For real, Ryan’s voice acting has really improved since the 06 dub

Yelling is a real cheap way for good acting.

It just might be better than the original delivery. No hate on Jason Griffith at all, but Ryan's delivery feels more than just a little shout. It reminds me that "Oh yeah, Shadow's closest and dearest friend just got shot right before his eyes..." It's traumatizing shit that Shadow had to go through. Ryan did a good job reflecting that with just Maria's name!

There’s also the fact that the song chosen for the trailer, “Ruler Of Everything”, is about time and how it is an inescapable fact of life, and we’ll all succumb to it someday. So it would make sense for that to be broken with a time loop.

Now that we know what the plot of the dub is, it's even more fitting since it's about time, and actual Satan resets time a LOT throughout the dub

@aci6737 Also… “Shot at his wily one, only friend.” This line is last in the first set of lyrics of the song (“Juno was mad…”), which, if you remember the context of the song, is kinda Shadow’s whole deal with humanity in canon! That’s absolutely the best verse to use in that scene in the trailer!

I agree. I like the "Maria!" in the original and I don't think it's bad, but it often struck me as a bit of an odd intonation. It sort of sounds like it can easily be taken out of context since canon Shadow yells it in an almost neutral way? Like, it sounds dramatic, sure, but it could just as easily be passed off as him exclaiming her name after an epiphany or him declaring it in a soliloquy as it could him calling out for her. It almost sounds more like he's surprised to see her than him feeling concerned for her. Ryan's "Maria!" definitely sounds more specifically like he's pained/terrified for her.

Shadow the Hedgehog, meanwhile, is taking part in some seriously unmeldable, multi-branching timeline fuckery. From the endings I remember; he kills Sonic in one timeline, cracks Eggman in half in another and becomes suicidal in a third. Sooo... I'm backing the groundhog day approach.
