Great stuff thank you- you’re easily one of the most athletic quick moving players out there.

I like the thought of trying to use more backhand as a option. I think it would develop the backhand more too. What do you think about your forehand flicks here? like at 4:52 ? He got a lot of these to work off of. I suppose the other option as you mentioned was just using a backhand flick there. If this was a best of 7 I think it would have been a required risk in game 6. Best of 5 is so fast and hard to adjust if you don't have a coach to identify these items.
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 3 года назад
Yes, I have been thinking about making my backhand more of a weapon but it really has not worked out, anytime I try to force it I just miss. I think the smarter approach would be to play more backhands and improve the placements and then also mix the turnarounds. Yeah I really gave him too many easy forehand flicks to his forehand. I should have been more brave and used the backhand flick 🤦‍♂️ I think he did one kick serve and I hit my backhand edge and it scared me off from trying more, it’s funny how one point can make you hesitate. I knew one player who would always flick smash the first short ball to his forehand to stop his opponents from going there even tho it was the weakest part of his game, he plays sweden top league.

I totally agree with the heavy backspin serve thing. I have a pretty decent one as well. If I save it until later, especially if they have started to attack my other serves. 90% of the time the first one just goes straight into the net! It's a great way to get clutch points. If I keep doing though it they start to get used to it, so I tend to use it only when it matters.
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 2 года назад
I love doing that, and if they get it over its almost always long because of the extra backspin!

Hi, thank you for posting a match analysis. I hope to learn from it and also incorporate strategies which you discuss in your videos. I also saw your other videos and I agree with your analysis. Do you have the idea on how older players should approach a match and how they should practice? The issue is that all coaches treat older players as 12 years old and ask them to do the same drills which in my opinion is counterproductive. I am looking for out of the box ideas because as per me nothing is right or wrong. It is what just works for you.
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 3 года назад
Man tough question! I agree that you should not train like a 12 year old, the difference between the age difference is that you can understand and comprehend complex material and translate it into feeling, so I feel its the coaches responsibility to do more conceptual talking and then work smart "not hard" to translate that into actual results in form, technique and feeling. I feel that you should work very hard at the game to get all the physical you can out of it moving and speed and spin in strokes because that will really help, then you should work on defense, serve return, blocking, better serves, improve tactics. I read the Art of War book and one thing that has stuck with me tactically is the idea that an enemy (and you) can not be ready for anything and everything mentally at all times, its a give and take and if you can utilize this in your opponents mind you can break them down.
@DragonWarrior976
@DragonWarrior976 3 года назад
@@PechPongTT Ya I know. Sorry, didn't wanted to put you in spot. Also, anything which you say or suggest can be used against you. LoL. But yeah, on the serious note, I do consider tactics to be very important part of the match. We will always get opponent who are better and faster than us. As we grow older, this would happen more often. But the concept is to have tactical thinking and apply it. Thank you.

Awesome match Seth - always look forward to your uploads. Love your play style super aggressive and powerful - reminds me of Zhou Qihao who I’ve been watching in the Chinese Trials. Who are some of your favorite TT players?
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 3 года назад
Hey thanks! That’s a compliment I’ll take :) some of my favorite players would be Zhang Jike, Fan Zhendong, I like watching Ma long and how he thinks through matches, I like watching Geraldo play he is very physical like me and has awesome winning desire! I learn a lot from Samsonov as well as Timo Boll, I also like watching Harimotto the way he was trained and his rise is really unique his coach was extremely smart so I try to analyze his techniques and choices while playing matches.

You did the heavy backspin thing at 5:55! The ending was crazy, with him missing his shot at 10-9 and you not being able to make the same quality of fh topspin, was that because of the last set jitters?

Fantastic Match - some incredible points, at 4:53 for example, the athleticism you show is world class. After deuce in the 5th, you obviously could have won. That would have given you about 40 rating points, nearing 2500. Your level is going up and up playing even with a 2650 player.

How can u become a great player in a short amount of time, what drills would you suggest?
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 3 года назад
Hi good question, best answer is not so simple, I would say investing in great coaching would be your best bet, they will lead you down the strait path to getting better, that along with playing everyday. The easiest way to become good is to develop an amazing forehand and a super safe backhand. Work on the footwork and get more forehand’s in play. It’s a tough game that’s for sure so it’s hard for me to say getting better fast is easy!!

You are so athletic...but while taking forehand you should maintain body stability and instead of trying to hit the ball too hard especially when you know the opponent is good at blocking..you could have varied spin length height of the ball ..keep the ball in play ..to find angles .hit in a speed where you are in control...my point of view .!! I feel with small changes you could had beat these player your game felt much better!! But cheers...love your videos... especially the serve and receive videos..got lot of good tips !!🔥🔥🔥

good game but you have been moving too much, sometimes overdoing spins and not able to recover well while the opponent is just standing close to table with normal bounce rhythms. i think overpowering like putting your whole life kind of spin strokes only drains your energy.
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 3 года назад
There is a point to what you are saying, I really put all of my energy into my matches! I also do end up making more work for myself with some of my off balance shots, that being said in this match I really felt like I was doing everything in my power to keep with him. I think I have played matches where I am more balanced and play a little more "by the book" I am training hard to make it possible to do as you say. Thanks for watching, more videos to come :) stay tuned!
