Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), which are created and driven by community residents rather than by established agencies or other bureaucratic structures, approach their work in a comprehensive manner.
This approach focuses on the diversity of needs and/or challenges experienced by communities where the residents work.
Community residents and staff should be at the center of the work of CBOs in planning and decision-making as well as in implementing forms of participatory formative evaluation.

www.casalatinosunidos.org/tea... Contreras earned a BA in sociocultural anthropology from the Universidad de Chile, and an MA and PhD in applied anthropology from the University of South Florida. Dr. Contreras is originally from Chile and has resided in Corvallis since 2013.His career has been at the intersection of applied research, activism, and teaching on topics related to Latino/LatinX communities in the United States and communities in Mexico and Guatemala. His research includes an oral history study of the Latino community of Benton County. In addition, he was Co-Principal Investigator in partnership with East Carolina University on the study, Managed Migration and the Value of Labor, funded by the National Science Foundation.
