I played against Kai twice in this tournament both videos are in here the semi finals is the later match.
Topics discussed in this match.
-Kai had a noticeable quicker touch on the ball with pushes and loops, which gave me less time to react.
-He also has a very strong push to my backhand corner with both forehand and backhand, something I will try and copy as it was very difficult to deal with it.
Things that were working for me.
-mixing up my serves in a way that made him play reactive for example I would play two short to his forehand, one time no spin then side top the next, then I would serve long to his backhand, as soon as my serves became predictable I would lose because he was to fast.
-Same with receives If I flipped to his middle I would have a chance to win the point, when I went directly to his backhand he would rip it. Some short pushes all over the table and then an occasional long push worked well.
Things I have started working on after the match
- I now know I need to move in and out much faster so I have to get in my ready position after serve nice and low faster.
- I need to get used to serving and preparing for my opponents flip, I will practice taking that half step back with both feet as soon as I see the flip coming, as well as keeping my hand nice and high.
-I will continue trying to find my opponents middle with my openings, I feel that this is a scalable tactic that is worth mastering.
Thats all for now!
Have a good one :)

from my perspective, i think the better thing that Kai has over you is the control. Kai did not overhit and always has the control of his power. I feel like you somehow overhit because of the mental side when playing someone better, we always try too hard to get the point. also his short game is very relax and he can put the ball back with finesse, which clearly shows his level. over all i think you have the potential to surpass your level now by training with higher level partner. like my coach always says: train smarter, not harder. great channel, i really like the way you're doing.

Hi, I really learn a lot from your videos. You are so quick and have a great footwork. What is interesting in this video, the stance of your opponent is so upright and well balanced, do you think you are to low sometimes and therefore the ball goes too long, because it is said that a low stance offers a good view of the ball, but a higher stance is better for the perspective and the 3d-view of the game.

Hi thank for watching! Yeah I move a lot haha. That’s a great idea, and something to experiment with. Some of the best placement players like Samsonov have the overhead view you talk about. Thanks for watching again more videos to come 👍

I wonder how much of a challenge being tall in table tennis is. I am 187 cm.
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 2 года назад
It comes with advantages and disadvantages and as time has proven table tennis does not favor one size in any drastic ways. When you are taller the advantages I know of are that you have great reach and are hard to get by. You also have a major advantage when the ball is shorter say a loop or flip over the table or being able to take short serves right off the bounce. Taller players also have the benefit of more leverage in their swings so more power with less effort which usually means more consistency. Some drawbacks are that you much physically work harder to stay low, as well as a tall persons middle is much larger than a shorter person, but hard training and good decision making can fix both those drawbacks.

@@PechPongTT Thanks for a long and thought out reply. I have been watching tall professional table tennis players and it seems like they are not standing that low, relatively speaking. My knees are hurting! haha
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 2 года назад
@@z0uLess I hear ya I work with a taller guy and we are figuring out where his optimal place is, as he feels very awkward on the table being so tall.
@z0uLess
@z0uLess 2 года назад
@@PechPongTT a lot of the drills, like falkenberg, is not made for tall players in my opinion. if you can intersect a ball quicker by not moving your feet first, then you get to block a play offensively before the ball even reaches that far back.
