If a genetic male is insensitive to male androgens the default pathway is female. This has been long established. They are males who fail to develop external male genitalia but also fail to develope internal female genitalia. I grew up in San Francisco, picked out Shannon (that is privately) as a future world class runner when she was in high school, and add to this I raced track....I can only say that putting on female clothes and beating Shannon would be meaningless....I am male and she is not! Even if I wear her clothes and say "I am trans" I should not be allowed to race her. I think this is the case w Caster.... Male who is insensitive to male androgens. By the way, when given drugs to depress testosterone, Caster is much slower. Shannon is correct in her position.

I agree with some of your points, but in the case of intersex athletes, the testosterone levels should still apply. As Ive said in many other places, if a non-intersex woman athlete were to test at the same levels as Caster, the woman would be disqualified. Just because Caster produces it naturally, it still doesn't mean its right or fair. In his personal life it wouldn't matter. But on the track it gives him a distinct and unfair advantage.
Allowing a transwoman that went through male puberty to compete against women is equivalent to allowing a woman that took human growth hormones for years to compete.

SO many people are okay with this just to be politically correct. However the issue Is that yes testosterone can increase your performance in many aspects of being a athlete. You are able to work out longer, the recovery time is quicker, you build more muscle from your workouts that a person with lower testosterone. And one of the big advantages is increased red blood cells. More red blood cells mean more oxygen can move faster to your muscles and organs. Most of you people are saying " oh yeah good for her breaking gender norms" but the facts are that increased testosterone increases your performance as a athlete, there is no argument that can say otherwise. There is a reason why in MMA fights they test people and if someone has a way higher than normal testosterone level they are not allowed to compete. oh, and all she has to do is take pills to counter her bodies testosterone to make it fair, but she wont because she knows she wont be able to run as fast.

Caster Semenya is not a 'cis' woman. Caster is an intersex MALE who was chosen specifically for that reason. Caster isnt simply a female with 'too many male hormones', rather a male person with an intersex condition.
SeMANya produces more testosterone (T) than the average woman, that is why shim looks so manly. The IAAF said in order to compete, shim would have to reduce T production chemically or surgically. After that, shis times started rising, so the T definitely had an effect on shis performance. Then, an Indian girl (who wasn't a top runner) had the same issue, high levels of T during tests, and was given the same instructions as SeMANya. She sued the IAAF and won. So now the IAAF has NO restrictions on women who produce large amounts of T. As a result, SeMANya stopped shis steatments as well and shis time and performance are back to tops in the womens 800.

these questions about caster semenya make's it seem like she's the problem. the problem lies in that in sports there is the notion that men and women each come in only one type of "packaging". she's a woman with an intersex condition but it's not disrespectful or a "slap in the face" that she competes with other women. what would be really disrespectful and wrong is that she's banned from competing because of her condition. she's not cheating or taking advantage of other women (she runs like 11 seconds slower than men on a good day).
I completely agree and I also think that if everyone is so concerned about a level playing field then there are so many other factors to consider. Olympic athletes have access to better training facilities, good coaches, and their bodies are also just built to help them be more athletic.
There was a remedy in place that the court of arbitration in sport deemed improper. The remedy was to reduce testosterone levels down to that comparable to the majority of women. At that point she had a choice: reduce levels or not compete. But with the ruling, she's free to produce as much as she likes. So the problem is not SeMANya, but the court of arbitration.
The court of arbitration made the right choice in deeming that remedy improper. The IAAF simply did not have enough scientific evidence to show that the extra testosterone some intersex female athletes produce gives them such a huge advantage that it needs to be regulated. Given that the IAAF didn't have enough scientific evidence, the court saw that the "remedy" was a bit ridiculous. Should the IAAF also regulate how much money can be spent on training facilities and coaches so that everyone is on the "same playing field?" Should it force skinny marathon runners to gain more weight so that they are on the "same playing field" as runners who have to expend more energy to move more weight? With its lack of substantial evidence, it seems that the IAAF is just regulating intersex athletes' testosterone levels to create a "level playing field" because it is suspicious of women excelling in athletics. No one is questioning whether Usain Bolt should compete in races, even though his athleticism pretty much guarantees that he will win. Is it unfair that Bolt is so athletically gifted? And what exactly is the difference between Bolt's body and Caster's body that makes it okay to regulate one and not the other?

It should not be an issue as in men some produce more testosterone naturally like 1100ng /dl and some like 300ng/dl so that also gives advantage to the man who produces more over the less producer but that does'nt disqualify any of them. No, she's saying they shouldn't be allowed to compete in the women's race. Males who didn't develop properly but still have similar biological advantages to other males should compete in the men's race or perhaps a third race for intersex or trans athletes. Your analogy about high IQ people having to dumb themselves down to test against lesser IQ people is not quite correct. In Castors situation, no one is stopping her from running in the open (male) category. She's trying to run in the women's category even though she does not truly fit into that category in a biological sense. You probably don't fully understand the biology, and I'm not going to attempt to educate you. A better analogy would be if a person with normal IQ was trying to compete in the spelling B contest against people with Downs Syndrome, and files a lawsuit to be allowed to compete against Down Syndrome people. But to answer you previous question about integrity, these women aren't running for integrity, their running to win, and that's pretty hard to do when they're running against a man.

You guys are acting as if Semenya is a man and would be competitive to run with men. She hasn't broken any world records, and I could find high school boys to run faster than her personal bests. Also, Dutee Chand is not as elite a runner as Semenya but is also an intersex woman, so I think it's fair to say that Semenya's fantastic results are not solely the result of the extra testosterone she produces NATURALLY. Stop comparing her testosterone to synthetic testosterone used to dope -- Chand won her suit against the IAAF because the Court of Arbitration saw that the IAAF had no evidence to show that the extra, naturally produced testosterone has the same effect as synthetic testosterone. And please, stop acting as if eliminating Semenya from competition is "protecting" and "helping" women. This kind of thinking reminds me of the kind of protectionism early feminists fought against; it's the thinking that was behind keeping women out of sports in the first place.
Semenya can easily break the WR, she purposely gives mediocre effort in training and doesnt run all out in competitions. Just watch what will happen in Rio.

Only those female athletes who have worked so hard to compete without testosterone should be able to comment on this issue. No offence to anyone who is intersex but the fact remains it is an unfair advantage to have testosterone cursing through your body. It’s not a fair contest unless it’s like for like. It’s incredulous that people who sit on their backsides should have the audacity to suggest its more important that intersex athletes should have more rights than an athlete that only has one set of gender.

I knew there was a reason I didn't care for Rowbury. Caster has been cleared through testing by the IOC to compete as the woman that she is. There is no unfair advantage, such as in her Diamond League race in Rabat where she came in 6th. It just shows the ignorance and bigotry of people like Rowbury who confuse Caster with being trans. She is not, she is a woman. Rowbury is ignorant on the subject and should concentrate on her own career and training instead of whining how it's not fair, especially since she also had a 6th place finish..
