alright alright alright I'm no pro gamer about this song but I'm going to say it even though it MIGHT be wrong because everyone says otherwise, but this song is actually called GAUZE and this series involving Kalmia is called SHAMA. There are possibly more songs to come, as the creator Niru confirmed Shama will be a trilogy. So there might be a third song someday...? Now about THEORIZING...After Kalmia kills Gui in Kilmer she goes to jail. Back in Kilmer, there was a woman with similarly striking features to Clay. It is suspected that that woman is Clay's mom and pitied Kalmia as she saw her as a daughter without a mother, as her own daughter didn't have her with her. Idk but pretty, uh, pretty interesting stuff🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️

Also I know I’ve already commented but I think that after her mother died and she got her revenge she developed this “hurt or be hurt” mentality, and for a second you can see her remorse for clay, you can see her concern for just a moment. She’s extremely broken and Clay didn’t deserve it but Kalmia will do anything to survive. Clay finally feels love even if it’s “shallow” clay feels like her sexuality isn’t something to be ashamed of with Kalmia after being teased for so long. It’s really messed up but also really interesting. I’ve had a theory that maybe wozwald (Wozwald) is in a cult connected to sex trafficking (Kilmer/Kilmaa) that Kalmia was involved in but I could be wrong. Have a good night/morning!!

@@shooshiMooshi i know this vid and comments are like 2 years old now (oh well), but I always saw kalmia’s sad/ hesitant face as genuine. From the lighting and the way the shots are set up we can see that Clay had her back turned on her and was already far away when kalmia was making that face, meaning clay couldn’t see it and so kalmia wouldn’t have any reason to fake it. While I don’t think that kalmia loved clay the way clay loved her and that she definitely prioritized her freedom over her, I think she did grow a soft spot for clay, who seem to be one of the only people that treated her in a good way ( the other one from the Kilmer MV having a striking resemblance to her as well). Tbh while it’s sad I’m not holding it against kalmia after the hell she went through in Kilmer (she was absolutely right to k1ll her oppressors/ human traffickers and she deserves to be free). And at least clay looks a bit more happy at the end now that she finally can accepts to be herself (?? At least I hope so). The kind of gray morality the characters have is definitely very interesting to watch.
Although clay was “tricked” by kalmia, she let herself get tricked because she knew that kalmia was using her. However, it wasn’t just because she liked kalmia, it’s also because kalmia accepted her even knowing she’s a girl(even if she knew it was probably fake, she finally felt like someone accepted her). Also, near when they separated, you could kind of see kalmia had an uneasy look on her face, so maybe she actually did care about clay, whether it was love or not. Also, about the theory in the comment you read, the part about how clay sees her as a devil and stuff, sure, but kalmia is also just a different race so idk lol XD I think the setting for this story is like in a fantasy setting that’s more of like an old setting rather than a modern one. Case in point, I think the guy in the kilmaa video was like a lord of some kind. So, there was not only religion holding clay back, but also just the times back then. Either way, I just want clay to be happy and kilmia is a queen to be worshipped.
So, my first watch through, I kinda misinterpreted the message, yet also not at the same time. Let me explain. So, the song is actually about how Kalmia takes advantage of Clay (a girl hiding as a boy) to get out of her situation. This is represented by Clay wearing the guard's cloths and Kalmia wearing prisoner cloths. At the end, their cloths switch. I misinterpreted this as them literally switching places. I thought it was Kalmia wearing the bandages over her chest in order to disguise herself as Clay, and that at some point Clay found a way to disguise theirself as Kalmia (like a Servant of Evil situation, if that makes more sense). Even though I missed the fact that Clay is a woman, it still has the same message: Kalmia takes advantage of Clay to get out of her situation. This mix up, funny enough, gives another dark meaning to the song: it doesn't matter who you are, people will take advantage of you
So the thing about the timeline is that it's split amongst at least 4 videos now. The events of Kilmaa occur when Kalmia is young and obviously you see what happens throughout her life. From there we get both this video Shama and her blink and you miss it cameo in wozwald. In wozwald she is seen servicing a man and obviously we see her in this jail setting in shama. I believe that after she escapes Gui she goes out into the world and develops a kill or be killed mentality where she preys on others in order to survive especially because she already had a tough footing as is. Eventually I believe she gets arrested and charged for her sex work. Which is why she is in jail in Shama. From there she uses Clay to escape while struggling a bit morally at the end. She then escapes and goes that church to repent in the beginning of the Kilmaa video. We also have a new addition to the timeline which is the Gui side story song Arandano where we discovered what led to his insanity and depravity from his younger years. And that about sums up the sad world of Shama, Wozwald, Kilmaa and Gui Side Story. This reminds me of a weird alternative to our world during the early 1900s especially because of a lot of the visuals. Wozwald is obviously based off the earliest points of Disney while in Gui Side Story it feels like an alternate version of World War 1 and the way Gui treats the slaves in Kilmaa kind of reminds me of how Nazis would round of Jewish people during World War 2. It's pretty dope overall how Niru made this wacky universe but also even better that Mii_Yuu enhanced it with his vocal range. Niru creates the tales and he perfects them in my opinion. Anyway I'm glad you're getting into the wacky lore of this world Shooshi.

