Hey Joey, my brother is a vet and runs an animal rescue and we wanted to tell you to not listen to all the different comments. These people aren't living there and don't know your animals like you do, he thinks she moved the kittens because Moon found them and now she wants to move them to keep them safe from Moon. She's not showing any aggression towards you so she's not worried about you at all. Keep your head up, your doing the best you can for her. Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games ru-vid.comUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!

So, I am absolutely no expert. So this is just something the vet told me when I had kittens. It is important that the mother and the kittens can get away from the heating element. So since the kittens can't regulate their temperature it is nice with a heating pad but they must be able to move away if they get too hot. So it must not cover their entire space. So maybe it got too hot. Only a suggestion. Might be completely wrong. You are doing a fantastic job!

That actually makes a lot of sense. It can be a small mixture of both Joey and the dog but Moon could have been her big "NOPE" moment for sure.

Cats really like small enclosed dark spaces, so she moved them somewhere she feels safer. A good idea would be using a box and cutting a small hole in the middle of it just big enough for Sakura (instead of one whole side like you've currently done). This way the kittens can't climb out right away as it has a raised edge. It's also nice and dark so Sakura will be less stressed. You can also still look in if you put the section with the lid on the top. Just open it when you need to and close it again when you're done. This is what I've used for litters in the past and it always works really well! My cats never felt the need to move her kittens :) I think the box you currently have her in is still too open and moving them into a playpen of sorts would also be a bad idea since there's no cover.

@Mia Cowie If kittens eyes were negatively affected by their mothers raising them in small, dark places every cat in the world would need glasses! A cat's instincts are far a far better way to know how their young should be raised than a silly internet commenter who thinks cats are similar to humans! Sukura is telling Joey exactly how her kittens need to be raised and mom knows best! He should have left them in there when she first chose it as her birthing spot.

She also can be to hot cuz of the heated pad. She regulates her own team and keeps kitties warm. Wen my cat had kittens in summer and it was supper hot she often slept outside of the box when kittens was above one week and didn’t need attention 24/7

I loved this. She moved them around to a "more secure" area in her opinion. Also, if she gave birth in that area, she feels most comfortable there so she will continue returning to it any chance she gets... I know they're all grown up/out of the house in other homes, but for future knowledge...

She is hiding the kittens from moon because she thought moon was a threat to her kittens so she hid them from moon to protect them. So it's normal don't move her kittens back because she will move them again until she thinks her babies are safe. Don't force any areas for the kittens, it will stress her out

She does this if she feels that the kittens are not in a dark or confined space. It’s a natural thing for the mother to move them often. It’s instinctual as in the wild it’s about scent moving. She trusts you though

I have dealt with a lot of cats giving birth in the past ,and what I’ve noticed is that usually when the mom cat starts moving her cats in my experience is usually when a place is too dirty for them, cats smell things clearer and stronger then we do. So although it may not look that dirty to us the space may be dirty to them, so maybe put new towels in the box and try to move the kittens back with her afterwards and see if that helps!

It is good to have two boxes,on closed with a place for the mother to get in and out but also great to have an open box for the first few weeks to months because now she needs to move them.

I’m Sorry But, You shouldn’t be shinning lights in any animals eyes as it could damage them, especially when they first open them as their eyes are weaker. You don’t have to be a animal expert to know not to shine lights in animals eyes. You shouldn’t even do it with human eyes.

It might be that Sakura's getting too warm. I work for an animal rescue charity and we usually give our Mummy's enough room so they/and the babies can move off the heat pad if they get too warm. When mum's feed their babies it raises their body temperature as they produce milk. Bigger box or smaller heat pad? Often if I have an unsettled Mum I turn the birthing box away from the centre of the room and face it toward a wall (Still with enough room for Mum to get in and out of course). This can make even a big box feel nice and cozy :)

Hey Joey, know alot of people are saying about how you touching them caused her to move them and that could be right depending on Sakuras feelinhs towards you but my sister is a vet so I asked her about it and she suggested giving them an area that doesn't expose them to much because after the moon incident she could be worried that he'll find them again. Also she's showing no aggressive behavior which indicates that she feels that they are safe in your presence

@@VG02 Except he said in the video that he knew cats move their kittens around, but knowing it isn't gonna stop him from being worried. Also, doing research on something doesn't mean "memorising/ finding out every little detail about cats/ kittens." No one's perfect.

@@homieswithades2778 Except that should be basic knowledge for someone who had supposedly experienced this before. When dealing with living beings, I wouldn't be winging it or doing whatever I felt like. I'd be constantly researching & asking questions, making sure I'm doing things right. He's not a kid & has plenty of time to do that.

@@VG02 There is no "he should have known" because he DID know cats move their kittens. Again, that's not gonna stop him from worrying and wanting to know where the kittens are. He didn't plan on fostering a pregnant cat so he couldn't properly clean/ block off anything in the room he thought might not be safe, like the cabinet.

Joey I don't know if you realize this, but once they're walking and they're eyes are open they will turn into tiny little furballs on crack. Every second they are awake they will be into literally everything and they're about the size of a rat so anything a rat could fit into they will get into. If you have anything in that room you don't want to get scratched up, (including curtains because they climb them) get it out of there. They scratch/climb/chew on anything they can get their little paws on. I speak from a lot of experience. Also for names I like the idea of zodiac signs. I hope ya see this and I hope it helps ya

She will move them repeatedly if she feels unsafe. Recommend not overwhelming her or kittens til they're walking. My kittens just started walking and I was able to move them out of the cupboard.

@@babeebel I'm sure that played a part in it...but I don't have a dog...and I tried to move the kittens out of my cupboard ... But mother insisted that's where she wanted them. Its understandable to want to hold n touch the babies and be concerned for their well being...but cats have babies out in the wild all the time...they know what they're doing.

I don't think Joey will ever stop holding and moving the kittens. Maybe the dog made her stress to but so did Joey he should stop holding and moving them mom cats hate that. I had a cat that had two litters but if I touched her kittens too much she would move them so I stopped til they started to walk to me.
