For those wanting to watch but worried about spoilers: Wide angle shot of how big map is, I use a new weapon, shield, armor, and 1 spell. Video explores first area of the DLC. Quick map shot as I warp at 6:05 (note there's so much verticality that seeing the map really isn't going to help you all that much).
Answers to some of the most common questions: Yes there's more +10 smithing and somber. Yes there's larval tears. Yes there's stuff to level the new ashen spirits. Yes it scales with NG+. Go in with whatever level you want you'll be fine. Yes my damage is very high I have 17 Scadutree blessings (85% more damage). Sexy armor is somewhere in the first zone, not saying where here. If you're at start of NG+ you need to re-kill Radahna and Mohg to enter. If you've killed Elden Beast, done everything, and basically are waiting to enter NG+ you're safe to enter DLC. Don't start NG+.
I’ve played so many souls games with you guiding me along, it’s like you’ve been my buddy all these years. I’m so happy you got to experience the DLC early and have such high praise!
I felt this bro Cowboy doesn't stand for bs and is just like the common man's gamer. Like your buddy that you you've been playing with for years that you have no idea where he's from or his name.
Amazingly Good things are Worth waiting for and They always arrive with Perfect timing, and Shadow of The Erdtree is one of those Good things that’s coming along with something else that’s gonna be Just as Good in a different manner non gaming related but still A Wonderful Thing to Receive😀😀
Can’t wait for your dlc walkthrough! I’m on NG+ with my second character and I still follow your walkthrough every time bc of how thorough and efficient you are brother! Thank you!!
@@zbigniewiksinski nah man I agree, it’s an unpopular opinion but Elden ring wasn’t my favorite either. I’ve beaten it once and I’m on ng+ if that heps substantiate my claims. I’ve played dark souls 3 as well as blood borne, with the later being my favorite game of all time. Elden rings aesthetic and bosses were repetitive and everything was gold and bright instead of the gritty harsh nature that I love in souls games.
This is more than 3 years in the making. The team probably already had a small strike force dedicated to start the production on the DLC a year before the game released. Must have been great to see the reception and KNOW that you could deliver something the players would elevate once again 2 years after the main one. Re-installed on a lark a week ago, just so I could finish it for real. And now i am SERIOUSLY thinking about getting the DLC.
I resolved to not watch this video until I had beaten the DLC for myself: I am proud to say that just two weeks after this video has come out I have completed Shadow of the Erdtree, and I am excited to hear your take on it!
Nice job, I can't believe we get a DLC with over 40+ hours of game play. Heck another guy said he's got 65+ hours in the game and he's still finding shit. I'm terrible at these games so I'll be playing it double the amount of time as you guys no doubt lol. Thanks for the great review.
Was going to avoid watching anything with spoilers, but I couldn't resist, and now Friday can't come quick enough! Great video Cowboy, and as always your reviews are top notch!
I just watched a little bit of the video but mainly listened to your review because I don't want much visual spoilers. Thank you, Cowboy. You've been guiding us through these beautiful games for such a long time. I always got a big smile from knowing you're doing great and going up. You do deserve this and much more. Kind regards from Argentina, buddy.
Having followed for many years, from a young man to a middle-aged cowboy, I'm glad you're still here. Also, is my character level 150 too low, dude? Sorry for my bad English
I’ve been watching you for a minute. You’ve helped me with all my dark souls games I ever played. I’m am hard as a ROCK for this dlc. I cannot wait. Thanks for posting this.
I totally agree with you about how beautiful the Cerulean Coast is! I literally spent an hour there doing nothing but taking screenshots. I just couldn't get over breathtaking it is 😍
I was worried that my lvl 170 character still in the first playthrough was going to be overpowered. Looks like it's still going to be quite the challenge. Thanks for clearing that up CB.
Man i cant wait to follow your walkthrough to this. Ive nearly finished your main gane walkthrough. Gonna take me right up until the dlc is released. Thoroughly enjoyed following it.
Two years ago I was watching you play then I bought it now I'm almost to the platinum jus waiting for the dlc to drop and still to this day I'm watching your walk through grabbing up anything extra until dlc
Dude cowboy you were my companion throughout my Elden Ring play-through. I couldn’t have done it without your wisdom and guidance, man. I can’t wait to embark on this new journey with you at our side.
Hello there, fellow reviewer here from Danish Arkaden. I too played through the expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree. I can 100% agree with everything you have to say. This expansion delivers on every single dimension. The world is massive, enganging, and rewards exploration. It is a layered level design, with so many unique ways of getting to points of interests. Tons of new equipment, with new added weapon types as well. The bossfights are top-nutch, and they are easily the most cinematic fights so far, as well. All in all: Be excited for exploring The Realm of Shadow, fellow Tarnished! Best from Denmark, Nicklas
Cowboy or whoever else may need to see this - if you have a high end rig and are still experiencing "lag" it's because Fromsoft games/Elden Ring constantly monitor the status of Device Connections. For a lot of people, you can fix this by disabling Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator" in Device Manager under (view => Device by Connection). For me, I had one USB device that was having issues in a port, the game kept freezing when it was connecting/disconnecting or trying to fix it, I removed that USB and it was fine. Window's Event Viewer can help you determine device issue is the core problem for your specific scenario.
Appreciate you voicing your thoughts without spoiling too much. I work tonight so I won’t be able to play it until super late tonight. I’m beyond stoked to dive in. Also, the summer fling analogy got me. 😅
You are one of the reasons I started finally enjoying souls-likes and From Software cooked. Can't wait to play this and thank you for helping me enjoy this genre.
Cowboy I been watching you since 2015 getting through dark souls 2, 3, Sekiro, RE2, BG3, and now Elden Ring. Keep putting out quality product for us. Much respect man!
@@narukegogetaas far as I know, we actually somehow fight alongside him in the DLC. Wonder if it’s gonna be something similar to Margit and Morgott as in we only killed radahns fake form.
Can't wait for your walkthrough cowboy!!! I've literally done your elden ring base game walkthrough 5 times and I'm going through it again in prep for DLC. You are a master walkthrough guide. Thank you for the time you are putting in. You deserve all the success your channel has received.
Hey Cowboy! Been following since your HOTS videos! Going through your walkthroughs are like sitting down and playing games with your favorite buddy. I bet you're almost sorry the wait is over! Going to do my first playthrough blind, and then I'm looking forward to the walkthrough to get all the details!!! Thanks for all your efforts to build a fun community!
I can't wait, I'm so excited! After putting 1,300 hours into Remnant 2, sadly I'm ready to put it down, and take on something else! Now I can add more time to my already 800 hours that I have invested in Elden Ring! Get those walkthroughs ready! I will be needing them after my first blind playthrough!
Cowboy, I've been watching you since 2016 (DS3 walkthrough era) and ever since, you've bene my go-to source on all things FromSoft. I started watching you when I was in high school, and now here I am starting my first ever job post-college graduation, and still glued to your content. Cheers mate.
I just came multiple times! You weren't quick enough with that map and I got a screenshot probably like a lot of us and wowsers in my trousers!! Thursday night 11.59 is going to feel like Christmas!!!!
I'll be coming back to watch this as soon as I finish up the first area. I am having an absolute blast with this DLC so far and I am loving the UI improvements. Much easier on my eyes and finding new items without searching is great. Especially when a dagger turns out to be a talisman and not a weapon lol.
Thank you for this spoiler free review. The excitement and wait for the dlc to drop takes me back to my teenage days waiting outside GameStop for Pokemon games to release. I am grinning ear to ear. :)
@@BigboostedC5 bro do you want a cookie??? So what if you played them before the “hype” they’re still the same games and your opinion has the exact same weight bozo
Cheers!! Been a souls fan since DaS1 when I played on Xbox 360. I requested off work back in April for the dlc release, and it comes out on my BDay! Thanks Fromsoft for the most epic birthday gift!! 👍
You saved me 100+ hours of my life when I was a kid starting dark souls dude, it like genuinely makes me happy that you got an early copy of the DLC. I’m not much good at video games (I praise my brother for letting me mess around), but FromSoft always drags me back into their beautiful torture chambers kicking and screaming. For the first time I’m gonna try going into a something of their’s blind. It’s gonna suck, but I’m anticipating a lot of fun too.
DLC isn’t that good, Steam reviews are getting lower and lower every time I check. It needs some patches and especially when it comes to balancing, difficulty is way too hard on most bosses. Wish I waited instead of hype buying it. Currently a 6/10 on Steam.