I’m late but it’s been theorized that after Kalmia gained her freedom she went into prostitution to gain money (why she was shown that way in Wozwald) and was arrested for prostitution. Kalmia also has a long braid, meaning it couldn’t been after Shama after she cut her hair. So it was either in between or during Kilmaa. I want to say in between the two songs because I don’t think Kalmiaa would act that way and was probably closed off from the world/others except for the party in which she killed Gui. It makes sense why she went into prostitution, she needed money and wasn’t a virgin anymore so there was nothing to lose. She was also treated horribly by Gui so she was probably used to it and why she was also able to seduce Clay using what she learned from prostitution. But that’s just a theory 😉

For me I feel like the way kalmia manipulated and used clay was in part due to how she had been abused in the past. I feel like that kind of sexual abuse can lead people into not seeing sex and love as an enjoyable mutual thing but rather something you do because you want to get a favourable outcome. After the stuff that happened with kalmia living as a slave she saw her sexuality as a tool she could use to get what she wanted from clay. Now I don't think clay knew any of this all she knew was that she liked kalmia and kalmia seemed to be showing interest in her. And then when Kalmia rejects her she's still willing to come back to her because she has lived a life of rejection and unrequited love for other girls. So she kinda has the opposite experience to kalmia. Kalmia had to deal with a lot of unwanted violent love from a young age and therefore doesn't enjoy relationships with people and is just desperately trying to survive through any means necessary, whereas clay just wants someone who will finally love them instead of being disgusted by them.

Aaa I love seeing that RU-vid is recommending me more Vocaloid creators!!! I've been obsessed over this song for forever! One thing I'd like to add is right before Clay runs towards the guards the words "for me" appears very quickly. Along with the theory from before I feel that Clay knew all along that Kalmia's love was fake, but decided to help not only bc Kalmia seduced her but to finally come to terms with her own sexuality. Niru Kajitsu's original description of his song says Lily which implies girl's love in Japanese leading me to believe Clay to just be a lesbian. The implications of religion and the girls mocking Clay seem to be the reason Clay dresses as a male as to be seen as more fitting to society as a male who likes girls rather than a girl who likes girls. I also really loved how Kalmia being depicted with horns fits into the narrative as Clay views her as someone deceitful/evil. However, in Kilmer you can see the evil dudes purposefully sawing off the horns of Kalmia's people? And taking their eyes as well. Symbolically it works, but it also appears that Kalmia does actually have horns. Sorry if this was long I just really like this series asFgahshs. I'm really looking forward to the third song!!!

I just found your vids a few days ago while rewatching Wozwald and I’m so happy with the way you approach the songs with watching them and then trying to understand the plot and meaning, it’s amazing. Can’t wait to see your reactions on other vocaloid songs. :D I just wanna recommend two series I really liked in my early days of vocaloid which is the Story of Evil and Seven Deadly Sins by Mothy which are quiet catchy and has an amazing story line.
Funny that you say this kinda thing should have a manga adaptation... might I recommend--if you're interested in more old-school influential vocaloid content--the Kagerou Project? It's a multimedia series (music, light novel, manga, anime, a movie that we pretend didn't happen) that started with hit vocaloid song Kagerou Daze in 2011. It's almost entirely fabricated by one guy, Shizen no Teki-P, or Jin for short, with eventually a small team of artists for the MVs. If you're interested in more banging songs that have you unraveling intertwining character plotlines, this one's probably the most famous in the community. Plus, there are just about solid answers for every "what does it mean??" moment, since a lot of it has been told and retold over essentially a decade. I love your approach to these reactions and your genuine excitement for all of the nontraditional storytelling that this community has to offer, and I think KagePro would be right up your alley! (if you'd ever like more info or even general vocaloid history, im your gal, hmu)
Kilmaa came back to the church after she escaped the prison because in the last video we saw her with short hair at the church and we know she cut her hair to deceive the guards.

NON ON I think that in the middle part, Clay is acc a girl and in her part she was attracted to girls and thats why the flash back was saying "EW Clay kissed me" so like a girl is saying that a Clay (a girl) kissed her. That's why Clay dressed up as a boy, but then she met Kalmia which accepted her as a lesbian or smith thats why Clay wanted to help Kalmia out. I am a lot late but how I was explained the series to is that Kilma is Kalmia's past and then comes Wozwald which is Kalmia on the run after she murders Gui(the amusement part that caused I forget his name to kill himself after it became a place where it had sex trafficking and drugs). This last one is after she is caught and brought in. (I think everyone knows that already tho). Clay is I'm pretty sure a lesbian and after being ridiculed when she was little tries to cover it up, saying I think in the english version 'If only you knew this facade wasn't as it seems'. She loved Kalmia and knew that she was only using her, deep down and really didn't want to see it, instead blinding herself to it. At the end she accepts the fact that she was being used still loving Kalmia. (idk if this was tru its a bit of my perception of what happened but someone explained a bit of the video to me)

Please react to Yoasobi's song "Yoru ni Kakeru". Yoasobi is a duo of a vocalist and a music producer. If I'm not mistaken the music producer once created music for vocaloid so you can see some resemblance in their music. Most of Yoasobi's song are based on stories. The song 'Yoru ni Kakeru' is based on a short story entitled "Seduction of Thanatos". I suggest you watch the MV at least once or twice then read the short story (you can find the link for the original japanese story in Wikipedia and just Google translate it). After reading the story (which will only take you 5-10 mins) watch the MV again and the watching experience will increase tenfolds. For bonus, I recommend you to watch the 'First Take' version of the song where you can appreciate the vocals of the singer. I really like your videos so please consider this song.
