This is amazing because I just moved to Jamaica from Florida in March 2020 all by myself at 21 years old! I’m actually working on starting my own vlog now so I would really love the support❤️❤️❤️
That's awesome! You have my support on your channel for sure. Any questions or openness to share transition war stories I'm down. I can also put you in touch with Rahel. She's a great person to speak with. What's your IG? Mine is @throp
Jamaica is that itch you can't reach, it courses in your blood stream, cascades in on your thoughts, that addiction you want no cure for. It brought me there 6 times, got me married, hoping to move there for good down the line.
People are leaving other countries to come to Jamaica while on the other hand people are trying to leave Jamaica 🇯🇲. The grass is not always green on the other side.
I have been coming to Jamaica for 4 year’s several times a year and I am currently in Jamaica planning to move back. Jamaica has its challenges, but also much potential. It is an absolutely beautiful country. I thank God ever day that I was born here. Welcome to Jamaica 🇯🇲
Thanks so much for watching and thank you even more for the feedback. I really appreciate that. This is my first time doing something like this. Thank you again
Jamaica is my second home! So much love and respect for the people and the culture! My husband was born and raised there, but came to Canada in 2019!!! I took 23 trips there over 2.5yrs. We can’t wait to go back once this world gets back to somewhat “normal”
That was excellent. I’ve noticed that there are quite a few young people from Canada, the US and UK primarily with Jamaican families moving to the island. I’m so inspired to see young people take such bold steps and this beautiful island will benefit from it. I hope you will take this format forward. I love to see you post a bit more
Thanks so much for watching. Also thank you for your support and well wishes. I’m committed to posting once a week. I plan to have another one out next Saturday. Thanks again for watching
When you know what you’re looking for in a place, the good outweighs the bad. Thanks for sharing...just the view in the background alone is enough for me...🤗
Amazing... I wanna move there too soon. Im 42 i wanna be there with 50 and enjoy my rest of the life. My man have a house down there and life is a risk but jamaica is a beautiful country and it makes me happy. And thats all what matters.
@@rockbrown8779 i am a Jamaican and I say what I see so don't tell me that i am negative right now Jamaica is number 3 most dangerous country to travel to ok so go to hell
I find it interesting our Jamaican People are always, always saying that Jamaicans don't appreciate Jamaica. (When a person from another Country who was never born in !!Jamaica!!) Decide to give their opinion about Jamaica🤔🤔. Every Jamaican appreciate Jamaica !!FACTS!! We do love our land of birth. We left Jamaica because of all different reasons. For myself if I had stayed I would never accomplish what I have never. I always come back and vacation spend my hard earn money that my Jamaican People want to over charge me for everything because I am on vacation and live in USA. Jamaicans send the most barrels next to Haiti. We take care of our family back home so they can look great, nice houses to live in. We don't appreciate Jamaica..STOP THE MADNESS🙆♂️🙆♂️🙆♂️. We still have a house there😎😎. A lot of these Foriegners never even own a house where they come form. They see snow during winter, no beach. Yes there are beautiful beaches in USA too. Oh please the way we take care of each other you think Foriegners build houses for their Families? You Jamaicans talking all this madness needs to take Several Seats all the way in the back. Big up all the Jamaicans who stayed home and keep our Country going and all Jamaicans all over the world who work like a slave in Foriegn Country who are discriminated against, who work 3 jobs to help with the Jamaican economy. Check out how many billions we send back home.🤔🤔 YES JAMAICANS LOVE JAMAICA. Where were you when the Foriegners telling us to go back on the boat. Comedians making fun of Jamaicans working 10 jobs. We took jobs they never wanted to make our Family back home live well and enjoy nice homes & cars that you can't appreciate . Foriegners are impressed by the way you live some of them don't live like you in their own country they are fascinated. Jamaicans are resilient don't forget that. Think before you all running the MOUTH.
All the best, I can’t wait to go home, I’m in the process of purchasing a house there, but that’s not the easiest thing to do from here (USA) but I’m working on it...
After Trump I realized that I need to put Jamaica in my heart again as my true home. The crime makes it scary, but I already am putting together my plan to move back by 2023. I’m there every other month anyway, and I love my trips more and more.
Crime is worldwide..U have to do something really bad to someone to get killed in jamaica, its even more safe in jamaica than some foreign countries..When a person come for someone in jamaica they come for that one particular person they dont finish the whole are like other foreign countries
@@ThropPlus *Mocha* visit *Negril* pretty often too. She did a live feed yesterday from the *Negril Tree House* where she hosts *Black Expats in Jamaica* It's a large community. Also there's a young lady along with her mother and siblings from *California* her name is *Jo* and her channel is *PhoJographer* .. Plus *Annesha Adams* a *Canadian* is well known as an expat too....😊
Thank you Rahel for sharing your personal experience on taking the leap to step out on faith and move during the Pandemic when everyone is afraid to go out and explore. Thank you also for sharing that Jamaica is still a wonderful place to visit and live.
Loved the interview! It was so genuine and well done in regards to your questions and camera footage. It was very interesting to watch. God Bless! You are on the right path. One Love 🇯🇲
I'm very inspired by this video, I am Jamaican and I would love to move back one day. After 35 plus years in the ice box for me, I think it's time for me to make a move...
