Setting Up a Home Studio | Changes, Updates, Tour & Art Vlog 

When I was a teenager, sixty years ago, I had a terrible car accident in my very first car, a small Renault . I had a friend and two children in my care. The steering mechanism broke, the car hit an embankment and ended up upside down. We were all able to crawl out unharmed before the sheriff arrived. The car was totaled, we were taken to the hospital, but had no injuries (I know, unbelievable.) But I was really shaken, being so young, and hadn’t been driving long. At the time, thought I might never drive again. But when we got back to my friend’s house, her uncle immediately said come on, we’re going for a drive and you’re driving. I was panicked and didn’t want to go, but he literally made me. I will always be grateful to him for that. He knew exactly what I needed. I love driving and have always had a good driving record all these years. I really think, if he hadn’t forced to drive right after the accident. I may have not ever driven again. He made face my fears, and it was the very best thing for me. I think as we get older it takes longer to bounce back from accidents or mishaps like that though.Love your new studio space.

My husband lost his right leg at the end of November in a work accident. We had been living in a caravan for 12 years, but he could no longer navigate the small space, so we spent 2 months living with my mother (who doesn't really like any of us) before finding a new home. Now we're trying to move into a new rental, but he can't carry things or lift things and I'm having to be a lot more social, and engaged with other people (instead of relying on him to do all that!) in addition to working a full time job as a librarian.. my anxiety is through the roof. Your videos help.

I love wtching your videos from across the pond. I'm in the USA. I love the idea of your home studio, mine is my kitchen table and it's surrounding area, I love creating and doing "projects", in my opinion, "ART IS THERAPY". Thanks for your presence on youtube.

Somebody showed a tiny notebook from a journal, that talked about taking small steps, and soon you'd be flying again soon ( Oh yeah, you!) You totes got this (to quote your daughter). I believe in you, and that things will get better, and you'll get back your confidence, and a routine. No doubt when the weather improves, and the spring equinox is closer, you'll feel stronger. In the meantime, self-care to fill your cup and heal, believe in yourself (as you know we do) and enjoy your home studio and "nesting". I know exactly what you are going through after your accident. I fell three weeks ago and broke my back in 2 places and my left wrist. My first thought while I lay crumpled on the patio was “I’m dead’. Because when older women break a hip or back that is usually the end. So my mental state has been in decline. Your videos and words of wisdom are really helping me navigate my new reality. They said physically I should heal in 6 months. YIKES. I’m super active so this is a huge blow. I’m going to do watercolors while I heal.

The flooding looks horrific, I'd been scared stiff leaving home, I don't wonder at your hesitation, as the weather gets warmer and drier it may be better. Understand the goodbye to a vehicle is a big thing. I so enjoy each video and feeling you have become quite a friend, bless you for sharing the light and laughter.❤

Art has been a part of my life from the time I could hold a crayon till now. see a long time ago early 70's I use to draw my little dollies. lots of them, drove my mom crazy, they were every where. then I grew up... Of Corse I paint, draw color, make journals, sew, needle work, scrap book, but always in little cracks of time. now retired I have given myself permission to Play Again, feels so good! I cant stop, and I wont!!!! those little girls came flooding back to me like a winter river! I am truly grateful I found you!!! love and light to you my kindred spirit!

Trauma is a funny thing, and we all respond differently. Sound is a trigger for me because I can still remember the sound of crunching metal. You will heal. Don’t force it, but don’t give in to it either. 😁❤😁

It made me so happy to see a video from you Wendy :) So sorry to hear about your accident. I know others have said the same thing, but years ago when I was learning to ride a motorbike I had an accident, fell off and hurt my leg a bit. My husband said, come on back up you get. I was very shaken, but am so glad that I did. I don't ride anymore but it was great advice at the time. I would not call myself a confident driver and don't drive at night, but saying that I would be lost if I didn't drive, especially living in a very small village. I've had something of a collision with people recently in an attempt to rescue some animals from not a good fate & I am in the frozen stage at the moment while we continue catching them & taking to safety & therein facing a possible court case as I have been charged for my involvement... in brief ;-). Yes, I am also a creature of habit. I have regular routines that when they change, I feel off balance and a tiny bit lost. Lol!

So sorry for your loss. The fireplace stove is very nice. I do understand about your ordeal. I lost my husband and shortly after went in for both eye surgeries. I now am having a hard time wanting to drive even if I know I can. I have eye issues but am able to drive yet just have to push to get out weekly. It takes time. Be kind to yourself and take baby steps. We all heal at our own pace.

I developed a phobia about driving and then about going far from home which lasted for many years. Once I could stop hiding in shame I finally got therapy and my life was transformed! I know that part of your healing is talking about it and you give others permission to be themselves as imperfect when you do. I am so sorry that you have a bit insecurity just now, but keep giving yourself kindness. You have a sweet spirit and your companion is amazing. So many of us that watch your videos are sending you thoughts of healing.

Grace is my word too lately.

I wrote my car off in 2005 and took me about 6 weeks to heal physically, but emotionally it too 6-12 months for the driving jitters to completely disappear. So yes giving self Grace is important and time will help heal. Love the home studio space.

My very favorite car was a 2009 Honda CRV, loved loved loved that car and we had so many adventures in it. A gentleman tboned me, luckily on the passenger side with no one else in there with me! Poor thing was totaled and I've not been happy with a vehicle ever since. Have been a hesitant driver for a while now and bridges are a definite NO for me to drive or even look while riding. So I can commiserate. Love your channel. Take care.

I wouldn't consider going to studio with James a "cop-out". Everything in its own time, go at your own pace, darlin. Takes time to navigate the obstacles trauma presents. Self-compassion is a must. At 72, I've learned that, unfortunately, little physical setbacks take longer to recover from.🙁 Sorry, your car was a casualty of the accident. 😢 I really love your light infused home studio! Definitely cozy! Sure wish I had me a James in my life. He's priceless❤ Get some heavy curtains up to draw in the evenings to keep in the warmth. I think you are very right in keeping your "away" studio. So important to be able to get out of the house. I think I overdid it doing isolation over Covid, because it was so easy for me to give up my of out of the house life. Finding it a bit hard to take it up again, as well as getting out of practice driving. I can still do it, but it doesn't feel second nature to me like it used to.

Oh just saw your lamp... you should paint one of your florals on that, wukd be so cute!!
