Setting Up RC Transmitters for Flying Wings
This is South Bay Soaring Society's Wednesday Night Program from September 8th 2021, presented by our new member Mike Jagoe. He covers several ways to set up the Elevon (Elevator mixed with Ailerons) for flying wing gliders and power planes. Some of these same techniques will work for setting up V-Tails as well.
Often hobbyists copy a program for a their RC planes, but never understand how it actually works. This can become a problem on the flying field or slope if any adjustments are needed. One of the trickiest programming problems is how to program flying wings or V-Tail. In this discussion Mike walks you through how he set up his Hobby King OrangeRx Tx10i 10 channel transmitter to work with a Lemon 6-channel receiver. This transmitter and receiver are DSM2/DSMX compatible so this tips will be handy for Spektrum and other radios as well.
In this example he is setting up his FireFly 2 flying wing from Microbirds, but plans on using the same technique on his new Alula and future Weasel from Dream-Flight. See more of Mike Jagoe videos at / mikejagoe
