Understanding setups in your shaper also helps to understand setups in my milling mill, so I thank you for this series. 👏👏👍😀 Your brave demeanour is a real inspiration to everyone. 😔
Interesting! I think your commenter had it exactly right. Setups are the most interesting and educational things to include in your video, and I certainly learned something from this video. Best of luck with the treatment and recovery.
Thank you for the great ideas and explaining things for us. No we don't all know these things. What may seem simple to you may not be that simple to someone learning the setups and the tooling options. Love your shaper and seeing it run. I have a little 7 inch AMMCO which is my pride and joy (looks like a South Bend), love the old tools. They fit me will. Will keep you in my prayers concerning your cancer. Stay well.
Thank you for taking the time to show everyone how to do some setups. One of the most crucial parts of machining is the setup, if that’s not correct it usually creates other issues. Thanks again and I wish you all the best in your treatments. God bless. 😬
Always good to maximize the capabilities of our machines, especially for the hobbyist just starting out 😊. Sometimes finding them clever work-arounds make all the difference. Thanks for sharing, Rusty! Don't fret the hair, looks like you've got a nice shaped head 😉. Cheers! 👍😁👍
My backplate was a success. Thanks for your videos I also cut my first keyway on the shaper. BTW. I just bought shaper #2. It's a shape-rite model B. I have a lot of work to do on it. Brian in Arkansas.
Good video. Enjoy seeing how you set-up your work. I have an old Vernon-Sheldon, 12" shaper. There's a lot you can do with a shaper, I learn something new all the time. Best Regards from Nebraska!
Hi Rusty, A really good video... I think many people over complicate the way they do things and also sometimes limit what they try due to a lack of machinery... I for one would like to see more of these type of videos. Take lots of care Paul,,
Glad to see you in good spirits, even with the challenges you've had to face recently. Nothing wrong with sharing what you know with the rest of us even if others have videos on a subject - we all do things slightly differently and can learn from each other even when faced with similar tasks.
One year ago this week I began my 13th and final chemo treatment for stage 4 colon cancer. Nine months of heck and one year recovering, I remain cancer free! Yes, your hair will grow back. I pray for your full recovery. Stay positive and accept the help offered by others. Your number one job right now is resting.
I'm glad to hear you are doing well. Thank you for showing how you do your setups. Those of us that don't have all the things that make it easy can learn to be creative with what we have to accomplish a task. Cheers from Canada
Hi Rustinox. I’m a relatively new subscriber and really enjoy your videos. I love your sense of humour too. All the very best to you and I hope all your treatment goes well
Thanks for the show and tell on setups, pickup a few tips with everyone of them and some reminders to check your clearances every time, it’s easy to get complacent and then there are parts on the floor and tears in your eyes. Stay strong and good luck with your treatments
Hi Mich, good to see you creating videos. You are looking well despite your situation. Great content, I really like your explanations and such, and it doesn't matter how simple the project is, there are always those of us who just like to watch over your shoulder. The difference of technique gives us depth, which takes time and patience. Cheers and best wishes!
Thanks Adrian. A few weeks ago i wanted to buy a shaper, exactly same as yours. Only 1 hour drive from home an for 500€. Unfortunately i was in the hospital, so i missed it...
Gday Rustinox, great to see you looking well, this is a good subject to talk about, work hold cam be a real pain sometimes and you don’t need all the flash machines to make a part, you just have to get creative, take care mate, Cheers Matty
You might move the table a bit to left and right to make the slot for the cutter larger than the cutter it self. Not moving means that the cutter gets stuck when it heats up. The same principle is often use on the lathe
Thank you for the video. It may not be just the 'new' guys, a little change of perspective keeps the mind fresh. Keep up the good fight, I wish you well with your battle. Think of the shampoo you'll save for awhile. 😁 I shaved my head when my best friend was fighting leukemia.
? What is the range of sizes of cutting tools for the shaper. Can you use 1 inch cutting tools on any of your machines. But more important what is the range of sizes for the shaper tools