5:00 that hammer dropped for me and on top of that he was the 1st enemy i fought in the dlc... im already using faith so the wep is perfect, tossed golden land 'sacred' with the sacred charm on it and GOD DAMN, used it to fight the blackgaol knight of solitude and it was faster than his wep moveset, already loving this thing. Not to mention the guard counters
@@codybrady6940 it’s the same core structure of what makes a souls game. Just with a twist. If you don’t want to call it that you can definitely call it “souls like”
@kevonmcneil8346 In what way is the core structure the same, though? That's kind of a blanket statement lol One I can't agree with at all. It has some minor similarities in its rest spots and other ultimately minor things. But aside from those it's completely different. More linear with verticality, much more straightforward narrative.. The combat, when approached like Souls, will humble you quick. That should tell you all you need to know 😆 Its a more straightforward, fast-paced action game, centered around a rhythmic back and forth of attacks and parries. I do prefer Souls at the end of the day, but Sekiro is a great and completely different beast and lumping it in with the Soulsborne games is kind of an insult to it.
Thanks for the great review. I loved your walkthrough for Elden Ring! You're the boss! I beat my very 1st souls game and got my 1st plat. Thanks for all your hard work. Ill be along fof the ride with you for sure! Already bought the DLC. Thanks, Cowboy!
Cowboy: i havent found this hammer but it speaks to me. I got to play for about 30 minutes last night, gona really start tonight, and the only thing i have found is that hammer. Kinda made me laugh because its literally at the very beginning of the dlc
They kept leaks for this on LOCK, we didn't find out how many new spells and things until so recently. I was worried initially but man it looks like we're getting 70% of a separate game worth of content! This reminds me of when DLC were called proper "Expansions".
Thank you so so much for keeping the spoilers at a minimum! I was mainly watching this to get ever more hyped about the DLC but i was worried i would get spoiled. Thanks man
I’m bout to go in at 258 and I have all weapons armor etc in base game. Seeing you at 359 with basically everything too reassures me. I can’t wait to explore this dlc.
I remember watching the Dark Soul 2 play through probably 8 or 9 years ago when I was 16 here I am about to be 26 still getting to enjoy these videos love you brother thank you for all the help throughout the years super hype for this DLC
5:01 I just found the hammer at the start of the DLC. If you want to know read below….. If you directly east from the first grace you unlock in the DLC you will be going down a bending slope that’s turning to the north and ends at the Church of Consolation. There is a knight that looks identical to the knight he was referring to when pointing out the hammer. That knight dropped the hammer in the Church of Consolation. It’s called the Black Steel Greathammer. I’m assuming it’s a garunteed drop but when someone else goes there… please confirm for others looking for the hammer that the knight I mentioned dropped it for you like it did for me so people know it’s not a random drop.
Your analogy reminded me of Grease. I like that movie. I'm excited to PvP again with some new toys. Gonna keep an eye on your channel. Every time you post a build, I end up facing it within the day. Gotta stay ahead of the sheep.
Mr Cownoy... I think I can speak for everyone here, in saying thank you in advance. Your walkthrough in the base game was an invaluable resource, and I have no doubt we're in for a similar treat very soon. Int/faith build the way forward? I have a 100% save file ready to go.. although I missed a perfume bottle in the regular capital. Time to do it all again before Friday? 😢😅
I just came from your ds2 sotfs playthrough and man, you've grown alot buddy, I know it was like 10 years ago, but your voice has definitely changed ever since
After completing the DLC, I have two thoughts: 1. The toughest enemy in all of FromSoftware games is those damn dogs 2. “Wide as an ocean; deep as a puddle” This DLC feels as close to “rushed content” we would get from FromSoftware
I honestly didn't expect anything else from the dlc, but I'm glad to see I was right :D Thanks for the review and all your work. Enjoy the hell out of it!
Fricken love cowboys content man your awesome 😎💯 can't wait for your walkthrough you get down in depth beyond over other content creators your the soul boss guide you got love for these games you can tell love it bro keep it up 💪
It would be nice if no one got early access and we all can play it ON RELEASE DATE. Nothing against the lucky ones but we all paid for this and other people getting to play it before anyone else just isn't right. Glad you can have fun.
I'm one of those who had some major gripes with the base game, mainly that it's too drawn out and repetitive for no reason. Now this, this actually looks like the game I wanted all along, open world mixed with ds1 style levels. Seems amazing
