@@mickeywonders3764 a lot of women don’t scream that “movie scream” a lot of women scream like the protagonist in the movie. It’s more realistic. And over 500 people agree with this statement🤷🏽♀️
@@mickeywonders3764 I don’t mean literally pretty. I mean the ones that sound too perfect and not at all like an actual scream. But that’s too long to write and most people know what you mean when you say “pretty scream” that it means unrealistic.
Samara Weaving is a modern day “Scream Queen”. She’s amazing in both of “The Babysitter” movies and she’s in the upcoming “Scream” sequel, which I’m _hella_ excited for.
I just typed almost the exact same thing aha, I'd say if she keeps up how she's going, Jenna Ortega will be considered the same soon. 2 modern day Scream Queens is fantastic for horror.
@@omegashinra7672 Oh, absolutely! Samara and Jenna are both fabulous, super likable actresses as well! I would love to see Sadie Sink act in a couple more horror films as well! (As long as they’re good/fun movies like the ones Samara and Jenna have done!) Between Fear Street and Stranger Things, she could _easily_ rise in the horror ranks, if she wanted to! Samara Weaving, Jenna Ortega, and Sadie Sink have the potential to be the modern day Holy Trinity of Scream Queens and I _really_ hope that it happens as I am _sooooooo_ here for it!!! 😍
@@hanng1242talent isn't hereditary, always finding a way to discredit women's hardworking, not saying you did intentionally but still, such a weird thing to say
I totally agree Alex is the worst but he’s the most interesting character to pay attention to on rewatches of the film. The thing you have to understand about Alex going into the rewatch is that Grace is 100% correct that he’s selfish. It’s what drives his every move throughout the movie and helps you understand why he turns so fast at the end. It’s not that he thinks Grace killed Daniel it’s that he just lost his favorite family member, then comes to the realization that Grace isn’t going to stay with him if they both survive. That’s what pushes him over the edge and firmly back on his family’s side because he thinks if he’s going to lose her anyway then why should he lose his entire family along with her. It’s so unbelievably selfish and gross but it’s such an interesting part of his character that every single move he makes in this movie is selfish as hell.
Aunt Helene was the bride shown in the beginning whose husband was killed, that’s why she‘s so bitter. Also fun fact, „Le Bail“ is an anagram for the French word for „devil“.
maybe because it's nearly 3 am where i'm at, but I speak french and I cannot figure out for the life of me the anagram you're speaking of. Démon, satan, le diable... but nothing I can do with "Le bail". It's driving me crazy lol
I think as a character, Alex was beyond redemption. He knowingly brought her into this and didn't warn her. So I find it interesting when people see him in a sympathetic way. He's the worst of all of them because at least his family members are honest with themselves about what they are all about. One of my favorite moments in this movie is when she is hiding in the dumbwaiter and then says something like "That's enough of that" and gets out. When I saw this the first time I was wondering "How long is she going to stay there?" right at that moment. That's when I knew I was in tune with this movie.
If you like those kind of characters, I think you’d like the movie Revenge, lead character is another badass and hella smart blonde. And of course, you have Kill Bill but I’m pretty sure those don’t count.
When you ask if she’d join the rituals if she picked an easier game, the answer is no. That’s the point of the ritual. The only people who draw the “hide and seek” card are the ones Mr LeBail knows won’t join. That’s why they have to die.
Really liked this movie when it came out; great reactions from you guys. Point of Interest: Daniel only cares about his younger brother Alex; he's been protective of him even since the beginning (opening scene when they are kids). When they're older, he knows Alex (who has abandoned the family prior to the wedding) just wants to leave. Theoretically, the only way to leave is if the new spouse (Grace) wins Hide and Seek, and chooses to save the family member they are marrying (Alex) - the other family members are doomed for losing, but the new couple would be a new "family". If Grace decides not to make a literal "deal with the devil", then she and Alex would be free. This is what Daniel was willing to sacrifice everything, even himself and his wife (level of affection there was questionable at this point, anyways), for - freeing Alex. Unfortunately, he dies before Alex ultimately changes his mind and decides to kill Grace. Had Alex continued to try and save her and she won, she could have still chosen to save him from being... exploded... and divorced him after he was freed from his family's deal/curse. Instead, because he was a short-sighted dumbass, he dies when she rejects him - and gets a nod from "Le Bail" (a play on "Belial", a name from the Old Testament that refers to the Devil/Satan) for a game well-played. 🤓
@nightowlowo149 yes you can, and it's not a personal analysis of a character lol its literally just the plot of the movie and what would have happened if certain people chose to do something else.
