I've been working on setting up my own version of this, and I really appreciate your insight in realizing the possibility of this modification. However, I notice in this video you don't have any weights on the movement arm of the AMP Mate, whereas in earlier videos you used weights. I'm having trouble getting my AMP Mate to exert enough pressure on the casing to noticeably trim it. Are the weights necessary, or am I doing something wrong?
I am having the same problem. Mine does not have the pretty chamfers that John shows in this video but rather chewed up edges even if the case had been previously trimmed. John we could really use your help here!!
Is this working for you? Is this the way you're trimming your brass normally? My Giraud should be hear in a few days. Great videos (all of them) thanks
It still totally works although I only use when doing large batches of brass. If I'm doing 100 or less I just do them by hand rather than relocate my amp mate and hopper.
@@FClassJohn Thanks - I usually to 1 or 2 hundred at a wack. I'm sure getting tired of what I call "Touches". Anything that will help will be welcomed. Thanks again & Happy Thanksgiving.
@@davidnelson6603 I totally agree. My buddy and me always evaluate touches and this definitely helps. You just have to manage moving it from machine to machine.
Search my channel for amp mate and you’ll find in one of the videos I talk about how to set it up by holding the power button down for about 30 seconds which puts it into demo mode. It’s not a perfect solution but it does work and is what I’m doing in the video.
It's already built in. If you watch the video you will see how you enter the 'demo mode' by holding down the power button. This basically tricks the machine to keep running without the need for the machine.
If you watch, you'll see me talk about activating the 'demo' mode. This puts it into an autotrun function where it just keeps going up and down. No annealer needed.
It’s working great for me. It’s not going to be for everybody and certainly people who do smaller batches of brass may not found it as practical but we’re doing large batches of brass, while it may be slower it definitely makes it a hands-free event.
F-Class John I’m all about the hands free. Did you ever get the alignment ring printed or are you still using the one you made from wood. Which version of the amp mate are you using? As far as the programming changing the dwell time is that something anyone can do? I seen in another one of you videos you had weights on the arm is that still needed. Thank you
@@themusso12345 No I only used the wood one and it's been fine. I'm using a version 2 amp mate (technically a version1 that's been upgraded) and the programming has to be done by AMP. I don't remember the final dwell time but I think it's about 10-15seconds. As far weight go it doesn't hurt if you can make it work. But you don't want too much or the case won't free rotate and I like it to do that.
That’s super kind of you. I actually had another person contact me and is doing one as we speak so I’m excited to see how it works. Thanks again, always awesome when people offer to do such nice things for strangers.
