@@marthancrowl1674 Not even that. "Perfect" varies A LOT from person to person, so it as to be perfect specifically *to him*. I mean, I'm much more into the Oulaw protagonist than into the main girl from Stellar Blade... But that's beceause I'm old. I grew up with female protagonists like Hellen Ripley, ladies who looked feminine and could even be fanservicey without it going so overboard it feels stupid. It's not that Stellar Blade's character is badly done, she actually looks great for what they are going for... But it feels like the look she has is something that was picked FOR her instead of something she'd wear herself. Feels kinda fake.
I would be surprised by this but I saw a car today with a "no seatbelts, we die like real men" sticker unironically on their car so this seems tame by comparison. I'll never get over "fellas it's gay to wash your ass" though, that one's forever going to make me vomit
its the happiburg jaw, sunken eyes that are far apart, etc etc etc. she doens't even look like an average woman, she looks like something pulled out a happiburg's baby shoute.
The first thing came to mind when I saw her is that she got the 80's aesthetics like Ellen Ripley .... That's not ugly..... This incel outrage is insanity.
These guys use Ellen Ripley as their go-to "good" example of a "strong female character", but I guarantee you the only reason for that is the grandfather clause (or grandmother as the case may be), in that she's the exception because she existed BEFORE the culture wars started. If she was created now, they would hate her just as much as they hate Rey or Captain Marvel or any other female character who is anything other than a damsel in distress for the boys to save.
@@andrejg4136 Literellay they tried to do it with Xmen 97. It was perfect back in the day but today it's suddenly wOkE....When it's always been about discrimination of minorities.
@@jonathankent1517 Yeah if Alien was released today the screeching about the absurd wokeness of it would last for months. You're telling me this alien that evolved to be the perfect killing machine was somehow bested by a mere WOMAN???
@@jonathankent1517 Basically. They hate modern cartoons for being "political" and yet grew up on cartoons like Xmen, Spiderman, Static Shock, Justice League, Avatar TLA and many more that have overt themes. They were just too small to notice them
"What's your impression of the main character?" Eh, she's fine. Looks like a regular person, maybe a darker Sigourney Weaver, I suppose. "No hint of makeup!" Uh, Shad, Kay's a SMUGGLER. I doubt mascara and blush is really on the list of priorities... Ugh, I can't believe I thought about this.
Looking at the character, there could easily be some light eyeshadow and eyeliner and maybe lipstick going on. I get the feeling Shad doesn't know how makeup really works or how commonplace it is.
she doesn't look liek a regular person. much as shat talks otu his ass i think it should be agreed upon that she doesn't. her prior design looked like a regular preson. not some super model, simple and so on they then redesigned her to have sunken in eyes, waxy skin, and a happisburg jawline. The happisburg jawline is also often a sign of inbreeding too so that is not exactly... flattering.
“It should’ve been character creation.” Then it would’ve gone for a Starfield/BG3 style system with varied choices for pronouns and gender expression and you’d just bitch about that instead, Shad.
Crazy part is, the main character of the Star Wars game doesn’t even look bad. Seems the anti-woke crowd hasn’t gone past 3rd grade of brain development lol
She literally just looks like the "survivor" or "hero chick" trope from 80's/90's sci-fi and horror movies. You know, the same thing they always try to bring up (like Ripley) when claiming they have no problem with female characters. Yet they're now at the point where they're pissing their pants over literally anything.
They basically need it to look like a hentai character or else they're going to shit their pants. It's good because they're definitely never going to have kids to groom with their dogshit ideology if they keep scaring the hoes.
They're literally what they used to whine about feminists being back during gamergate. I'll give them the same advice feminists got back than "make your own game"
"It's an undeniable pattern!" Yes, I have noticed the pattern of these culture war grifters picking out freeze frames where the character happens to have an unflattering expression.
Yeah I noticed that the chin looks fairly long. I did wonder if they had stretched it but it might just be that the tongue is covering the lower teeth and obscuring how open the mouth is.
Shad is like a Gamergate throwback lolcow. His every grievance is pulled straight out of Sargon of Akkad's cornhole circa 2015, it's incredible how behind the curve he is
That's because it's gone full circle and they're now trying to revive GG under the guise of complaining about "DEI" and obsessing over making certain things a battleground like that Stellar Blade game.
