Volcany 12 hole is very similar to Seydel Saxony with optional half moon mouthpiece, brass comb, brass mouthpiece, and brass covers, stainless steel reeds, and an improved convex button.
It has the same physical sizing as Saxony, same H bar construction…and the same 4 piece mouthpiece construction. But to me, that is GOOD NEWS, as I happen to like the Saxony design very much…after all, Saxony has been my principal harp for 5 years. Short throw slide, and straight tuned. Fast in play, fast in changes…and the brass gives the sound punch.
The flat blank under the mouthpiece, and on top of the slide acts like a windshield wiper on the slide, it helps keep it clear, and it’s a very airtight design right from factory which is a wonderful plus compared to other manufacturers. Airtightness is key if one wants fast response and optimal tone.
TONE: Better than Saxony, more of a rich center to the tone, improved projection. Better harp. I like it better.
LOOKS: Great, but one must be careful when setting the harmonica down on anything as covers do not extend past the back of the comb, so the comb touches things and will quickly get scratched. I covered mine with a bit of tape, as I want this harp mint for performances.

It is a premium harp through and through and a worthy addition to any collection of fine chromatic harmonica instruments. Dead airtight, just the way I like them. No complaints on the half moon mouthpiece…comfy and a pleaser. You’ll like the button too, a bit of give at the end and convex in shape. A nice move on a classic Seydel design. A+”
