A little note 💕 When all I had left was scrap fabric, my goal was to turn almost nothing into something beautiful. During this process, I ended up running out of scraps and had to take the skirt off another muslin to finish it. 🤣 You guys, I’m so happy I got thru this and it was worth all the hard work! Now, I should probably go look for more fabric so I don’t cut into any more of my dresses, haha. Thank you guys for always being here & for sewing along with me. 🥹🫶 And thank you to the wonderful people at WAWAK for sponsoring the tools that made this very challenging project a little bit easier.💕 Xoxo, Cindy Leaux
I admire you because you’re willing to take on a difficult pattern (or mix patterns) to get the style and look you want. You learn something new every challenge you meet. I’m proud of you!
Your comment really touched my heart! I would explain but I don’t want to ramble so I’ll just say, kindness truly goes a long way. And your thoughtful words today mean a lot to me. Thank you! 🙏❤️
CINDYYY😍😍😍 This dress came out BEYOND gorgeus!!!! You are so talented! Also, I hope you will grace us with your presence in front of the camera more often, because you're a treat to watch. So beautiful! 😀❤❤❤
If you wear linen pants or a skirt and it gets wrinkled when you sit, just wet your hands and run over the fabric as if you were wiping your hands, the linen will tighten and straighten. Art School, Textile Design Technician, you're welcome.❤
Hi Cindy, I admire your work and determination to complete your project s through different segments.Bravo I also like your color palette and choice for project. Well done!🎉
Sweet Cindy... a little tip for sharpening your pinking shears (and all other scissors) is to use baking foil. A sheet of heavy duty foil, folded a few times and you just cut and cut and cut until your scissors are sharp again. I do this all the time! I love your channel xxx
It turned out beautiful, all the hard work but absolutely worth it 💖 Linen is the worst to iron🙈, but, you can try spray it a bit with cornstarch spray while you iron it. This will help with the pressing and will prevent a little bit the future wrinkling 😅. Hope it helps 💕 Thank you for sharing your beautiful work with us 💗
hi there! i’m not sure where to find them in colombia. perhaps at an antique or thrift store just like the usa? if not, you can find them on ebay or reproductions on etsy that you can print pdf copies of. hope it helps!
Again a masterpiece!! You are such a marvelous seamstress! Did you take classes or did you learn from the women in your family or both?? Every single dress that I have watched you make on RU-vid is so elegantly put together. Your choice of fabrics, colors and the type of notions such as buttons, ribbons, etc all fit together perfectly. Thank you. Where you the model with your dress on? If so, you look stunning in your dress! Thank you for creating and sharing the process and now modeling your creations. You are such an inspiration. I watched all the episodes of all the seasons of Mad Men, I loved that show it was eye candy in so many ways! I loved the clothing that was how women dressed when I was a child in the early 1960s. I think I am more a Joan because I am a full figured gal. I loved her character as well. January Jones wore some of the most elegant dresses on the program. I felt sorry for her character Betty Draper because her husband constantly cheated on her and Betty the character seemed so lonely, and disillusioned regarding the life she thought she would live and the life she was living. She gained so much weight in the 5th season which added to her disgust with life and herself. At least that is the way I remember the show..............
Thank you so much! Yes, I modeled this. I’m trying to get more comfortable appearing on camera, haha so I appreciate your kind words! I took 2 private lessons that taught me how to use a sewing machine and sew a straight line, etc. From there I am self taught. My great grandmother was a seamstress but I was too young to learn from her before she passed. Outside of the fashion, yes, Betty was a sad character. Joan is definitely one of my favorite personalities. I didn’t always agree with her but she was just so cool and feminine and I admired her. She’s also a redhead like my grandmother. Thank you for sharing and I truly appreciate you! 🫶🥰❤️
@@CindyLeaux My father's a railway enthusiast. I have real life experience. 😅 (Our interests in this respect actually crossover quite nicely because old timey railway events and photos often come hand in hand with old timey clothes!)
Don't worry about getting linen smooth. It will never be smooth. People consider it part of its charm. I've never been a fan but I know it's very breathable and light for the hot months. Also it's great you know what fusible web tape is and how useful it is. I had been sewing for almost 6 or 7 years before I knew about it. :D Bias Octopus is CUTE!
Thank you so much! 🐙🫧💕 I see what you mean about linen, lol. I’m looking into linen/rayon mixes since they seem to wrinkle less but give similar breathability which is what I love linen for. In working with WAWAK, I discovered so many neat tools that I probably would’ve never come across. That tape really makes life easier. I’m going to use it for everything now 🤣
This dress is absolutely gorgeous! It is astonishing that you made this wonderful dress out of scraps. You have inspired me to start sewing, a few weeks ago I started sewing my first project. A vintage American flag quilt❤. You have also inspired me to thrift vintage dresses, I hope that I gain the confidence to wear them in public. I do have one question, what types of fabrics did you use on this dress, linen for the pink and red, and cotton for the blue? Love!
Yay! I’m so happy that you’ve been inspired to sew & thrift. And wow you are spot on - the pink & red are linen and the blue is a quilting cotton. You really know your fabrics. I hope you’re having so much fun learning to sew! 🥰❤️
@@CindyLeaux Thank you! I am really enjoying sewing my quilt, it is an absolute labor of love❤️. Last weekend I thrifted curtain panels in my favorite blue color and hope to find the best pattern to make a lovely fit and flare dress from them. I am also wanting to find a better hairstyle for myself that could be easier to manage than very long hair, I am on a verge of cutting my hair and styling it like Betty Draper, the style is so lovely and would be out of the way. (:
