I love this video because sharay shows how to be a leader in music, but what I don't like is this is all for the Lord and we still find some negative things to say about the people that's playing for the Lord instead of worshiping we focus on what wrong with the band, there was nothing wrong with none of these players but there is something wrong with people judging in the house of the Lord
That's an asshole. Sorry, he may be a great musician, but humiliating a fellow musician by making those faces and scolding them on stage during a show while the camera is rolling is the behavior of a someone I would not want to be friends with.
@@crapadopalese Please don't tell me you are talking about what happened at the two minute mark? If so, brother you need HELP to call Sharay Reed a A-hole, the musician that would host bible study for other musicians in Chicago/ aka Chi-raq! Why would the organist get offended when it is evident he is a house musician that was/is good enough to not be told to not play (double negative)? At the 1:16 mark the pianist clearly tells him to go to the five; he is filling in. Sharay was very respectful, but brother you have to understand they are playing for a major artist, Todd Dulaney, who can hear the chords being played wrong and no one is going to tell the FILL-IN to take out 1 measly note out of his chord? Brother, you should apologize to everyone who had to read you stupid comment, and me for wasting time responding to you! Love you Brother!
Been watching this video for years. This my first time with headphones in and I heard what he told the organist. I was like wow he is the best. Then I see your post lol
Manny U'u there’s nothing wrong with playing a major 7th, but, if you listen to the recorded song, it was arranged with a contemporary approach, the organist is playing the song wrong, the chords may sound good but they’re wrong, he’s also playing over everybody including the lead singer, this is what separates the pros from the schmo’s, play the music and song as it is written and arranged, if not, play your own music 🤷🏻♂️...lol!
wooow...5:44 so well timed...Sharay is just brilliant but what makes him on another level by himself is because he plays with anointing...we can really hear God's heartbeat through him...what a blessing he is to us...very inspiring
This is insane! He is a master! I thought he was just looking at the drummer because he was feeling it but in all actually he was locking with the drummer when he would create dissonance, then he would do his runs afterwards -a rather simple run but 10x more impactful due to his placement!
Sharay has an amazing groove to his playing. Their may be someone out their better but just the way he plays and where he goes in the song no one else can think of. Its amazing!
Instead of just making little faces of disgust sharay is a real professional and a man! Told him hey, straight triads no 7th. Simple! Didn't have to degrade him.
One cannot appreciate that TIME UP sign until you and your media team report to the church at 7:30am for the 1st service and the 2nd service didn't end until 4:45pm, no breaks. OSHA would fine the hell out of a business doing that.
Crazy to know this was Todd Dulaney and to see how they were giving him the time is up sign and now God blessed this man to be one the top gospel artists now.
The organist isn't too loud in my opinion, this isn't the mix we're hearing, it's the monitors on stage. The guy recording is just standing next to the monitors for the keyboard.
They probably wanted to pile on the organist because they knew Sharay was not pleased at first & they didn’t know what else to say lol...but Sharay had an issue with the chords not the volume
The Drummer @ 5:12 Ripped it & Sharay Just had to tag along w/ the sweet lick.. Smh These dudes was gettin it in!! Not too much & not too little going on w/ the musicians, Very encouraging !!
Only a handful of players can play this outfront without getting in the way. So inspirational, but a bit depressing at the same time. A fraction of this dude's talent would be good. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
EXCELLENT!!! EXCELLENT!!! EXCELLENT!!! I really need to find some musicians of this caliber to help me to grow!!!! Love this song!!!! Just bought it on iTunes yesterday when I first saw this!!! Give GOD all the glory!!!!
Just because you're ending the musical worship, that doesn't mean the worshipping has to stop. We are called to worship God in ALL that we do, and that is through prayer, mission, studying His Word, our daily lives, etc.
