My guess is that the 10 million dollar loss the NBA chooses to eat is minuscule compared to the net benefit. Why else operate at a loss for nearly 30 years? It's business. It therefore may also be in the interest of the NBA to pay the WNBA players a higher percentage of revenue (no one is seriously arguing they get the same pay as men) to keep the players happy, avoid the drama, and keep the new customers flowing in.
