Honda Shadow VT 1100 C3 Aero riding scenes. The Vance & Hines exhaust system provides best sound for Honda Shadow 1100. There's also mounted a Corbin Stinger seat.
some people say that this is a wannabe harley, but i rather ride a wannabe harley, because i like to ride a bike, not taking it a part along the roadside al the time, and i sertainly don't feel the need to take a extra job , so that i can feed a harley dealer. Btw, great video. and for a change without music. so when you want clean hands, buy a honda, and when you want dirty hands, buy a harley. it's so simple sometimes.
I might add that Honda really styled this right. It looks better and sleeker than comparable Harleys. I have one and must say the build quality isn't quite what Harley does, but then you're not paying Harley money for one. I bought mine last week for $3200. It has a Corbin solo saddle, Viking Leather hard bags, Memphis Shades Slim windshield, and Cobra engine guards. It's a reliable, inexpensive way to get into motorcycling.
Love the colour, and the bike looks great without a windshield or bags on it. Really lets you see that sort of flowing design that Honda was trying to do with this one. Not real keen on the exhaust, but that's just personal taste - and it's not my bike either. I decided I was going to get an 1100 Shadow next spring, now I know which one.
@bauxi11 Bought a 1998 green/white VT1100 C3 Aero yesterday !!!!! Very good condition with only 9600 km Previuos owner installed completely new Vance&Hines Longshots 4 months ago.He has the same opinion like you regarding carb modification. So on my bike nothing has been modified with the carbs. Unfortunatley winter and snow here now , so only start ups can be made ! But sounds great ! The bike has a sissy bar....... this will be removed as soon as possible
Definitely the best sounding shadow ever. Much more better sound than my one with stock pipes. Do you have any problem with austrian police? New limits are very strict in Austria, I mean. Are you still under limit?
I just love the VT1100 C3 ! Your bike looks very very nice and in top condition ! I am in the process buying a C3 from 1998 equipped with Vance&Hince longshots Have the C3 any weaknesses you know of ? Things to be checked before buying would be appreciated !
I like your bike. I have a black and chrome one. Join us on our Delphi All Aero Forum. You will find all the info you need ref our bikes. We might be able to learn something from you. You might be able learn something from us. I also have V&H Long Shots. We love this bike. Stop by and say hello. I am Frogman172 on the forum.
@MCentusiast I didn't modify the carbs, I still use the original one. I also bought the jet kit, but didn't install it. Some people say that they reach a good rise of power with it in combination with an air filter from k&n. On the other hand I heard from customizer, that it is really tricky to adjust the jet kit and it doesn't bring anything, but maybe an increased fuel consumption. Better to buy a bike with bigger engine.
I used to own the model prior to this one and I can only say, I do f***ing miss that bike! Watching this makes me weep: the sound is just so perfect. Not too loud, not too soft but just right. It is so sad that the entire production of those masterpieces has now ended along with the entire infamous plant in Ohio being shut down for good. All Honda motorcycle productions have now been moved back to Japan....
@MCentusiast The C3 is a wonderful bike. I'm riding it since 3 years, I bought it with 1.000km. I just had problems with the battery and the charging regulator. But I think this was bad luck. No other problems, and I have now 17.000km on it. I wish you great rides with your new bike and all the best. Regards Bauxi
I'm 6'2 and about 190 pounds. I have driven a 2004 ninja 250r for about 2 months. I want a VT1100. Would this be a mistake if I got one or should I get something smaller? After about 3 weeks of riding my Ninja I did ride it around the block and what not so i'm confident in my riding abilities. I have found some VT1100's for sale for about 1,500 dollars and about 20k miles on them. The 250 just isn't big enough for my big ass LOL...
The VT1100 is OK for your size and weight. It is easy to handle despite the heavy weight of the bike of 660 pounds. Whatever your ninja should be easier to handle. It's a great feeling to ride the shadow, but it is at your descretion.
Aftermarket exhaust aside, Honda was clearly trying to mimic the "potato potato" sound Harleys are known for. 45 degrees, single crankpin and all that. Though in Honda's case they opted for an overhead cam design as you can rev it higher than on a pushrod engine.
Ive pretty much only ever rode sport bikes but have been considering a bike like this.... Liked the Honda but the sound was so bad and quiet.... This I like thanks for the upload!!!
