It didn't impact the game, but the soldier tokens from Martial Coup should've entered the battlefield tapped, as they enter the battlefield before the board is wiped and both Urabrask "see" them.

small rules thing, that's super small. 7:01 you shouldn't have been able to give the humble defector to nick. since its a target and until nick's turn he would have protection from everything due to the teferi's protection. unless im missing something.

In a time where combo EDH is taking over and we're getting sick and tired of seeing the same cards once and again, it's so refreshing watching you play different cards, spells resolving and winning by combat damage. Cheers!

I built a deck with her once, but one of the girls in my playgroup plays a *highly* tuned Kaalia deck that has so much removal it's stupid. She kept taking out Nikya out before I could untap with her, making all of my turns essentially nothing but either ramping up to drop her repeatedly until she ran out of removal or playing at a slower tempo and getting overrun by angels I couldn't block with what I DID have...the experience made me totally lose faith in her potential as a commander, so I tore the deck apart in defeat 😞 But THIS...this gives me hope for my mana doubling lady again...maybe I'll give brewing with her at the helm one more shot 😤

Yo, Muddstah! Fun fact: You can't actually give the Defector to someone under the Teferi's Protection (see 7:00) because they have protection from everything, so they can't be a target of anything. I see some rollback might have happened regarding that on Nick's turn when the Defector spontaneously turned up at your board tapped, but it's unclear from the context.

I love Adriana, she is a new pet commander of mine. Her ability is sweet in multiplayer pods and gives Boros Weenies a solid power boost without restricting your list to tribal mechanics.

Every time some talks about Humble Defector they talk about how you'll never see it again... And yet I've never actually seen a game where people don't just hand it back to the owner.

I got into magic because a friend bought me the Kadena precon (rough start lmao). I was going to build Volrath to abuse cool copying synergies but its so hard to make a focused game plan with it :P

There are two main problem with Volrath: 1. You need to focus a lot of the deck on -1/-1 counters to maximize Volrath's copy options each turn. Otherwise, Volrath becomes very predictable and easy to answer; 2. When cloning creatures, you really want "standard" clones. They enter the battlefield as copies of whatever they're copying, which allows them to take advantage of ETB triggers, and can copy permanents that can't be normally targeted. Becoming a copy is vastly inferior to entering the battlefield as a copy. If you want a clone commander, I recommend The Mimeoplasm. Even if you don't go the combo route, there are a lot of fun shenanigans you can do with it. It also doubles as graveyard hate, which is almost always useful in Commander.

8:27 When you put the counter on Urabrask, why not put it on Rampaging Baloth instead? If you were going to do the mana trick with Nikya, which was awesome, to cast Traverse you could have gotten 7 3/3 beasts with the landfall trigger instead. It may have forced an earlier board wipe and you would have had more blockers to help pad your life total. Having rewatched it you could have even had Sakashima also be a Rampaging Baloth before the Traverse to make 14 3/3 beast in total. I do think having a copy of the sphinx was smarter. Flyer blocker and draw was more needed in that situation.

Agreed with what you said. Also if you wanted to copy the sphinx why not do that and draw off of humble before using all your mana for spells. That way you have as much info as possible before deciding how to use your mana

unless there is an anger or something I missing at 11:00 he attacks with the fresh token from captains claws, but it would not have haste, it just entered tapped an attacking. I don't think i made a big different, but the deck has a lot of effects that put in creatures when they attack and would have a similar interaction.

If Martin had dropped Hornet Queen before Craterhoof, I'm pretty sure he would've had lethal damage on the whole table... granted, Nick would've still survived thanks to Teferi's Protection, but then he'd have only one opponent and I think Martin would've been able to win in a damage race.

Yeah, that craterhoof had very bad timing. Not to mention that the 2 blue decks on the table were completely untapped. The risk of him getting countered was way too high. He could have waited more.

Very nice game with some rarely seen commanders. I don't know why MIsha decided to prepare the two pieces for the self mill combo and then stop at that. This makes you a giant target, especially since the next player had an army of tokens ready, another has the commander out and the other has been shown to explode. Also strange the sequence Craterhoof->Hornet Queen instead of the opposite. A little note at the ending, Rhonas can't pump himself. Still, nice game.

Lack of trample, no haste on itself and not doubling its own power makes it a terrible budget Craterhoof. End-Raze Forerunners is a better budget CB.

These games are cut and edited. He probably drew and put it back right away so everyone could that it was the card being drawn. It's really easy to forget to do the "miracle draw" if you only have one or two in a hundred card deck.

It ultimately didn't matter in the end because Nick died anyway, but he should've taken a damaged from the Battlefield Forge when he cast the Humble Defector. And he also should've taken 6 from Ruric Thar for casting Reforge the Soul. Like i said, i know it didn't matter in the end, just some things i noticed.

if its of any help, the list *this is just speculation obviously* tries to use the cephilid illusionist and any ability that infinitely targets it to repeatedly mill yourself for 3, thus enabling a win using lab man, jace, or thassa's oracle. some effects that infinitely target are nomads en-kor and umbral mantle (lightning greaves does not work as it give shroud)

How can you play Traverse the Outlands if you made a copy of Nikya? Doesn't she say you can't play non creature spells? Or am I missing something?

Nikya is what doesn't allow you to cast noncreatures, not her mana doubling. I floated the mana, changed it to Urabrask. At that point the game doesn't care how I got the mana, just that Nikya was gone.

Nikya has two separate abilities: one that stops you from casting noncreature spells and one that doubles the mana produced by your lands. The mana ability has no particular restrictions on how you can spend it. Once Volrath stopped being Nikya, the restriction of casting noncreature spells was gone, so Andrew was free to spend the extra mana on whatever he wanted.

fun fact! if volrath copies aurelia, you get an extra combat phase. if you then activate the copy again targeting aurelia, you can get another combat phase since youre a "new" aurelia edit: jk, this isnt accurate. ignore me

It's still the same permanent, so it preserves the "memory" of having already attacked. Volrath would have to leave the battlefield and return in order to be a "new" Aurelia".