The most satisfying thing about this film is she absolutely goes all out to survive this nightmare BUT think about the fact that she’s now the only surviving member of a very wealthy family, by marriage of course but with no contestants she WINS it all.
Didn't think I would enjoy this movie when they were promoting it, but man I had fun watching this. I forgot the actresses name off top, but she is a scream queen fr. Her screams were the best in the film lol
Samara Weaving is the #1 modern day Scream Queen, she's popped up in a lot of good modern horror movies over the years and is fantastic in all of them. It seems like Samara and Jenna Ortega are going to be held in high regard in modern horror and I love having new scream queens. The last decent one I can think of is Neve Campbell.
“f- the rich” triple feature parasite/knives out/ready or not also fitch is played by kristian bruun, who is also incredibly funny in orphan black!! i wish more folks reacted to that series, such a great sci-fi show led by tatiana maslany (the new she-hulk!) hope y’all can check it out someday
The secret to winning Hide and Seek is taking the high ground, when playing in a field go for a tree or climb a fence, when in and around a house, climb onto the roof. No one seems to look up for some reason. I once hid on a roof for 4 hours, that wasn't hide and seek but the point still stands.
I truly believe Alex is the biggest villian here. Because he knew what could happen and so blindly believed it wouldn't happen to *him* and *his* wife, that he proposed in the first place. He saw his siblings get married and neither of their spouses got murdered, so of course he thinks he's in the clear. I'm assuming this probably happened every generation to at least one of the kids. Alex's mom survived, but his uncle didn't. So if he thought about it that way, it would make sense that since his siblings spouses didn't pull the card he would be the unlucky one. He just thought he was above LeBail's curse.
This is a crazy concept for a marriage day ritual of your family hunting your future wife it’s crazy as hell but damm the movie does pull it off oh and btw yes hereditary is even scarier if you want to that also the witch is a masterpiece but then again everything Robert eggers does is lie, the Northman and the lighthouse with Robert Pattinson and Wilem Dafoe
45:28 - you tell the police exactly what happened (psycho game, all the deaths, barn with goats) - up until they had her tied to the table in the end. Then she says she passed out, woke up, no one there, room is full of blood. She inherits all the money!
definitely a dark comedy in the vein of the scream series. Still will scare you, but it breaks up the tension with a funny situation that is perfectly timed. This and Knives out were my favorite films of 2019 as well as my most anticipated.
Sorry if this has already been said, but the wedding dress symbolizes many elements in the characters story as it transitions from white and whole, to dark and shredded- the destruction of her ‘purity’, her marriage, and her love for/trust in her husband as he betrays her over and over again (passively then aggressively). And yes, SW has an amazing scream. It has range and notes! You guys should watch her in 3 other dark comedy horror/action films, that are pretty good- guns akimbo’, ‘mayhem’, and ‘the babysitter’.
Theory: the devil knows who will work with the deal and who won’t and either requires that person be sacrificed or else good wins and they are not cursed with that burden but will still get the reward. The girl wouldn’t work with the devil. So she had to fight and eventually won. When she won all the family members died. Now she inherits all that wealth. But the games are done for her.
My point is the game is only to kill the new person if they are unfit for the devil’s deal! The one girl was poor and had given up her soul freely. She wasn’t given such a game. Nice girl Samara however gets death. No deal. Just like the husband in the start who must’ve been a good man. Otherwise the games would have brought him into the deal happily!