@@NocturneJester They've been trying for ages, I remember Sargon while running for a seat on the EU as a campaign strategy said "I reckon we can get Trump to endorse Gamergate" as if he dropped some huge big brain genius bomb on the zoom call and immediately even people kind of on his side burst out in laughter. When we put them into the simulation prison their paradise-jail is just gonna be an endless stream of AI generated Anita Saarkesian for them to react to.
@@optillian4182 I mean...I'm annoyed that literally the only time I hear about it is from losers like Shad. But that has nothing to do with the game itself (which I'll probably never play anyway).
The woman he keeps saying the character is based on is the mocap actress not the model for what she’s supposed to look like. She’s the mocap actress because she’s a great physical actress not because she is what the character is supposed to look like.
Yeah I don't understand why so many people think characters have to look like their mocap actors. Sure, some games have that, and it's kind of amusing. That doesn't make it a rule.
Aloy looking a little (or a lot) roughneck is the entire point. And a lot of dudes are into that. I mean God forbid we have diversity in female presentation.
Guys like this got mad when the game released because she had facial hair. You know like those tiny, nearly invisible hairs many people have on their face.
@@orangutantapioca1530Just wanted to add, it’s not just “many” - virtually ALL HUMANS have “peach fuzz,” EVERYWHERE on the body! (Except for a few places like palms, lips, etc.) It’s necessary for temperature control via sweating. (The fine hair acts like a wick for sweat.) Check out Wikipedia’s Vellus Hair entry. It’s actually a disorder to NOT have peach fuzz growing on one’s face! (Although most women do routinely remove facial peach fuzz due to societal pressure that women should not have any body hair.) With how much the Gamergate-lite bois complained about Aloy’s peach fuzz, I’m surprised more people haven’t been talking about this! Young people’s basic biology education has failed them, and unrealistic body expectations soar due to women’s extremely narrow representation in media/video games/AV. I’ve met many young men who literally thought women do not have leg or armpit hair! (The vast majority do: check out Wikipedia’s Body Hair entry.)
@@orangutantapioca1530 They're confused and upset because video games are now modeling a woman in greater detail than these guys have ever seen hahahahahaha
Sometimes I wonder if some anime I've watched is a little too much, but then I hear these anti-woke "gamers" and "media critics" bitching about digital women, and realize I came out of my college anime addict years JUST FINE compare to them.
I don't get the "Genderbent Han Solo." This conclusion is based on... basically nothing but the fact she wears a jacket and uses a gun? Shallow analysis to justify his weird woman hate.
What do they expect her to look like? She's supposed to look like an outlaw doing dangerous jobs for cash, not a supermodel heading down the runway. She looks like she's supposed to be a spacer on the fringes of society who is more focused on keeping her ship flying than putting on make-up. I mean, seriously, why is it a problem for the lead of this game to look like a scruffy space trucker? Is that not clearly what the game is going for? She's not even remotely unattractive either. She just looks like she's got more important things to worry about than being considered attractive, which sells the fantasy the game is going for.
Imagine if Han Solo derailed the first Star Wars adventure to go to a barber shop to get his hair and face perfectly groomed. That's what these idiots expect of a female protagonist.
Since shad is really into medieval stuff I BEG him to look at the paintings of women they made back in the good ol christian patriarchy serfdom days. Might put things a bit more into perspective. Believe it or not they didn't paint 13 year old anime girls for their women either
Yeah I unironiclly think shads into teen girls. I've seen him say characters that look like adult women are ugly or disgusting and then the characters he uses as examples of being "hot" look like 14 year olds including a lot of his ai generated trash.
@@USS_Sentinel Pretty sure Shadman's never been anything but upfront and honest about being a perverted sewergoblin. Shadiversity seems to be laboring under the delusion that he's "An intellectual".
I like how he has no complaints about the robot isn't conventionally sexy, but the second he doesn't find the woman sexy, it's a huge problem that is gonna destroy the gaming industry and end humanity.
