Thanks for this video. I watched other people sharpen the VPA 3 blade and I have tried to follow along but never got to shaving sharp. Maybe it was only going one direction or maybe finishing on the leather but I finally nailed it and had all 3 blades popping hair. By the way I used wet dry sandpaper until the leather. Happy to finally feel confidant enough in these heads to put them on in the woods.
@@peterjuulsgaard As a follow up, got a double lung pass-through with one of these heads, the deer never even noticed, just walked off and expired while walking. Sharp works!
I followed these instructions using a cheap Amazon 400, 1000, 3000 & 8000 grit whetstone set followed by leather on some equally cheap 3 blade fixed 🇨🇳 broadheads also from Amazon and they turned out extremely sharp, I had used the sandpaper method before & this time they're much sharper
I ordered some solid three blade broadheads from China. They are stainless steel which are harder to sharpen in my experience. I think some heads are tempered to make them extra tough, but at the same time, it can make them way harder to sharpen. I also ordered the China two blades in 150 grain. Supposed to be a knock off of the Ozcut. I sharpened them with a file, and electric grinder. Shooting them out of a crossbow currently, but may shift them to my recurves and longow setups. Have not killed a deer with them yet. I killed a buck back in October shooting the VPA 250 grain two blades. Total bolt weight was 630 grains. Crossbow shot them at 191 fps. Went thru the deer like it wasn't standing there and buried 5 inches in the ground behind it. Thanks for sharing your passion for archery with the world. It is a great past time.
Hi, Peter. This was a very clear, simple, effective demonstration of sharpening a three-bladed broadhead like the VPA. There are MANY such tutorials on RU-vid, but yours in one of the very best. Thank you. Just now, I discovered that you now have TWO channels, and I'm a bit confused as to why. At least here in western Australia we don't have to worry about 2 3 4 blade broadheads. As long as we don't shoot the native wildlife, anything feral is ok goats,pigs and deer .Good video mate take care and be safe.

Shaperning, always a Zen moment. I sharpen my knives the same way, equal strokes on each side and strop with leather. But when you shave all the hair of you arms, do you start on the lower leg?? That is what I do. 🤦♂️😂
