Firstly, I apologise for the strange way this was edited. My reaction ended up just being me watching in awe again - I got a little swept up in the storytelling and well that's it. Ren's RU-vid CHANNEL copyright struck the video, not a label. Not all strikes are from record labels. I would've included the entire video otherwise. For everyone telling me I didn't get a strike, I did when I uploaded a version with an uncut video, the audio was picked up by his channel. It's an automated thing, it's not Ren personally doing it. And before you comment it's a trilogy, someone has commented this already - but I was moved by this as a stand alone piece regardless.

Yes youtube puts an id on each video prevents other people from putting in their channels and monetizing it. Other reactors find a way I think, they dispute it and the owner can accept the dispute or something. But anyway this was a great reaction.

He doesn't have a label but he uses one of these distributors indie artists use to publish their music to multiple platforms, otherwise it would be too much for a single person to deal with I guess.

@@nondetection8882 If you're not overseeing disputes they don't get resolved and I publish a video every day so I don't have much time to wait unfortunately. Usually you can get around it, but it was picking up the audio not the video, and I didn't want to edit his audio or mess with the speed to get around the copyright. To get around video claims, you just zoom in or make it a small box.

At present Ren is going through some incredibly harsh treatment. Follow some of the links and you will find a post from Ren explaining everything. There is a trade off and I just NEED to thank, first of all, you Justin for turning me on to this artist and, of course, Ren, your work is soul-shaking. All the desperate things inside of me stand at attention when confronted with your truth. There's just so much I could say but this isn't the platform for that. The two of you(Justin, Ren) appeared right at a time when I am so unsure about a lot of things. Thank you for being a sort of comfort when I need it most.

When I was depressed, like the lowest point in my life for me I heard his song release called Depression, first time that I heard it i was crying my eyes out. And screaming I hate you depression.every word and every sentence could almost be fitted 1:1 to my life. LIke going to the therapist but it doesnt help and you still want help. shit that hit hard

Thanks for introducing me to Ren, Justin! Incredible. I want to hip you and all to a recent singer songwriter that tragically lost his mental health battle in 2019. Zack Rosen was his name. He was my bassist, but for a while I was unaware that he wrote songs. I'll never forget hearing the demos he shared with me for the first time, realizing he was an actual genius. Zack asked me to produce his debut album, which we were in the middle of making when he took his own life after a years-long battle with schizophrenia. It unfortunately had to be finished posthumously and comes out next month, 3/24/23, on Sean Lennon's label Chimera Music.

There has to be something noteworthy about the fact that Ren is the only artist I’ve seen multiple reviewers make disclaimers about how their audience gets mad about the reviewer pausing the video. People want to experience the journey Ren is taking us on together, music hasn’t done that to the greater audience since reaction videos became a thing… Ren is bringing art back baby!

Since you featured Ren I have been checking out his music. The busking with The Big Push is fantastic… they are all such talented young musicians … if you’re not into the “rap” stuff check out wade in the water and hear what brilliant singer Ren is. The trilogy Jenny, screech and violet is just brilliant storytelling. You know that final line is coming but it still hits like a gut punch. Learning about his medical issues has been heartbreaking. Thank you Justin for introducing us to him and for going back… your channel works because there’s both love of music but also love for your fellow man.

Oh Justin so glad you covered ren again. Only heard of him through you and checked out his other stuff on RU-vid. He is a very special artist indeed am absolutely stunned by the stuff he creates. This song had me hiding under the duvet it hits so hard. I can't think of any male artist who has come near to approaching this subject and he has done it immaculately. It's heart wrenching. @@Io-Io-Io it follows a very modern and common occurrence in the streets of the UK where orphaned children are let down by the system and grow into a life of violence and crime, screech's tale is about him mugging a woman and killing her by accident, jenny's tale is about getting killed during a mugging. the overall take home not is that the system is failing the most vulnerable people and they are forced into lives filled with crime and violence and the cycle repeats as nothing is done about it - nobody cares about it....

Love the channel! Could you ask Ren to add this Thanks button option to his songs? I think a lot of people would gladly chip in a few bucks for medical expenses and to support his art. I am 60 years old and struggle with depression and PTSD. Ren gives me hope for the future. Well I'll thank you again Justin for introducing me to Ren a couple of weeks ago and safe to say it's been one of the best things I've ever experienced as a musician. I've checked out much of his stuff and I simply feel we are in the presence of greatness. I really mean that. He is, as you commented early on, a mix of The Bard Beethoven Eminem Matt Bellamy Laurence Olivier all rolled up into one mishmash of genius. What an incredible talent. One that I've never seen the like of before. I pray he maintains some semblance of health and can keep going with his gift. (This particular one I think is easier to get when you watch the others Jenny and Screech that preceed it)

Well, I normally find myself going down musician/artist rabbit holes after watching Justin but this one is a bit different for me as I knew of Ren so many years ago when he was ill and sharing videos from his bed when he was ill. I think he was diagnosed with CFS/M.E back then (which is what I have) before diagnosed with Lyme's disease. It's so good to see what he has gone on to do, but boy is his music raw/emotional. I am sure everything that he has gone through with his health has impacted his music writing, it's just so raw and emotional for me. Thank you Justin for sharing Ren's music and bringing him back to my attention. He is phenomenal.

Besides everything else (the lyrics...the singing...the playing...the sheer effortless authenticity...all of which make this an absolute masterpiece)....this effing thing is actually recorded LIVE! He's playing it right there, right now...with all it's beauuuutiful imperfections (and if you want to appreciate the inestimable value of imperfection...just ask Guillermo del Toro). Yes he plays out his open wounds , for success , in a kind of psychiatric cabaret , the over affected delivery is very punk rock, nothing new, the hospital gown mularky wears thin, he risks becoming a parody, but maybe thats ok too.

This song is the last in a trilogy of songs with a common storyline. Hope you can do all three in a row sometime now you have Ren's blessing to play his material in full, they are a head kicker. Couldn't agree more that he would be a great actor, he really inhabits his story delivery. His style in these songs is like the traditions of the traveling minstrel I feel. Oh and I'll take the opportunity to drop the hint to do a long form interview with Ren, like you did with Rick Beato.

It’s a devastating shame that you appear to have not watched Jenny’s Tale and Screech’s Tale (in that order) before this. This piece is a brilliant final part of a trilogy that serves up a haunting and beautifully brutal story.

I found Ren last year with Screech's tale. Ren is currently battling some difficult and expensive health issues, I think you giving him a platform will really help him, and he has a lot of content (like the previous 2 episodes in this trilogy) for you to cover.

I think your showing only small clips (albeit disjointed) of the song is fine, it certainly pushed me to go & check his channel out for myself. it's the reaction by someone as talented & knowledgeable as you that we're after when we click on your videos & as much as we wanna enjoy /share the whole song with as many "strangers" as possible, there are plenty of boring, "play it all the way through" videos out there to fill that void. Keep on doing what you're doing, the way you're doing it. Concise & to the point!