Im going to be honest, I truly enjoyed it but at the same time I kinda understand about the times up sign. Anybody whos been to numerous musicals and programs with alot of groups know that groups will vamp some things to death knowing they have 2-3 songs AND other groups have to perform. Just this one song/video was eight and a half minutes. Its a thin line with gospel because its worship but at the same time we have to be courteous. If it was the Stellars, you wouldnt get THIS much time
@paulalexanderjohnson actually, times up signslike these are appropriate when you are running a church program and have guest singers, musicians, or even speakers. Ever time a songor a speaker is going on and on is not always the Holy Ghost and even if it is, the word tells us that the spirit is subject to the prophet. You have to know when to cut if off and keep in order with the service. Our God is a God of order and the Holy Spirit will not conduct himself in a way that's out of order.
So yes you can get in the way of God as muscians I have seen where God spoke a profetic word and had to use the loudest person on the front row next to the muscians just so they would stop playin so he could speak or they would've just kept playin. And no it's not because my church is insensitive to God's spirit. It was because of the simple thing that my Pastor states. PUT GOD FIRST!! Thank God for Sharay a man after God's heart. We muscians should try to do the same and God will bless us!
There doesn't have to be a deep and spiritual reasoning behind a times up sign. It's just a neccessary thing when runninig a program like this...like turning off our cell phones during service. Also, we have to discern between the spirit flowing and just emotions flowing. Even if the spirit is moving strong there still must be an ending point he won't operate out of order. I'm a minster and musician. I would love to play bass the whole service but I know we have to move on for the word to come.
I'm thinking its because organs have that big leslie right there so it sounds loud with the camera right next to it.but the mix in the house is much more chill...
Jon Elder If you don't mind, can you point out where in the video he does that? I'm really interested in music theory and I'm trying to familiarize myself with it.
chrissyboey The point in the video I was referring to was 6:04 to 6:08. The progression is f# minor- a major- b major back to a major in the key of e major. At 6:08, he played a D note as a substitute for the a major chord. That makes for more interesting harmonic movement by substituting the bass note. The chord can stay the same but by changing the bass note, it gives the chord a different color.
Jon Elder HAHA thanks so much for putting in the time to find the portion of the video to what I was referring to. And thanks for replying so quickly and elaborating on the theory behind it. I actually guessed what you were referring to correctly. THANKS AGAIN
@pother101 I some what agree, but how is the holy spirit behind a sign that says time is up when all the people are in worship, and they're singing and playing for God?! I just don't understand that. God is a god of order, but he's also a God of many other things such as worship!!
I personally as a penticostal bassist myself do know that you shouldnt put a time limit on God. when there is a move there is a move. but you must be spiritually ready before service to be able to discern yourself.. does the lord wish us to continue? or is my fleshly man just wanting to continually play.
TIME UP eh'...i could see if they were up there for ten minutes or something...i don't get some churches these days...they need to put that sign up for some of these so called preachers that be up there for hours on end...the music is every bit as important as the word...
@ pother a service is man constructed. The spirit never cuts off. If that was the case we would still be opperating in the old testament. People gripe over a long service that is held mainly two days out of th week with very little deal on the essence of Jesus himself. The very essence of God is weird and not crazy. When the holy ghost was first introduced it was strange and clearly out of order to man. Furthermore Gods ways are not ours so to relate our confussion to his can not be compared.
Where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty when we at the mall we perform to shop so the only time we timing things are at church I felt the holy spirit in that worship it had nothing to do with worship or performance. The church has become a man pleaser so church can only be 1 hour to please man worldly concerts was longer than that if that was Fred bet they would not have done that nayar fuimaono if that your name
This service took place after the Stellar awards. It was probably organized by the same people who arranged the award ceremony and did everything inn orderly fashion. It was a platform for artists like Todd to showcase their material.
Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die". BUT, mercy said "I dont want to give them what they deserve. I don't want them to be cut off from Me. I love them despite all they have done/will do against Me. I want to give My children another chance. I want them to come home and live in My love again". And love said "Jesus, God's Son, came down as a Man, our representative, suffering every temptation, pain and struggle we have ever faced, yet without sin. He took all our sins (past/present/ even future) to the cross and then crucified EVERY ONE on our behalf. Justice was paid on the cross so that we can be free from Hell's punishment, experience Gods mercy of forgiveness of sin and live in His love. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (turn away from our sin and pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through Him (not ourselves as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to obey His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and ask Him to help us in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will. NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. If you have any questions let me know! X
