All jokes aside, that is actually a very smart idea keeping a list of employees who want to save spaces for EV guests like that. "Sir or Maam we saw in your booking you drove an EV, so we had one of our employees park in that spot to save it for you for when you checked in, just to make sure you had a spot."
@42ayla
@42ayla 12 дней назад
That's a maneuver we've used during the winter when an infirm relative was coming to visit. Our neighbour would park in the freshly shovelled spot in front of our house until they arrived then move his truck back to his driveway so they could use it. Sadly you had to wait for the very last second or someone would swoop in for it, never mind they didn't do the work.

@@splendidcolorsBecause it’s not going to be “moved in 5 minutes”…😂 By the time the guest goes to the Front Desk (possibly having to wait 10+ minutes) to ask the clerk, contact an employee to move their vehicle, wait for the employee to stop what they’re doing & go to the lot to move it, then contact the guest, a good half an hour has passed… It’s quicker to either put out a cone, or give specific parking permits to guests by request; if a “rando” is parked there (or even a guest without a permit), tow them immediately…

I love watching cars getting towed when parked in spaces they shouldn’t 😂 I worked at a late night convenience store on the Sunset Strip decades ago, that was in a tiny “strip mall”. We had a HUGE parking lot that easily had over 100 spots, and signage everywhere that stated unauthorized cars would be towed, and “Customer Parking Only”. People would park there at 9ish, walk to wherever they needed to be, then come back to no car… Then they’d try to show a receipt at 2-3am showing they were a “customer” because they bought a Coke 5 hours earlier (the signs also had a 30 minute limit 😂)… The thing is, if anyone just walked in & explained how expensive parking was, and ASKED to park there, we’d tell them where to park & give them something to place on their windshield… Then when the lot was full, we’d call the tow company & tell them to come down (this would be by 11ish), and they knew our system… Every weekend the handful of companies we worked with would expect our calls, and made quick money 😂

I had a random guy drive up onto the sidewalk and park, blocking that hydrant. I told him he couldn't park there, so he flipped me off and walked into the mall. I called the cops and had him towed. As the tow truck was driving away, and the cops were still scratching their heads as to why someone would park like that, he came out screaming at me that it was illegal to have him towed because there's no sign saying he can't park there. I was like, "First of all, there's no signs ANYWHERE telling ANYONE not to park on a sidewalk, because it's common knowledge that YOU CAN'T PARK ON ANY SIDEWALKS. Now I could note everything that was going on and most definitely did, but I wasn’t even in the same state, I couldn’t do anything about it. She's talking as if those spots are handicap spots. Yes spots can be marked for electric vehicles but there's no legal thing where they can get towed unless there's a sign that says that. Strangely enough, I have often seen Tesla's parked in those spots but they're not charging. They're just using it as a regular parking space. More entitled people

If a Tesla is connected to a charger in a Tesla spot, they are being charged. You have a limited amount of time after it’s completed to remove your car from the spot or they start charging you a parking fee.

@@neilkurzman4907 Only if Tesla owns that area not all chargers are owned by Tesla. I personally know of a place that has 3 (I think it's 3 but could be more) fast chargers that were installed privately and are only for that companies employees. I do delivery, so I spend a lot of time in parking lots waiting on orders and I have actually watched people walk up and unplug cars charging at electric parking spots. You confront them about it and they act like they're some kind of hero because they think their hotel rates are going to go up over the electricity cost. That or just some bs like "these people need to learn that they don't deserve free handouts".

Watching this helped me understand what may have been happening at a hotel I stayed at once. I did not have an electric car but parked near the charging stations and noticed that most of the cars in the station slots did not look electric and none of them were plugged in. I thought it was odd, but not needing a one I went about my business and never asked about it. But I'm thinking it was a similar situation to what you presented here. I thought that a lot of inconsiderate people were staying there, but it most likely were also hotel employees. Thanks for the enlightening information.

I think this situation will sort itself out over time. I know of several hotels who have decided not to spend the money to install EV chargers. Granted someone with an EV may decide to stay elsewhere, but someone with a normal car will take that room and the hotel won't be out any revenue. EV charging stations are expensive to install in hotels, are just one more thing to break, and don't induce very many people to stay at that particular property. Swimming pools are another amenity that is slowly going away. Quite a few hotels I've stayed in over the past 2 years tear out their pools as soon as major repairs are needed. Guests still stay there, even without a pool. Guests will still stay at any hotel, based on price and location, even without an EV charger.
@DVankeuren
@DVankeuren 8 дней назад
Yeah, these people think they are entitled to have chargers everywhere they might park. Go to a fuel station like all other cars have to. Find a station that charges electric cars. Can't find one? should not have brought your electric car then.
