I love Rexx (especially his hair), but I wish they experimented more with his style! All the boy dolls we've gotten so far have been very streetwear inspired, I think they deserve more fashion variety.

Would love a gothic or (glam)metalhead inspired male doll out there, especially from Shadow High. It would probably finally push me over to actually purchase one.
on the topic of shadow high adding more color to their student body, it has been theorized since the release of the storm twins that as the students progress, they gain more color to their looks to go along with shadow highs motto "let your true colors shine" as each student discovers themselves and their talents. of course this could just be a cover up for mga to introduce colorful shadow high students because greyscale just didnt sell nearly as well as rainbow high because kids want more color.
Personally I think the whole grayscale theme would have gotten a bit limiting and repetitive pretty quickly. So its best to add some color to add more variety. That said I wish Dia had black skin instead of purple.

@@vampyrekyng_lex I think she just should have been grey scale. idk. If I'm honest series 2 of shadow high has not been wowing me. I like Karla and thats kind of it. Monique is the biggest disappointment for me. I would love a flower themed girl where her outfit is supposed to be a flower. but she looks absolutely ridiculous. Barbie did it better with Barbie extra 11.
I don’t mind the color added into Shadow High, but I do agree that it would have been nice for the shades to be a little more muted/dusty, but that’s a very nit-picky criticism. These dolls are so editorial and gorgeous! I love them.

Zooey instantly became my favorite after realizing that she was wearing Novi Stars stuff!! What a throwback easter egg to funky alien dolls I WISHED I got when they first came out. They were so out of this world but alas I was caught up in other dolls lines at that time growing up like MH, EAH, Lalaloopsy and much more. For sure want to get a 2nd hand Novi Stars doll someday along with Pinkie Cooper
I have only one Novi Stars doll and I want more lol. I do have many Lalaloopsies though, many, many. My friend looks pinky Cooper so whenever I see them I scoop them up.
I wish they kept the more of the black and white themeing too, because it was initially what set them apart- HowwwEVER, A lot of these dolls are gorgeous and very well-designed. My takes on all of them to follow! Dia: Themeing serves, but holographic short shorts will forever be 2014 tumblr to me. The fishnet-esque body suit is very cool. Don't we all wanna sparkle? I'm not up to date on the rainbow/shadow high lore. Why she purple Karla: Cool, Cool eyelashes! Very striking and distinct design on the face, but the clothes were a little.. Unspectacular to me. Monique: The opposite sentiment IRT clothing. She's giving very jellyfish and I love it. The graphic eyeliner is so cool! Agree that she feels a bit novi stars-esque too. Cool, unique jewelry. Rexx: Very cool design, especially with the clothes. Wish they could do the very striking, graphic eyeliner the rest of shadow high shares on the guys, that's my one nitpick. It'd look dope. Where he lacks in interesting face design he makes up for in the clothing, I think. I may be a little bias, love goth guys in big chunky boots. Zooooooooey: Haha, the novi stars patch is a cute touch! It makes the patch jacket feel more lived-in and less generic. Reminds me of those NASA puffers I saw for sale on a school trip to DC. Again, What's the lore here? She's cool, but like.. Is she an alien? Very cool hairstyle, Pretty color choices. Glitch: I wish they went a little harder with the 'glitch' themeing, especially in contrast to Zooey who's like, straight up an alien, or Monique who looks like she 'hatched' out of a flower instead of being born. The body suit with the glitch-esque graphics help a bit, but more of a techwear vibe could have been cool, but she looks like she panicked and bought the first things she saw on the 'rave' section of dollskill. You could do a lot with the themeing she already has! So I have hope for the future
But shadows are not necessary void of color, they are just a grey undertone of the brighter colors. So it makes sense to have a more muted and darker scale to the new wave. As an artist I see the colors and hues of these dolls to fit right in with the greyscale from wave 1.

Also as an artist and a collector, though, I was initially interested in shadow high not because of the darker color choices, but because they were entirely desaturated. As far as I'm aware, that just hasn't been done before, especially for a play line of dolls. It helped, of course, that it was executed beautifully! Muted and darker colors have been done before, so while I'm still here for the designs (especially with the fun they're having IRT makeup :D) I think it's fine to acknowledge what made the first wave so striking and unique, and to kind of wish to see what they could have done with that going forward ^^
@@trevor7520 True the greyscale was unique especially with the dark and lighter values of skintone. But the twins are Caucasian (or Asian) skintoned and so is Ainsley so i guess they're the exception and so are these. The purple is striking and the teal too. I love color too but there's only so much grey you can do. If you were to take them and pull thier contrast away from the artwork they would be of similar toned as wave 1. Maybe shadow high has both dark and light and just means an edgy style compared to the colorful cute fashions of rainbow high. I'm excited to see these in person on shelves soon. I'm shocked canada got them first or if it was a do not open until this date when stocked and someone goofed. Either way it makes my choice for just getting one doll with my Christmas money even more difficult. Like get a doll now or wait until these are released and get zooey (i love her teal hair and novi star graphic tee)
I mean there's only so much you can do with Black and white plus I just know people would start complaining after a while by asking MGA to change them up
I feel like if Dia had a silvery skin tone with a holographic finish like Eliza McFee (blue fairy costume ball doll), the doll would’ve been more cohesive. But with the purple skin, she looks like she’s from another doll line for some reason
I don’t hate the more vibrant colors but I do agree with you that if the shades were a little more muted, it would have been more cohesive. But I’m not going to complain. These dolls are spectacular!
You can try a regular pencil eraser to get the dirt off Zooey, without damaging her face. The pink ones seem to work the best. She is gorgeous, but Monique is my favorite so far.
Dang congrats on getting that full line! I think they look so much better than the leaks suggested! I wasn’t planning on getting anyone other than Zooey, but honestly, might get Monique and Karla too. I’m fascinated that the rainbow high line is “normal” in skin tone and then colorful clothes/hair while shadow high is a random bag of grey scale and purple/pink skin tones.

