Seth Holds a Surprise Inspection of His Monologue Writers in January 2024 

Scollins 100% earned his bread with that police academy joke.

Right after the cucumber joke I paused the video and said aloud to no one “show me that tank top, I know who’s fault this is”

Scollins was on FIRE in this Surprise Inspection. Seth should do one of these with all the writers present so the crowd can cheer each of them after hearing their bad jokes.

I love how everyone just collectively decided to embrace Matt, despite how terribly received his jokes were.

We demand more live attendance of the writers, so we can mess with Seth some more 😂

I think Seth’s is the only show where everyone knows the writers. I really don’t think another host gives props to them the way he does.

Scollins has never had a bad joke. Even the ones that show up on these surprise inspections are good. Moreover, nowadays I can usually tell with about 90% accuracy when its one of his so kudos to Seth for giving his writers such a tremendous spotlight where we can get to know them better

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate Ally Hord and Karen Chee for hardly ever showing up on Surprise Inspection? What better testament to their joke writing abilities is there? I wonder if when the writers turn their jokes for the day, they put an asterisk next to the ones they KNOW aren't up to snuff.

I know Seth is just playing to the crowd for more laughs and of course doesn't actually want anyone to boo the writers, but I'm also just glad that the audience's instinct was to cheer to celebrate Matt's hard work as a writer even if a few jokes don't land lmao. That's a logical response, knowing how much work everyone does every day - and I hope Matt had fun XD

C'mon Ben's joke about the epi-pen was brilliant, and Alllie's about Uranus was funny and Seth knows it! He was clearly using SI as an alibi to be able to tell them. Just as I'm starting to think Scollins puts forth some really dirty jokes to be featured on this segment, especially if they make Sth look bad.I'm not complaining, quite the opposite. I love everything about this! ❤

Surprise Inspection is so funny. I can always tell when it's Brian, Ian, or Scollins. Ian's jokes are terrible and he makes me laugh. Every stupid pun every stupid time. Brian's jokes are terrible but he makes me laugh. Every horrible pun, every horrible time. Scollins is terrible. I feel bad when I laugh. Which I do. Just about every time. I love how Surprise Inspection has taught us the vibe of the writers. Like how with Matt, you usually have to have some sort of secondary knowledge to get the joke. And how Allie has a weird and sometimes dark sense of humour, but it doesn't hold the creepy menace that Scollins has. I've noticed that Brian is like the mid point between Ian and Scollins. If a joke is a terrible but mostly harmless pun, it's Ian. If the joke makes your skin crawl, it's Scollins. If it's a pun that makes your skin crawl, or a dad joke that's just a little too dark, it's Brian. You ever notice the face Ian makes in his headshot looks like an expression an animator would give to a derpy cat? Ian is also sort of a good name for a cat. Detective Ian Buttons III. Smallest cop in Brooklyn, but gosh darn it, he gives it his best.
