Hey man thanks for watchin! Will be more video to come hopefully soon the weather over here in Vancouver Canada is awful between -7°c to +8°c lots of rain hopefully we will get some nice days and go bashing!
top notch video, especially the shoutout to me, ahah!! I enjoyed that, I'll be putting that in my own video so my viewers can see who I watch on youtube, I always find that interesting myself to see other people's interests and who they support. ABN engines, my last one was the HPI 15FE, also the only engine I ever destroyed (it was my first nitro, lol). Nitrogang!!!
Two great RU-vid creators. Hoping both your channels explode. You guys deserve it. Would be great if you guys lived closer and could get together for a video. Hybrids pretty close to me here on Long Island but Bug is juuuust a bit too far for a road trip. 😂
John Decline hey bro! We both really appreciate your support, the bug 404 and I will have a nitro motor speed rebuild contest! Haha. Jk. Or a “find the vacuum leak challenge” haha. I know my own redcat earthquake cud use some of that!!
Love watching all your videos mate. Another fine video loaded with good information. Hope you and your family are all well to. I did kind of hope there would be some crazy flames 🔥 with that potato 🥔.. Stay safe buddy.. 😉
Right on man thanks you and we are good over here the potato got Baked the beer slammed and I will be doing another RE&RE video on the pro .15 soon as I get the parts in I promise there will be Flems!
That's what I tell everybody get an old engine that doesn't run and take it apart and put it back together as many times as you see fit until you understand how it works watch videos I got lots of Em If it's what I tell everybody get an old engine that doesn't run and take it apart and put it back together as many times as you see fit until you understand how it works watch videos I got lots of them I'm glad it's helping you learn
Seems that way I mean I do burn quite a lot of 0% and I do add a little bit of store bought to it just to make the to and in slightly better and I haven't used any after an oil in a long time nitro Quite corrosive to begin with
I unfortunately fell for the screwdriver trick. Luckily I stopped before I even tried it. It just seemed so wrong. Went back to your page to double checked &, confirmed. How ever Adam drake suggested to put a zip tie in the exhaust port and then to push up on the piston. I did this and it seemed to damage my piston head. After this I immediately stopped and made my own tool with my 3D printer. Man what a roller coaster. Have you ever tried the zip tie method? And would you recommend it? Thanks Bug! 🤘🏼😎
Hey man glad you didn't go with the screwdriver technique that's very damaging and zip ties won't do any damage unless they have metal in them and you can push-up on the bottom of the sleeve from the back side of the crank case once you apply some heat to the cylinder that usually works 99% of the time it works every time. 👌🏻💯🍻
@@thebug4046 thank you very much for your feedback! I couldn’t tell if there is sufficient damage done to my piston while doing the zip tie method, when I did this it was late at night and I didn’t have my glasses on. I was also extremely paranoid I was doing something wrong. It may have been grease or grime that looked like chipped metal. I’m currently trying to rebuild three trx engines, .15, 2.5 & 3.3. The .15 was the worst, it was almost glued together with all the grime. The torch method you suggested worked like a charm. I just needed to heat up that old nitro fuel and allow it to coagulate so it would come free. I’m going to try to do a pinch test on them next. I’m rewatching your videos on sleeves/ pistons & such to gather some info on pinch testing. And hey man, sorry I still haven’t sent in pictures of my messed up 3.3 I bought from that guy who ripped me off. I kind of got lost on where to send them to. I’ll send you those pictures and along with some pictures of the engines I’m working on. I also recently adopted a kyosho MP3 with the OS .21 that came stock with it, I am going to do a full restoration on that buggy, once I build up enough knowledge on conditioning and tuning nitro (glow) engines ;).
@@7badtothebone Hey man sorry for the late reply and yeah when you get old engines like that they can be quite difficult to take apart sometimes just relax take your time observe what's going on. It's really sad how people have to lie and rip people off makes me so mad I get a lot of people coming in for that sort of thing quite upsetting to see. But I think I had mentioned the Nitro RC enthusiasts group on Facebook im an admin in their. As well 🍻💯🤘🏻
@@thebug4046 no worries at all! I feel bad buggin you all the time with my questions! You’re just very resourceful and I will say this channel is what got me into Nitro rcs. Before I had only electric rcs, since 2011. Now I have one revo, 2 tmaxxes & the kyosho mp3. Funny thing is I haven’t driven a nitro rc car in my life, haha. I bought project cars so I could build them from the ground up. Anyways, I actually found out I did join that Facebook group and I must have forgotten to follow up. I’ll go ahead and send them there. Again thanks for the engagement & all the awesome information you’ve given us. You’re the man! 🤘🏼😎
@@7badtothebone Hey man welcome to nitro! We don't do bullshit on this channel. It's all real talk. With your Traxxas engines OS LC3 glow plug is best. With the fuel no higher then 12% oil! To much oil will make the engine more difficult to tune. Try to avoid Traxxas fuel or basher fuel. And you will be good as gold. Check for fuel or exhaust system leaks very important!!!!! Once you get the hang of it you will be mint 👌 💯
Do airplane engines need this extensive kind of maintenance? My one leftover engine is 25 years old and I've never torn it down to this level. It still runs fine today.