I love this movie! I recommended it to my Mom, who hates stalker movies, and she was none too pleased with me. But I got a laugh out of it. Samara Weaving was so good. She needs more spotlight roles. P. S. Did you notice the name of one of the games in the display case was "Family Ritual"?
It hasn't even been a month that i came across your channel and I'm already quite hooked with your content but what hypes me the most is you guys discussing the shows and movies you watch. Your friendship definitely shows. Keep up the good work. 🤙🏻
One of her earlier roles I remember was a soap we have here in NZ and Aussie called Home and Away, her uncle is Hugo Weaving, and she’s come a long way since her days in Summer Bay. A certified Scream Queen
Idk if someone else already said this but I really like the theory that the only reason they exploded was because the aunt tried to kill her after dawn. Alex tells her in the beginning that she doesn’t have to win the game she just has to play so would they have actually exploded if they had just let her live after Dawn. I’m sure other members marrying in have won the games before and they were just fine so if she won the game they probably still would have been okay.
Samara Weaving was a home and away girly like Margot Robbie was a neighbours girly before she hit hollywood. We love the Australian talent and representation 🫶🏻
I think that every member of the family would have been safe if they didn't attempt to kill Grace, but instead attempted to help her. If Daniel managed to not get shot by his wife, I always thought he would have been saved. Just like if Alex didn't betray Grace, he most likely would have survived. And I'm pretty sure that he managed to realize that too, and that's why he was apologizing to her at the end, saying that he didn't want to die. So I think he realized the same thing.
Samara Weaving is signed on for the new Scream movie, she’ll be a good fit. Don’t know if you’ve already watched it, but you should really watch “You’re Next”, think you’d really like it.
So I’m sure being the survivor of the family she inherits their money, but I wonder if that means she has to continue the sacrifices in order to keep it. I’m sure in that case she gives it up, but she deserves it all after that.
The Loved Ones (2009) Lake Mungo (2008) Identity (2003) The Void (2016) The Voices (2014, with Ryan Reynolds) I recommend you these horror movies, the last one is a comedy.
I'm at 14:43 here is the info y'all missed. 1. Yes it is every marriage that equals a game. 2. The game is chosen by the card. 3. The game changes because it's chosen by the card. (This is why the guy said wtf is old maid because that's the game he had to play) 4. The guy in the beginning had to hide because he was the groom at a wedding. He drew the hide and seek card and since he was the new member he had to hide. 5. The game is played until dawn. You have to avoid being found (and therefore killed) until dawn.
There’s a really fun fan-theory that had Aunt Helene not attempted to kill Grace after dawn, they might’ve all lived, just because of the delay from when Helene said it was almost dawn and when she exploded. Presumably, LeBail only executed everyone as a penalty for Helene continuing to play/attempt to kill Grace after time was up. It said in the rules that they had to kill the bride before dawn, but I think the family just assumed, “if we fail to do that, then we all die.” Clear directions and rules of game could’ve been lost through several generations, and we saw that the family didn’t adhere to the rules as time went on. Hell they cared more about introducing new rules to the game over the generations (security cams, mask, etc.). Still, attempting to kill PAST that time limit, of course they’re gonna be “penalized”. It’s like, imagine scoring a goal after the ref blows the whistle, and the crowd is already leaving the bleachers. It’s a scummy thing that’d go against the rules of the game; doesn’t matter how good of a shot it was, the game was called and you didn’t get it in time, so it’s your loss. Helene’s selfishness to make sure Alex suffered the way she did (to lose her new husband) was her downfall. She put her selfishness over the rules of the game, and so the family received their penalty. Idk, it’s a fun little theory imo
Jennifer's Body was basically made for the girls and the gays (of which I mean me 😅), so the humor does go over a lot of people's heads, unfortunately!