Star Wars game, in a setting steeped in 80's fashion: has a hot 80's female action hero protagonist. Shad the Nonce: Not hot enough! Too old and frumpy!
dude who doesn't like tomboys? Tomboys are my go to thing even if they often turn out to be lesbians. The amount of time that i invested into tomboys that turn out to be lesbians is tragic but i now have 3 lesbian friends. They are also fantastic wing man! I will not accept This tom boy slander!
Guys who dont like tomboys are just afraid to be less manly than a woman. Thats why they need helpless damsels, so they can feel competent in comparison
I've seen this type of due real frequently on twitter when it comes to female characters not being supermodels and seeing it as an attack and its just wow, like it just screams to me an unhealthy relationship with sexuality and how they see woman in general that if the woman isn't sexy as hell then what's the point, and thats just sad to me
she literally is though in this new design . the prior design was good. gave me riply vibes and it worked. here they made her look inbred by having as many so called 'defect's as possible in one face. some people might hagve more deepset eyes, some people might have a larger jaw or a cleft chin, some people might have eyes wide apart. having all of that in one face is inherently ugly.
These grown ass men genuinely out here complaining that there are people in the world that look different from the people in their immediate vicinity. As a writer Shad should know that having characters look different from one another and taking their condition into account when considering their appearance is a base-level thing to achieve verisimilitude.
@@KnightlyNerds He's the type of person who thinks Melodias from Seven Deadly Sins and/or Makoto from School Days are relatable and likeable characters.
I worry sometimes that i might be getting coomer brain, but then i see these guys demanding every single woman in media look like Lara Croft r34. Even actual Lara Croft in the games isnt sexualized enough for them.
@@CRSB00they suffer from brain rot from lusting over girls near the edge of adulthood. There are lines people, and they are so far over they can't see it anymore.
Because she's a woman and her sole purpose is to be attractive to men. It's so creepy how much worth they put on women's looks. If they don't find a character fuckable it's somehow woke nonsense.
Shad's bizarre behavior here makes me think of bees. Bees have very different eyes - and very different visual processing/analysis - to our own. Their visual spectrum extends into ultraviolet, and a lot of flowers have UV patterns on their petals which bees can use as an easy way to find them. I don't remember how much of our own visual spectrum overlaps with theirs, but the important part is that their brains will generally pick up on those UV patterns as their basic marker of "this is probably a flower", whereas humans will use the specific hues, color combinations, shape of the petals, appearance of the rest of the plant, etc, etc. Shad's instinctive means of identifying something as femme VS masc seems to be similarly _divergent_ from a lot of other peoples'. His comment about how the character looked completely androgynous to him was what set my mind down this road; it's like his brain's visual processing centers are using a different checklist to identify things, and his perception of gender is so tightly bound to these small details that if he sees a human shape which doesn't neatly fill out that checklist, then his brain slips a gear and can't properly figure out what the hell it's looking at because it's so dependent on using those signifiers as guideposts. So to him, a woman without what he considers 'proper makeup' comes across as immediately uncanny to some deep recess of his unconscious, and his perception of the image he's seeing starts to lose definition and coherency.
Star wars has never been a franchise known for its hot girls, wtf if his issue? I mean this with all due respect, Carrie Fisher was mid. I mean, she was pretty in the way that all teenage girls in Hollywood is pretty, but she was never a head turner. If anything, woke Disney has been getting more sexy, more feminine female characters! Outside of the single scene with a metal bikini, princess Leia was in robes or outdoorswears! Shad would HATE Princess Leia today
I was thinking exactly this. If people consider characters like ripley and leia hot then they have no right to say this character is plain or ugly (same goes for aloy or lara croft from the newer tomb raiders)
What's funny about this is that their dads would problably go crazy for a chick like this back in the day. The main character looks like someone from the 80's.
At this point, I assume he's never seen any women ever. Like have you never been to the grocery store? And seen other people? Who look so different in every way? Even "pretty" women look wildly different. Also aren't Star Wars protags supposed to be a sort of Every-man? Like these are just sorta People who end up doing this crazy stuff because they want them to be relatable? And yeah, she looks like a woman I'd see in the grocery store who probably works at like, an office or something. Not a internationally famous supermodel
Speaking as someone who does occasionally draw in what is clearly an anime-inspired art style, and characters that are admittedly risque, why is it that the people that shit themselves whenever a female character is presented like a realistic woman in a hyper-realistic art style look like the fucking crypt keeper?!
