Shadow Lugia Pre Dive in Pokemon Go! 

I remember before gofest21.. speculation was swirling shadow Lugia was the gofest pokemon too.

you aren't considering that the stamina stat is untouched. so for example, if a Pokemon has a high stamina stat or a high defense stat, it can afford the nerf

@@FLWVideosYT yes stamina is untouched but if your Pokémon has say 200 health , and the boss is hitting 10 damage to a non shadow and 12 to a shadow then the non shadow can take 20 hits and the shadow can only take 17 hits then since it takes 20% more damage , thus it has a shorter lifetime by 3 hits If the multipliers were exactly the same going up and down , then a shadow hitting 20% more would miss out on hitting 20% of its attacks since it faints faster and may even miss a charge attack because of that , but we see shadows far out perform the non shadow counterparts , that’s why I’m saying their must be other multipliers present affecting shadows Set up a basic thought equation to look at it We will assume 200 hp , and that the boss hits 10 per hit and perfect dodge the charge attack so they are irrelevant to the equation We will assume no WB and that the Pokémon fast move is 10 attack and the charge move is 80 and takes 8 attacks to fully charge up For the non shadow we would expect to see X hits • 10 = 200 Hp for hits taken , X in this case is 20 for the base form For the shadow X Hits • 10(1.2) = 200 Since it rounds up to a whole number X equals 17 For damage then over a lifetime or a Total damage output , for the base form we would have X • 10 +( (X/8) • 80) -( (X/8)•10) = damage Which is total hits times damage plus the whole number of charge moves used times charged damage - fast moves not used during charge attack animation , which for the base form gives 340 as a TDO per faint For the shadow we get an X of 17 but need to multiply all Damage values by 1.2 using the same formula to give 372 TDO per faint , and this is in the best case scenario where the shadow doesn’t miss a charged attack because it faints faster and overall we can see an at most 9-10% benefit meanwhile we easily see shadow Pokémon with a significantly higher TDO sometimes , I know weather boosts compound the shadow bonus even higher but ignoring weather boosts it clearly is not a flat 20% up and 20% down , the numbers usually show a 12-15% better TDO which accounts for a 20% increase but only a 15-17% increase to damage taken So the math from what I’ve read and checked shows that it is not 20% and 20% but rather 20% and 15-17% which accounts for almost sometimes 15% better increase we see for shadows over non shadows

You are correct it is a 17% decrease to def and not 20%

Lugia is good. Sure the attack isn't great but Aeroblast makes up for that.

@@FLWVideosYT The thing is, an extra 20% from 120 (assume a single bar move) is 24, but it's 40 if you take a base attack of 200. I'm assuming the formula for dmg adds base attack + power when considering those two numbers. Unless im ignoring something xD