Diamante is actually a French/Latin word that means sparkling decoration like tiny sparkles or diamonds. There is also a Mexican/Italian/American hard Rock/alt singer by the same name. Depending on what language you speak it's pronounced either way you provided us. Hope that helps! 🙂
How curious is how you separate French from Latin as if they were different concepts, when in reality French is a Latin country since the language derives from Latin. But it is a common misconception that Latino is a race.
I think Rexx's trousers are meant to be high waisted. Zooey's space buns are actually called bantu knots. I kind of see what you mean when you say Glitch looks different from her show version. She looks like she has bigger eyes in the show.

You can probably find silver Bobbie pins to put in Glitch's hair. She's the one I will get first since she would look great with my other SH dolls. Also she's the prettiest.

Omg, Karla reminds me of Bella Parker so much😂 Also, Zooey is an alien (this is confirmed info). I have a theory she's from the Novi Stars universe and she came to the rainbowverse for some reason.
Glitch/Reina looks amazing, especially her face sculpt and make-up, just not a fan of the earrings, but as you say there may be a second doll of her coming, I am tempted to wait and see that version. They brought back the hangers, OMGosh! I think I might be willing to buy these dolls (mostly Glitch) considering they lowered the price a bit and that the quality is good.
This glitch is so different compared to the one in the show is probably because she was never meant to be a doll. Her series counterpart was made up of all reused molds just colored differently. The hair clips may come with the upcoming Runway Jade.
I loved your Review of series 2, I loved seeing the new dolls in detail. You made me want to buy them all. Could you please record when you wash the dolls' hair? I want to know how they look with their hair washed and also I love those kind of videos, so I would like to see how you do it
Thanks so much for the detailed review. 🤗 It was really nice to get a full sense of what these dolls come with. I will definitely preserve the boxes once I get my hands on them. All these dolls are much more beautiful than the leaks suggested and I'm tempted to complete the line. I'll put them all on my wishlist and see how I feel once they finally go on sale. Seeing as they are all fashion students it appears to me that this is just a fashion show themed line and not necessarily series 2. The series 2 emblem is also missing from the boxes which also points to this possibility. Maybe the storyline here is that they are hosting a fashion show and glitch is the host (hence the microphone) and Rexx is the sound engineer or something of the sort. I guess we'll all know for sure if this is series 2 or not once MGA starts formally promoting these dolls which should be soon. For me this inspires hope that we'll still be getting second outfits but regardless it's nice to see that the hangers are back.
I’m not 100% on this, but I do believe they were confirmed to be “series 2”. They just lost the label for whatever reason (perhaps to add to shelf longevity).

They're beautiful, and I've just ordered all of them lol My theory as to why Glitch doesn't have all her hair accessories is due to the fact that Jade's runway doll is officially being made, and the hairstyle was originally hers, so they had to do something different with Glitch, and I don't hate it. She looks stunning. But we shall get all the hair accessories with Jade's new runway doll, hopefully! 🖤

The more that I look and think about Rainbow High and Shadow High the more I prefer Shadow High because I like the non-realistic skintones. Dia's face is pretty but that tinsel in her hair doesn't help her cause, they should've given her normal hair.
I hope that RH comes out with little accessory packs for previous characters so that they can all have phones, makeup palettes, and other misc accessories.
They might not have secon outfits but the quality on the outfits they wear is outstanding. Maybe MGA decided to scrap the second outfits to focus on more quality on the outfits they’re wearing. On top of that, there are a lot of mix and match options between the dolls.
Yessss. The quality looks so good and as Jen said, it can be kind of difficult to continue designing two unique looks for many characters. The accessories are fun too.

Correct if I'm wrong but I think Zooey is the only Shadow High doll ( and Rainbow high) to have wedged heels. I think these dolls are so pretty. Can't wait for these dolls to come out in the US. Great Video.

I was watching Poppen Atelier RU-vid channel last night,and she had purchased one of the giant Rainbow High dolls to work on over in Belgium..This doll was 24 " and she was absolutely beautiful .. However, I kept cringing thinking about what Jen's reaction would be when she started drilling holes in her eyes 🙄..She actually did a beautiful job reconstructing her face into a different look but I will admit that I liked her the way she designed before she changed her ..This lady is very gifted and right now I am watching her alter another Rainbow High doll that is normal in size .

Karla and Zooey (minus the glue and baldness...) are the highlights for me. Their soft pastel skintones and hair and clothes--they're just so cute! I wanted a Glitch with the shiny hair accessories from the show as well. This Glitch feels like a different person almost.