Just remember, there is a woman and she is married to Shad, and presumably Shad has a mother and maybe a sister. I'm pretty sure he has children, so maybe one of them is a daughter. There are all these women and girls in his life. It makes you wonder how he behaves with them, e.g. whether he is the same or worse as he is in his videos, and whether they find that repulsive or totally acceptable and normal.
I wonder about this every time i see a video like this. Poring over a character’s “sickly skin texture”, narrow face, not wearing makeup, their jaws… like damn
He does have a daughter and has said he’s raising her to like princess peach and his son to like mario or superheroes. He threw a fit that peach wore her mk racing outfit in the trailer and thought she was being a feminist and a bad role model for his daughter. Absolute dunce mormon child rearing in that house.
@@kyuubisgirl3232 My Mormon dad wouldn't even care about a princess wearing a racer outfit. He doesn't even care that I like superheroes. So, it seems like it's not just our religion that is influencing Shad's weird behavior.
@@Shythalia Yes, it is his religion that influences this the fact your father is more tolerant and a better man than Shad, doesn't change the fact that many Mormon families are influenced into misogyny because of their religious beliefs Read about the Mormon perspective of gender equality. Mormonism doesn't teach that women are equal to men, not in the slightest
What I don’t get about him being a mormon is that he should be disgusted by women because of how the entire religion views womens bodies. He should be terrified that he's going to get aroused by seeing a shoulder. He isn't going to the Celestial kingdom at this point. Straight to hell. Too bad he's losing out on becoming a god because then he could make all women look like loli anime girls who fuck him all day. Sucks for him. 🤣
As a Mormon, I've never heard of having a no-no rule for make-up. Maybe they meant no make-up in church? I'm not sure. Either way, it's very disappointing to me to see Shad be this way.
Shad is upset that the outlaw, aka the fugitive on the run, is dressed as a generic person who can blend in with a crowd and not a bombshell that everyone stops to look at the second she walks into the room?
This ridiculousness is why I stopped watching Shad several years ago. Imagine if someone spoke about a woman he knew personally in that manner. His lack of self-awareness is stunning! His critiques lack substance and value.
Same. As an artist I used to watch some of his medieval vids for reference. But once I learned who he truly is, I was appalled. He lacks self-awareness & I can’t imagine any woman wanting to support him at this point. I wonder what his mother, wife, sisters, etc think of him? And he claims to be a Christian, but the Bible is very clear on prioritizing inner beauty
@@NuvizzleIronically, the most recent saints row game (which everyone labeled as woke) absolutely has the option to make your character as "rotund" as shad
The way the chat reacted to the character from the other game makes me think there's a pretty big discussion to be had here about Korean "beauty standards". If you think the "beauty standard" social pressure on women and femme people over here is bad... just look. Just take a little peek. Literally just google "Korean beauty standards" and try not to cry.
*Star Wars game coming out.* Anti-Wokesters: Wait for it. *Female protagonist.* Anti-Wokesters: Wait for it. *Stupidly high price tag.* Anti-Wokesters: NOW! ATTACK!
Thing is, the games industry is rife for criticism...mostly to do with terrible business practices and exploitation of employees. But all they care about is that there are too many women involved, and that they're not hot enough. It's ridiculous.
😂 These guys seem to want anime waifus in Star Wars. They aren’t respecting the art director’s vision for the game. A scantily-clad outlaw would be totally out-of-place & comical
I really just think that he just Doesn't go outside I admit that I'm probably on the edge of pornbrain; a lot of characters that I design, and commission are... a lot. But then I go outside, and interact with my friends, and coworkers, most of which don't look like the commissions I get, and move on with my day. Just, I don't get it
Dawg... She bad af 😭FUCK THEY MEAN? Also, on games like this, I wait until the GOTY drops with all the DLC included so I'm not paying $1.9bil on day one
“What is flattering?,” asks the middle-aged man in a tan hoodie(?) with a dark blue and black vest overtop. Backed by two mall swords and a dragon statue from a weed shop. Sitting next to a guy who’s wearing a faux blood hood from a Spirit store.
