Today, young athletes can do just about anything and get praised for it. Volunteered at a food bank for a couple hours? Class act. Sent condolences over Twitter? @@rayfeighery3245 Go look at the scoring leaders for this year's World Championship. Not the Junior ones. Look at the names on that board. And please try to say again that Slafkovsky isn't NHL ready. He's the 3rd best U18 PPG in history at the WC (Auston Matthews as an underager at the WC in his draft year, for example, had 8 points in 9 games. Slaf had 9 points in 8 game). That's while playing against lots of NHLers. He had more points than Hischier, more points than Barzal and Anderson, while playing for a much weaker Slovak team. I hope Shane Wright gets the wake-up call that he needs from this, but I'm not sure the NHL ready player is the one that you think. Shane underdelivered in junior hockey this year. Slaf crushed it at a higher level. (Hlinka cup, Olympics, WC, all higher caliber than the OHL, and he was carrying the Slovak team on his shoulders)

I know it must be rough, but the kid should take a good look in the mirror and ask himself how he screwed up this bad. Cooley was drafted before him, that should tell him a lot. That being said, I wish the kid all the success he'll get if he learns a little bit about humility. I think that considering the situation, Seattle may be the best possible place for him. Again, I really was convinced he was the right player for Montreal......until he gave that stupid spoiled kid look at Montreal's table when he got drafted........Come on kid, all but 3 players will get drafted after your...and a lot of kids won't even be drafted. Heck, St-Louis was on stage. The guy never was drafted and still managed to have a spectacular career. You don't get to have a temper tantrum because you weren't drafted first if you want to be a leader...that's my opinion anyway...but again, I really loved the guy and hell, when a trade was announced including Montreal I really sincerely thought the team would get both players and I was thrilled about it...now I'm kinda glad it didn't happen. I know that the kid has plenty of time to grow up, and I hope he will, but right now his entitled attitude reminds me of Nail Yakupov...which truly is a terrible thing.
