I saw them on this tour in NYC at Roseland Ballroom! What a phenomenal night! I am so glad I got to see them! They sounded so tight!!!!! Still love The Pistols!!!
If you listen to this on N.M.T.B's you will not want to hear this version. Massive credit should be given to Chris Thomas and Bill Price for the sound created - which is not here. Personally, I think the Pistols should have never reformed. But like everyone they need money - so good luck to them.
The Pistols were excellent musically, as far as punk bands go. I mean just watch that video. Jones was a brilliant guitarist, and Matlock was also fantastic on bass. Paul Cook was also a great solid drummer, and say all you want about John Lydon, but his voice suited the Pistols perfectly. Fair enough, they were no Led Zeppelin but bloody hell they could play and put on a fantastic show. And as far as this whole "the Sex Pistols weren't the Sex Pistols without Sid" carry on, catch yourself on.
Sid was plugged in a few times, most notably the Winterland gig whihc you can see on here. When he wasn't plugged in, no backing takes were ever used. It was just Steve's guitar and Paul's drums. You can easily tell just by listening to the live post-Matlock gigs - there's either terrible bass (i.e. Sid was plugged in) or no bass at all (i.e. he wasn't).

How many times do you have to mention it? Sid was not a member of the original sex pistols nor did he play the bass on any of their recordings. He was just a hell of a character, a PR-thing and a close friend of Rotten.
Well that was certainly one reason why he wasn't very popular! The reason he left though was a combination of things. He was getting frustrated that they were banned from playing live in most of the country, and were struggling to earn any money. His relationship with Rotten had also broken down. Rotten wanted Sid in the band as an ally against Steve & Paul always siding with Malcolm, so when all these things were mixed together, it was inevitable that it would be 'Goodbye Glen, Hello Sid.'
if sid was such a legend how come the others all out lived him . we now know steve jones played bass on the bollocks album and steve and glen wrote all the music and john the words so what did sid do apart from die
According to interviews given by Rotten, Jones & Cook over the years, it all depended whether Sid was sober/clean when deciding whether to plug him in or not. Sid himself was unaware either way. When he was clean, he was actually a competent (but very basic) player as Winterland shows. When he was messed up, though, he couldn't hold a tune and had to be switched off because it distracted Cook and ruined the gig. Sid himself admitted that he couldn't play a whole song all the way through!
my fav sex pisotls song :D. i feel this is one of the underated tracks on the album.. stupid guitar hero ruining the song with all these "punks" at my school thinking they have cred knowing one sex pistols song. PUNK AT ITS GREATIST. love this band
Winterland shows that Sid was at least able to hold a tune. He plays along with God Save The Queen quite well, just isnt able to hit the right notes very often. With practise he could've been a competent player but Malcolm let him get away with too much, encouraging him to behave badly for the publicity.

to bad sid joined the band... he was a great singer dont get me wrong... i love his remditions of My Way and c'mon Everybody... but i meen.... if Glen were there they would have been the Sex Pistols.. never PiL... never mind the bollocks i miss the Sex Pistols
This is great but.. I liked John better when he had a mic stand, and he was hunched over it, and grabbing it like he was killing someone. He could pull that off now, and still look good.
I like Sid and his attituide but even I have to admit Sid couldn't really play. If Johnny and the rest of the band happily acknowledge that he was useless and that was part of his charm, why can't you?
If anyone of you people were that talented and still got the fury and the balls, wouldn't you like to go out- even occassionaly- and play your music????? and don't tell me crap about the money. Pleople grow older (and develop) and somehow change.
