I will be setting up this DIY 110-gallon indoor turtle pond for my turtles! It's about time as all my turtles have outgrown their old enclosures. *IMPORTANT* since this video is getting traction, I figured I addressed something because I don’t want to be a bad influence. You guys might have saw that I added Stinky, my mud turtle, into the enclosure. It was only *temporary* (for a few hours) to allow me to setup his enclosure. You should NEVER put a mud/ musk turtle in an enclosure with deep water or with a lack of resting areas because they aren’t great swimmers and can drown! That’s all, thank you! :)

I got that pump. Works great, but that 1 rubber gasket at the top is a pain. The drain at the bottom works great, I bought longer hose for it and it drains just down the sink. I got a water proof vacuum. After the drain if you vacuum the drain line, it empties the filter container and the water in the in/out lines, making it light enough to move. Your dad rocks.

Nice job brother! You've come a long way from your smaller tank. This is a nice welcome upgrade for your 4 turtles. Your next upgrade would be to build a plywood surrounding the pond so they have a piece of land with sand/soil to walk on. That would be the ultimate set up. Good choice on the FX6 filter. That's probably the best item you bought. Where do you live and why does it look so warm for winter? What's the temperature of your garage? Keep us posted on how they are doing and what your thoughts are on the filter in your next video.

Thanks Jeff! And I live in Cali so it’s pretty warm here. It does get pretty cold here but I have a really strong heater I guess that’s able to heat up the water strongly. And yea I been looking into building a pond where I have plywood surrounding it 😃 most likely will do that for Tim my red eared slider but for now he’ll be with the diamondbacks

This made me crack up 😂 Literally just today I had to catch my RES about to commit turtlecide 🙃 Somehow she managed to not only get high enough to escape halfway out of the tank, but she also somehow figured out how to unlock it and was strong enough to lift it 😅😅

Canister filters..are really nice when they are working. It always takes me an hour and plus some just to get it started, and I set it up every year when my koi need to come inside for winter. 👺 always fun setting those up…

Your set up is great but the turtles dont need a heater they just need uvb and a heat lamp . They are native to north American and can handle cold temps. your video did help with a lot of ideas though so keep up your platform

I’m going to do this for my big red eared slider, he’s gotten pretty big and my 75 gallon seems kinda small now ... I’m going for a tub now. my question is the heater. Do you just leave the heater roaming inside the water? It won’t melt the plastic?

Yea I just leave the heater on pretty much 24/7 . It turns off whenever it reaches the desired temperature And it doesn’t melt the plastic because the tub is a really strong stock stank, I don’t even know what the material is, it’s like some kind of rubber rather than weak plastic

I have the same set up but mine is the 300 gallon stock tank. As long as you have a cover for the heater it will work.

@@TurtDu not to eat 🤣 I keep 2 snails with my baby sliders but my substrate is river rock so they camoflaouge they basically look like pretty rocks and they eat alge and eat turtle poop and left overs, some times they the turtle tries to eat the snails but it's funny cuz his jaw wont fit 😅

Not sure if you went over this but how did you get the chlorine out from the tap water since that isn’t safe for them? Did you use any type of water conditioner

I plan on buying the same stock tank at Tractor Supply. Was your diagram for the basking area precise? I might have to copy our set up exactly, haha. My local Petco has 50% off tanks, but it would still be more expensive for a 75-gallon tank versus a 110-gallon stock tank for $80.

Yea go with the stock tank! Really cheap compared to tanks :) and honestly it was not precise at all lol. I didn’t have anyone to help me measure so it was me trying to estimate how long the pipes needed to be which was not a great idea at all. It definitely took a lot of trial and error but it was well worth it

The measurements were bigger than they needed to be for the sides and stuff so I ended up having my dad to constantly trim off the pvp pipes haha. Best advice is to cut the pipes longer than it has to be just for room of trial and error rather than cutting it too short

How is your turtle going to lay eggs when she reaches maturity? (Assuming your turtles are female) I heard that they lay eggs even without male turtles but they are infertile. How do you clean your tank and how to clean sand which is in aquarium bcz I want sand in aquarium so I am confuse how to do u remove poops from sand

I use an aquarium siphon and it’s honestly pretty easy, when i siphon the water and stuff, the sand is too heavy or the siphon isn’t strong enough to pull the sand So the poop gets sucked up meanwhile the sand doesn’t

I'm planning on getting the exact same tub you have in this set up and was wondering if it's absolutely necessary to place those cinder blocks under the tub to give it extra height? I'm curious to know if I can get by without the extra step.

It depends if you are using a canister filter or not, the only reason I did it was to increase the chance of the canister filter working. Canister filters are designed for aquariums where it is in a stand under the aquarium; so the gravity can help get the canister filter to work as there’s gravity to help it siphon etc. But with a stock tank like this, the canister filter will be side by side with it. I heard some people got it to work without the cinder blocks but I didn’t want to deal with the issue so I added cinder blocks to make it higher

I do plan on using a canister filter so I'll probably end up adding the blocks because I don't want to deal with setting it all up just for it not to work properly. If you don't mind me asking another question, how many blocks did you end up using and what are the dimensions of the block?

And yea I would’ve love to explain a little more for the stuff too but I realized the video was too long so I cut most of it out haha and as for filtration, I can honestly tell you the basics and everything. What size is your tank? It’s recommended you get a filter rated at least 2-3x the size of your tank. So let’s say you have a 40 gallon tank. This means you need to get a filter that is got a 80-120 gallon tank. Other than that, you’re all set to go 👍🏻

Turtles don’t need friends and when put with other turtles, there may be aggressive behavior but if you are willing to take the chance, you can put him with another YBS or other slider turtles or painted Definitely don’t add a musk or mud

Hmmm that’s a tough one, Honestly not sure but you can pretty much use anything as long as you are able to attach it to the PVC pipes
