Hi Tony, I saw I shaper guy use a strip of leather no the backside of his carbide tools to protect them on the return. He said just some insurance if it bounced it wouldn’t shatter the tip. He also he had to extend the stroke a bit so the leather flipped at the end of the work piece. Thanks for sharing.
Hi bpp2. Thank you for commenting. The strip of leather will also stop bounce marks created by any tool on a soft metal workpiece, on the return stroke of the tool/ram......Tony
Hi Tony. Sorry i didn't comment earlier. Tools look good. On aluminium they will give a spectacular finisth. On hard steel they will work good too, as long as you don't bump them to hard.
Hi Rustinox. Thanks for your comment, the ram is only moving slowly hopefully to prevent the tool bouncing up and down on the work piece on the return stroke.
Hi Tony, I like the new logo - looking forward to the woodwork too. Those shaper tools look great. Nicely made. Is there gong to be a separate video about truing up the vise jaw seat, or is that already done off camera? Cheers, Craig
Hi Craig. New logo. New stickers available soon lol. Yes I have footage of truing the jaw up, needs to be edited though. Wood machining workshop vids on the way as well. Slowly getting there. Thanks Tony
Well done Tony, you have made some nice tools there. Just wondering, have you got a job lot of rattle can red? Love the shaper action, I really want to get one for my shop, few and far between these days, especially good ones. Keep going pal, love the channel. Jon
Gday Eyup Tony, new sub here after Cliff said to check you out, brilliant idea for shaper tooling, I’ll be doing the same I think, thank you, looking forward to seeing your other videos mate, ATB Matty
pretty cool tony, Ive always heard that running carbide on a shaper was a bad idea, but I guess running it at slower speeds, the slam of the tool on the backstroke is almost non existant that usually wrecks the carbide. Also, how do you actually say your channel's name?
EeeeeeYooop , but you have to say it in a pommy accent otherwise it doesn't sound right . It's like saying hello ! That's my interpretation as i have a friend from England that lives where i am & that's how we say g'day !!!
Thanks for viewing Chirpy. I guess in a production environment it may not work in some situations but if you had a automatic tool lifter or a lifter fitted to the tool like on a Tee slot cutter you won't get the slamming on the tool tip at all.
