i have an rtx 3050 laptop with HDMI gpu out . My monitor is LG ULTRAGEAR and has freesync and gsync compatible. So i bought an active hdmi to dp converter but still gsync is not showing. do anyone knows why?

My monitor is g sync compatible with dp cable and my gpu is a 2060I tried to reconnect the cable but that didn't work I had the g sync setting before but now it just disssapeared

If you have free sync premium monitor it supports G-sync but you have to enable free sync in the monitors menu before you could see G-sync in control panel unless your monitor has free sync enabled by default than you don’t have to do anything but go to control panel

Just bought a Samsung odyssey g7 and still using GTX 970. Cant get the G Sync and HDR and failed to run 240hz too. why?

How do you enable g-sync on an external monitor for a laptop without display port?

I enabled Gsync on a freesync monitor but it shows a no signal black screen. 1070 and 144hz monitor. I had to undo the freesync setting in the monitor OSD to get it to display again. Now I cant turn the freesync on because the nVidia setting is set to Gsync and my monitor will lose its signal. How do I undo the setting in nVidia control panel?

Additional information you need to connect DP instead of HDMI for Gsync setting.

My issue was I had somehow disabled 'freesync' within the settings of the monitor itself, which caused 'setup G sync' to disappear altogether from Nvidia control panel. When I re-enabled it in the monitor settings, 'setup G sync' was once again showing in the NVIDIA control panel. Classic 'PICNIC' (problem in chair, not in computer).

For anyone still searching why the G-SYNC option is missing from the Nvidia Control Panel and are using a G-SYNC compatible monitor with DP cables. I had to enable the "Adaptive Sync" option on my XG270Q monitor and after I heard the connect/disconnect sound I saw the G-SYNC compatible monitor notification popped up and the option magically appeared. Hope it helps.

Seems like my issue is that my graphics card doesn't support G-Sync through HDMI... (GTX1060) I have an HDMI 2.1 cable but the card cannot output G-Sync through HDMI, from Nvidia's website I got this info: GTX 10-Series cards support G-Sync only over DisplayPort 1.2a GTX 16 series and RTX 20-Series support over HDMI as well... so guess I'll have to buy a DisplayPort 1.2a cable and see how it goes.

I'm having a problem with photoshop (too slow/hangs) after I got a 4K monitor. Help pages say under "Manage 3D settings", turn "Monitor technology" to "Fixed Refresh". I do not see "monitor technology". I am beginning to wonder if I also have a compatibility issue. My card is NVidia Quadro P1000. Got any ideas ?

Just enable Adaptive Sync on ur monitor settings, and after that G-SYNC will show up as an option on NVIDIA Control Panel , that's what I did with my LG UltraGear 27GN7 Monitor, was also searching for a issue. And yeah, use DP port instead of HDMI.

For LG monitors this function doesn't work on HDMI just on Display Port connection ;-)

But i have rtx 3070 and samsung g7, and i know that g sync should work cus every one on RU-vid have the option for g sync but not me, so the might be somthing elses for these problem.

Has anyone else tried go to Nvidia Control Pane > Manage 3D settings > Vertical Sync > adaptive Does this actually do anything? As I saw people recommend this as turning on "adaptive sync". Does this mean I have some sort of better vsync almost gsync but not quite gsync?... Also thank you a lot. I got a 960. I had done a quick google which said 600 series + are compatible with gsync. But that must be only for monitors with actual Gsync modules built-in.

I've got a GTX 1660 with a G-Sync Asus TUF monitor and my option to enable the setting is actually not there. I'm at a loss on what to do short of reinstalling Windows. As far as I know everything is working fine otherwise.

It needs to also be connected using a Display Port cable.

Ok but what if you do have said graphics card that has G-sync and you still don't see that option ? I have a GTX1060 Strix OC at 6GB which has G-sync but I can't see the option in NVCP. I have a Freesync monitor which supposedly shouldn't affect the G-sync option and it should still work, the monitor itself works just fine with Freesync enabled but the G-sync option is still missing. Anyone got any ideas? Monitor driver has been reinstalled multiple times, GPU driver is up to date, I have Win10 which is also up to date, I'm at a loss and don't know how to enable the stupid option cause I just can't make it show up. The only other option I have is to try a DP cable even though it's supposedly supported on HDMI as well. So for anyone reading this, just try a DP cable if you're on HDMI I guess?

Hope this helps but my pc dosent show it either (brand new 4080 pc), and i have an actual gsync monitor. But under "change resolution" you will be able to adjust the hz of your monitor. So mine is set to 240hz as i have a 244hz monitor.

I bought a gsync monitor to go with my 970 only to find out the 970 isn't gsync compatible? wtf. It says right on the 970 box "GSYNC". ( I still have the box ) We should be getting together and doing a class action. Anyone want to do this???