A couple of things, since Grace saw Mr. Le Bail, does that mean that she has to carry on the tradition? and second, Daniel and Grace had more chemistry than Alex and Grace
If I were her in this situation, as soon as I got out and was in the open and that car didn’t stop for me I would’ve just followed the car, I would’ve walked, skipped, ran but I wouldn’t have gone into the woods across from the property. Would’ve just followed the car, that car should’ve stopped. But that’s the world we’re living in unfortunately. I would’ve stopped if I something like that.
Haha did anyone tell them about The Babysitter? That's where I first seen Samara Weaving..another hilarious horror to jump on! It's crazy she's Hugo Weaving's niece- the elvish king from lord of the rings.
I saw Silence of the Lambs when it came out and that movie seriously freaked me out for several days. It's a psychological, thriller, drama. I'd never had that kind of reaction to a movie before and I haven't since. I don't know if you guys would find it scary but give it a try.
I must recommend the movie "Incantation"! It's a Taiwanese horror film and is one of the scariest movies I've seen in a long time. I recommend the subtitled version, but there is an English dub if you prefer. It takes a lot to get under my skin anymore, and this one definitely succeeded. Other horror films that I think are pretty scary: ~Hell House LLC ~As Above So Below ~Grave Encounters ~Session 19 ~Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (Korean horror) Honorable mentions: ~1408 ~The Houses October Built ~The Last Exorcism ~Chernobyl Diaries As a point of reference, I don't personally find "Hereditary" to be overly scary. Also, "The Witch" is good, but it is not overly scary; more creepy with a sense of hopelessness.
This is one of my favorite movies from the last couple decades in horror, fr. It’s always such a blast, and I’m forever in love with Samara Weaving because of it. Matter of fact, when I first saw her in Scream 6 I was both excited as hell and also SAD as hell because I knew she’d be the first death. Which like, really sucks. Anyway, when I heard Radio Silence would do Scream 5 I immediately said “this is gonna be AWESOME”. Which it was.
Love this movie. We had to wait so long for it to be released in the Netherlands, so I couldn't help but watch the trailers (Something I don't do anymore). In the end this movie perfectly fit my expectations of it and I was so relieved and so glad. Absolutely love Samara Weaving. She's a great actress.
Thx for the review! When I watched the movie, I was under the impression “justin” was in on it… he knew it wasnt stolen, he probably worked for the family and disabled the car so she couldnt get far… and allow time for them to come find her.
Every time people say they never saw anything about this movie or never heard of it or don't know what its about I'm always like how? Lol. I'd be watching this and taken back to when I first seen the trailer and heard people talking about so and so is making this movie and its usually a well known director or like in the trailer they'd be like the director of hereditary and midsommar is making this or from the director of get out and us this is the new movie. I think this is same director of the babysitter one and two which are horror comedies and both have samera in them too lol. She's like the best babysitter lol.
I love the Horror/Thriller reactions. I'd love to see you guys react to Black Phone and Sinister, both starring Ethan Hawke, I think you guys would really like those.
Hereditary is F'd up! Jennifer's body is so underrated. The VVITCH is more of a thinking person's horror. Many people don't get it. I think it's brilliant.
If you guys want actual scary horror movies I recommend - Hereditary - Evil dead - Suspiria (2018) - The descent - Insidious - The conjuring - Black christmas (1974) - It (2017) - Sinsister - Oculus - Don’t breathe - As above so below
I love this movie definitely one of my favorites. I am not sure about this but one of my takes of the ending is since Grace won the game if Alex did not turn on her he actually could have survived. He did not explode at first in till she said she wanted a divorce and threw the ring at him. Just a thought. Plus I loved Daniel redemption it does suck he had to die
We are making fun of Emilie but she is the family member with the highest body count so whose really winning here? I’m just saying! But really Grace is a bad ass and this family messed with the wrong one!
I loved this didn’t really see it as a “horror” tbh it was more funny at times it’s definitely a horror/thriller/comedy, I also I think the Hunt was pretty good amazing and bad ass female lead 👏🏾
Been saving this bad boy for a wine night! This movie was a treat, a great surprise, you should check out Hunted if you liked this. Wine, and weed for my balcony in Australia.