Sorry for flooding your comment section lol, but after how many gallons do you replace the connecting rod, and how many gallons after do you replace the bearings?
I usually change the bearings maybe every 6 or 7 gallons I haven't really paid much attention but when they look like they're in poor condition as when they change them connecting rod has long as it doesn't have any up-and-down play it's fine but you will see the video of the pro 15 connecting rod replacement as soon as the parts come in so you can watch to see how the where looks
Rebuilding engines seem fun but novarossi, expensive as hell considering the fact that bearings should be replaced I could just buy a whole new engine. Thought I was ready to take apart my engine, but I guess not because i still need to get me a potato 🥔 😃
Yes the potato is very important and fact you can even use it as engine bearings if need be! Obviously I'm getting but I do understand the conundrum since thought company is so overpriced for parts and especially something like a set of bearings I can cost you almost $80 sadly they make the bearings specific to their engines so you have to pretty much buy them right from them most of the time And yes rebuilding engines as quite fun what I can suggest doing is grabbing yourself an old engine off eBay that doesn't run anymore for $20 just practice on it as many times as you need to KBN!
@@nitrogas5719 They do build some pretty nice performance engines for a lot cheaper than the Italian company's what you often can't get parts were out the time Also I live in Canada where those engines and parts are extremely expensive and very overpriced even something like buying a set of bearings can cost $100 plus in shipping
I haven't actually tried swapping them im not sure the pin bore sizes are the same or the stroke but if you feel like spending a few bucks it's worth a shot
@@thebug4046 Cool, I'll be doing it, if that doesn't work, I'll save it for a future SH18 anyways. I saw your videos about it, and they seem much better machined than vx18 ones.
@@hunterdurst4571 not sure if the one you took out is in good shape and not twisted or bent you can put it back in just make sure it's fully seated in and perfect
@@thebug4046 it flew into to orbit haha, I got another new rod and the original rod it came with has a little tapered edge on the bushing but very little the new rod had a deeper taper I figured it’d give me some more room to get the connecting rod on the crank pin but no luck
SH doesn't make flywheel or any parts they only make engines. But yes you can use all the Traxxas parts on it but you will need to cut the crankshaft shorter and use a pro 15 adapter shaft
@@hunterdurst4571 your gunna have to take little bits of until it's abil to tighten the flywheel i believe i made a video explaining when this engine was in the tmaxx as far as mm i have no idea I never measured it just grind and test. If you have a pro 15 that was in tmaxx or something you can go on that with how short to make it
Hey quick question, have you rebuild your .15 engine in any of your rc10gt's assuming you have what piston and sleeve do you use, possibly a link to them if you have reb them.
@@thebug4046 alright, just ordered a piston and sleeve off ebay the ports seem to look the same, hope the seller isent stupid and has the right picture and description.
@@aidanmcnutt994 what engine are you starting with factory ae? And what piston and sleeve did you order because most of the time they are all different
@@thebug4046 yes factory ae, I know most are different really hoping for the best and I did allt of research not enough to confirm but enough to take a chance.
@@thebug4046 thanks, is there a cheaper starter option than Traxxas for the Dynamite .19t? My Ez Start 2 melted the motor trying to start the new Dynamite .19t. The Traxxas set up is $50 and since I have just bought a new engine not in the budget!
@@thebug4046 Needed help on this so chained several vids on the subject. Just found a vid where a pro racer stated that you can gently pry on the outer of the sleeve with a tuning screwdriver, or 2, once it's slightly raised with the zip tie method...
@@Silent47 I usually push up from the bottom of the sleeve with a chop stick. Because if you pry against the sleeve from the top you can brake fins on the engine or damage the sleeve and it may not fit in the block properly or get stuck even worse i have several videos on this