I honestly switched from a sports bike to a cruiser......ill never go back, as with the sound, you can put new pipes on it.........you will want atleast a 1100, I had a 700vt shadow previously and it just didnt have enough get up and go
Great bike. Seat is super comfy, great ride height (I'm 5'10") heavier than looks though. Absolutely no complaints other than this model has ridiculously expensive parts. White walls come standard too ;)
Yes, normally I have white wall tires too. They change the look completely. At the time when I recorded this video, the white wall version wasn't available for a long period of time.
Sucking air at Idle replace the stock air box with K&N also sucking air at cruising speeds. That mini backfire and bubble sound! If that doesn,t cure it you'll have to rejet the carbs.
Sweet. I have the 99 C3 in the same color combo and some Vance & Hines straight shot headers, still in the box. Now that I know how great they sound I might put them on it. Great video!
@xu9s Thank you. I can say, it is much much more than the stock version. But I wanted it louder and better sounding, because the stock version in Austria is so silent, that it is really more than embarrassing. It didn't make fun to ride with the stock exhaust. I bought it on ebay from the dealer gm cycles. I can really recommend him. I've put on the Vortex tips at the end. I didn't make any different settings. I also bought the jet kit, but didn't install it. Maybe I will for next year. Regards
Hello, Very nice scoot!! looks lean and mean! I also have a Aero 98 Black and Wine! Take frogman up on visiting the Aero site: Nothing but great folks and great info!!! Im digging the Jacket! what brand? Keep riding!! Gman!
Jürgen Burgholzer Hello Jurgen, glad to hear it....I'm finally riden again and dont it feel great.Love my bike.Love the two tone color. As we say in Maine....ride safe.....Jim
Thanks for the nice reply ! If there are V&H longshots installed must the carbs be modified ? The bike that I am interested in has V&H longshots but not modified carbs
looking to trick mine out a little bit I would like to go 21 inch rim on the front and stay stock on the rear I also would like a bat wing so I can put some music on the front and I like the look I have the clear and chrome one I took off will sell 200
Hi, I have always owned a crotch rocket now that I'm getting a little older I'm looking for something more my age. I found a great deal on this same exact bike and I'm contemplating on buying it. I think its beautiful but have never ridden anything like it. If anyone has any experience with shadow's please give me some insight, I would love to hear you'r input on these type of bikes.
Nafir Alvarez I have a 98 VT1100 AERO and love it. It's a long bike and won't even fit my 8 foot trailer. I have rode 500+ miles in one day with no problems. If you can get a good buy grab it. I bought mine just after hand surgery. I couldn't even ride but wanted the style. It's a fun bike and a real head turner.
Shadows are really good bikes, very well built and fully reliable. And they have character, in contrast to most other metric cruisers. But what belongs to this type of bikes, better try it if you like it. I love it, others hate it. Mostly there is nothing between.
+Nafir Alvarez Ive owened Harleys Crotch rockets triumphs etc... My Honda 1100 Shadow Spirit is the best one out of all of them. Not the fastest but the most comfortable and reliable. My 1100 V65 Magna was a close second.
hello Jurgen, great bike. i'm în love with this aero. i'm curios whats is it near the headlight- the chrome ornament on the left and right of the headlight. it gives the front end of the bike a verry nice look.
Smokeey i got a 2001 vt1100c spirit as my first bike and love it. But it’s a big so make sure it fits your size. But from all the research I’ve done, the Honda is a great bike, reliable and fun.
Jose Augusto Silva You can see technical information here: www.bikez.com/motorcycles/honda_vt_1100_c3_shadow_1999.php For the actual market price I have no Information. But don't only look for the price, better look at the condition. You can find models which look like they are new (like mine). And you can find models you better a scrap.
What year is this bike? And also, I'm a beginner rider. And I was looking at the 1998 Honda VT 1100 C3 Shadow Aero to possibly be my first. I'm a little short though. 5'5 and about 170 pounds. Would you recommend this bike?
Rick Canson The bike is 2001. I'm 5"9 and 158 Pounds and the bike is very easy to handle for me. You don't realize the real weight of the bike. I really can recommend it. Sure, a Harley sportster or similar is easier to handle, but it feels like a Moped for me.
