This video is really blowing minds reading through comments. 1. Yes, this video is old. I work 7 days a week 100+ hrs consistently - editing this channels content is farther down my task list. 2. Yes, this is the same table I've had for awhile. 3. See #2. No, this is not another new table. 4. Getting a piece of equipment doesn't change a person. 5. I understand there's a lot of people that can't afford a table. But does that mean a guy that can make it happen through hard work, grit and determination shouldn't get one because a friend can't? With this mentality, there literally wouldn't be any successful businesses in the world.

The fact that there are not only negative comments, but mean spirited comments literally baffles me. These naysayers only out themselves and show how small minded, lazy, jealous and have no determination and drive to better themselves. They give up without even trying and say that's impossible, and then get mad at the ones who have shown them that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. Thank you Derek. You and your family deserve every bit of success you have acquired. Thank you for being the role model you are. And don't let the naysayers do anything to you, except give you more drive and fuel to feed your success.

To all of you who say he is going above his station or that he is not the same RU-vidr, your right. He has made himself a higher, more comfortable and enjoyable station and he has become most likely the best mechanic themed RU-vidr ever… Derek, you are living and loving all of our dreams and some people can’t handle that I suppose. Side gig idea….put the tiny humans to scooping up those trimmed pieces (like the 3 round pieces and the V, G, and G if they’re sizable enough. Tack the letters together for keychains. Set the Bieri boys up with an etching kit…makeshift with old style battery charger, q-tips, and a salt water solution. With some stencils they can etch designs into those blanks and make key chains or other cool stuff. (Looks up knife etching or makers mark etching for how to’s)

Derek, I applaud your forward looking adventure into technology. A few tips I send your way to avert the cash flow problem that even capitalizing high cost CNC machinery: - You really need 2 shifts of table cutting per day to pay for a CNC machine, plus it's overhead, I.e., facilities, support, repair, and insurance. - It's much cheaper to outsource "plate" needs, here's why in addition the first bullet, - Practically all cut outs will require a bend or brake operation and bolt hole punch and even some welding. If you remember the power equipment factory you and your family visited in Missouri, their laser table was captive but had tremendous demand on it for parts, also it was followed by brakes, punching machines, and welding operations. - Again, it's much cheaper to outsource one-off brackets and unique auto parts. Your builds are hand crafted, I very much recommed drawing a line shape on the metal plate and using a simple low cost hand held plasma cutter to rough out a shape then spend 15' dressing and drilling. - If you already own the CNC table then advertise like craze to a niche automotive home builders market to fill as much time as you can schedule into that machine, otherwise the fine thing will become a very costly albatross around your company. - Trust me, I am very qualified to make these strong suggestions. Here's the Bob Carson Rule for CNC Machines (and other costly tools) "The Machine Must be Bought to Make You Money, NOT Save You Money." -You have a wonderful program and a beautiful family, I really want you to be utterly successful, for the sake of a whole lot of Americans who are learning from you how to be self reliant and courageous. God's Speed.

It bottles the mind how many possibilities this opens up for a feller. I'm in TN myself (Crossville), and know what you mean by having trouble finding parts nearby. If I had the skills in drafting and the budget, the first thing I'd make is some rear control arm correction brackets for my Jeep JK. A few companies offer front brackets as an alternative to expensive aftermarket control arms, but I've not found anyone who makes brackets for the rear. It's odd, considering a guy kinda needs them to fix the entire pinion angle correctly on a lift, but I digress. With this thing you're limited only by imagination (or in my case, skill lol)

I've had a CNC plasma for 5 years now and must say it is invaluable in so many ways. I actually now earn much of my living from it. I built mine from scratch though using proprietary components and a Hypertherth 45, it is 3mtrs by 1.5mtrs. Saved a lot of money doing that but still not cheap and a lot of time to make it work, it's now more accurate than many of the ready-built units you can buy. They always create black dust even if you run a water table and are better in their own room as a result.

i absolutely love your hardware for the square body hood saver 5000's. I would like to purchase a couple and hopefully will eventually. I've caught some flack from people saying these hood savers are making the vehicles unsafe. What's your response to those that say the potential bend in the hood is a safety factor built into the vehicle and prevents the hood from "decapitating" the driver and passenger?

Any classic vehicle is unsafe by todays standards. Its an assumed risk operating one. Theres a million cars on the road that don't even have seat belts.

@@ViceGripLodge Thank you! I agree completely, but wasn't able to put my brain words into text words like you have. You are a gentleman and a scholar! This is a perfect response! I hope I didn't come across as someone that was against your awesome hood savers, just wanted some ammunition for argument. Thanks!

We used a waterjet machine at my job. (Gasket materials, cutting gaskets) I had head of these, and the use is endless if you work on cars. Enjoy the new tool Derek.

I used to work for a company back in the mid 90s that build these plasma tables for cutting out 2D shapes of HVAC assemblies that then get hammered into duct work. Facsinating stuff.

I love Derek don't get me wrong kids, but a life turning wrenches doesn't equal what Derek has. I've been turning wrenches for 35 years GM master tech ASE certified l1 l2 the whole 9 yards and I make less now than I did in the late 80's early 90's. Don't get into this business thinking its a windfall, you're gonna work your ass off for someone else who couldn't care less about you. If you really want to get into the game live in an area where you can start your own business eventually with the lowest overhead possible. Otherwise you will be miserable grinding it out every day for someone else. Don't get me wrong I love vice grip garage, but there's a reason why there's a shortage of techs at every garage, and its not because no one wants to do this.

I've used hand held plasma cutters a lot , but this thing is totally amazing . What a nice addition to your shop . Saves all the work doing it by hand. What a machine...The Xbox controllability is really rad.