Also, I'm not surprised that Shad is an antiwoke loser; I used to watch his channel, primarily for sci fi content, and there were always moments where I would find myself going "wtf are you talking about?!" with certain things he said. Him being a Mormon also turned me off on him (iykyk)
As an artist who specializes in character design for game development I can say with authority that shad obviously knows nothing about character design and that he clearly doesn’t know what real people look like. Eastern anime aesthetics aren’t what any real people look like. Period.
Depends on the anime. I've watched a few where you could readily picture a real person for a live-action version. And some, while not realistic, you can still get an idea of the character and how they'd look in real life. Then there are the ones where you wonder if the artists are on watchlists.
Wait wait wait, he thinks the bots are being purchased by Disney and/or Lucas? They have NFT profile pics! The bots are trying to hype the AI tech to pump Nvidia's stock price, the game has nothing to do with it!
Are they blind? The main character for this game isn’t unattractive at all. Besides that why does that matter? Edit: surprise Shad, women with masculine features exist
Can we all spare a moment to feel extremely bad for Shad's wife? Just... just imagine what her existence is like, and if that doesn't fill you with sadness I don't know what can.
Cyberpunk 2077 did a good job with customization, and two dialogues terms of feminine or masculine, ect. Used the same name and such. Also, these goons and his incel community followers expect super models and unrealistic expectations of women lol.
My default state of being is androgynous, but when I hear Shad talks something in me just shifts. I'm suddenly flushed with testosterone and I become the manliest person in existence. I'm so confident in my masculinity that I can fell tree and punch bears. Thank you Shad for the free hormone boost.
The only thing that might ruin this game is that it's made by Ubisoft and the micro-transactions. It's Capitalism, not aesthetics, that is the problem.
I think a massive part people dont notice when they talk ablut bethesda is that for the scale of their games only recently have they become a big company in terms of their amount of employees. The problems generally come to having so much of a scale but so few working on each thing and set release dates for games are super cringe
Yea maybe they got terrible pictures of the MC or something but shes actually pretty . Like am i buggin or something? Think its just weird people being weird tbh.
She literally has a happisburg jaw. guy is super deceptive cause he keeps on using imagery of her pre redsign. she looked like a normalish woman. she looks injbred now. and i am not using it as a literal insult i looked up many indicators of inbreeding asnd she has a lot of them.
there’s lots of reasons to be leery about the Ubisoft Star Wars game, but the only brain-fuckled reason is because the protagonist isn’t hot enough. she’s very appealing, in a normative fashion. what, not pale enough? not blonde enough?
S~o...how much do you wager that this is Shad's actual opinion about the character versus it being him and his ilk still royally butt-hurt about Gina Corano getting fired from The Mandelorian?
I guess the Turian in Mass Effect Andromeda was kinda androgenous. But that's because she's a damn Turian. And I romanced her anyway! His Baldur's Gate 3 take is particularly spicy.
I don't buy Star Wars Outlaws because the main character is ugly. I don't buy Star Wars Outlaws because the pre-order prices are way too high. We are not the same.
The character definitely gives of some OG Alien Sigourney vibes, and the funny thing about that is that movie came out in the 70s and people at the time were completely smitten with Ripley. No one talked about how she didn't have "feminine features" whatever the fuck that means, Shad lol. Apparently wide hips and a small waist are male traits? Well, Shad officially outed himself. He's into the twinks.
My mother who is very judgemental about womens appearances used to make fun of my father for thinking Ripley was hot. They are now divorced and he is with a woman that has ripely/sigourney weaver vibes lmao
This is what I noticed too. Most of these online grifters who claim to want a “trad wife” don’t live up to the “traditional man” model of the patriarchy. He’s sitting around whining about women in video games all day. He’s not working out getting muscles in the gym, investing & building generational wealth, & building a treehouse for his kids that could be featured in Architectural digest. 😂
I am fascinated by the bit where a woman being feminine means that she should be wearing "a hint of makeup" I get the distinct impression that Shad is one of those guys that would see someone with a full beat and think they're just wearing a "hint of makeup."
yeah it broke my brain for a moment when he said the cast of Baulder's Gate 3 look plain. one of the highest ratios of hot to average looking characters I've ever seen in a popular video game