35 years old bredda? My major warning to you old man is that things are very expensive, congested in the major towns and cities and anywhere near town in real estate is very expensive.
I left ja in February of this year , I’m already dying to be back home. I want to go back in 2023 . I was kinda having second thoughts when I hear the price of building a house🤣 but she definitely just put the icing on the cake for me because if she’s American and left the big USA for Jamaica despite the challenges who am I not to go back when my heart wants to . I really appreciate this video.
She stated, she's originally from east Africa, the transition wouldn't be very difficult. I find, African Americans , not all but most, have a difficult time adapting to Jamaican society. Jamaica is not America.
I am "Black American" and am back n forth to Jamaica. I have a car and apartment there. The "adaptation" was not difficult at all. Ppl just move slower. I grew up in D.C., and Jamaicans have been a part of "my" culture from ever sense. I work remotely as well and will be in Jamaica too. The exchange rate is insane 😳. East Portland and beyond are the "best." 🤗
@@mountainbikeshorts6694 I don't blame them. Crime is the cancer. Sigh. And most returning residents have had it bad. Someday it would get better as I wanna retire there.
You did an excellent job. I can appreciate when guests can finish their thoughts without constant interruption from the interviewer. 🔥🔥 Keep them coming.
Please interview Misti, she's American and been living there for a while now. Runs a Negril Facebook page and does tremendously well in promoting Negril.
Haitian from Canada, been in Jamaica for a few months now. But being a tourist, I can only stay 3 months without requiring a visa, so now I have to leave this beautiful island :( but so grateful to this wonderful island for receiving me, once again!
Thank you for watching! You can get a 3 month extension fairly easily if you'd like. If you need any help with that please let me know. You can DM me on IG @throp

This is some BS she must be living in a Gated Resort...mind you don't get Duppy she will soon learn , Jamaicans are scared to go back they might not leave alive to Bloodcleet this some BS Wish you were here Fantasy BS..Cha
I traveled to Jamaica many years ago and enjoyed myself tremendously! I am teleworking now and can retire soon and thought about a getaway from Philadelphia too. Thank you for this! What a blessing to hear someone else’s experience of moving away and living in Jamaica!
I am also from Philadelphia... I go to Jamaica every other month I stayed for 30 days and I am not trying to move there permanently. When I come I now look for a place to live.
Awesome. If there is anything I can do to assist please let me know. I’d be more than happy to help. I have friends who are real estate agents and landlords. Please feel free to dm on IG @throp
The banking system sucks in Jamaica. I was born in Jamaica and I wished that I could return and feel safe, especially since I have a son who is diagnosed with high functioning autism.
No need to be negative. Everywhere has something that sucks. If you no longer live here, don't speak for us. Hope where you live it's sunny and bright and perfection. Jamaica is God's Little Country and we are blessed!!
@@monami3402 hold up, 🤔so are you telling me that the criminals who are running wild in Jamaica and dashing weh ppl 24-7 is a sign of positivity and I should embrace that? 🤔 Are you telling me that the fact that I was harassed, molested and raped several times etc in Jamaica it’s a sign of positivity? 🤔 Are you telling me that though I am living outside of Jamaica going on 20 years and have never experienced sexual harassment etc in another country...all countries have the “same HIGH” crime rate like Jamaica; yet, I am just LUCKY enough to never had such experience? 🤔👀🤷🏽♀️Really, are you telling me that just thinking positive will prevent a guy in Jamaica from grabbing my necklace, ring and take away my money? Are you also telling me that just thinking positive will reduce the gruesome crime rate that’s getting out of hand that’s affecting Jamaica’s people? Last by not least, are you telling me that the fact that the minister has to call a meeting regarding brainstorming a solution for the high crime rate in Jamaica the crime rate still is NOT high when compared with most countries, it’s ALL because I am NOT thinking positive? 👀😳🤷🏽♀️🤔FYI: Nowhere else in the world I have been and experienced a criminal with a GUN at my neck but in Jamaica. So, please don’t tell me that my experiences should be shoved underneath the rug and I should just think positive because I have done that all my life in Jamaica and I was still a victim of crime in 🇯🇲; hence, who feels it knows it. If you feel as if thinking positive is the solution to crime in Jamaica, you continue to do so, but please allow concern citizens to continue talk and brainstorm solutions for the crime problems in Jamaica.
@@monami3402 Apparently you HATE the people of your country so much that you are encouraging them to be positive even though it’s obvious that Jamaica’s crime rate is getting out of hand. Patriotic people want better for their country and those with common sense know that pretending as if there isn’t a crime problem is NOT a solution. My relatives still in live in Jamaica; plus I was born in Jamaica so how dare you telling me to not want better for my birth land all because you want nothing but continuous evil to continuously stain Jamaica land we love. 🤦♀️I truly have to shake my head because those who don’t have a problem with crime in Jamaica are often the first to cry when their love ones are “dash weh” by a criminal.
Patriots build. Not tear down. Have a super blessed day where ever in the world you are. We continue to give God thanks always here in Jamaica. Land we love and will always do.
@@monami3402 exactly, so if someone is patriotic he or she WILL definitely be upset about about how criminals are destroying 🇯🇲. FYI: being blatant and honest about the state of Jamaica regarding criminal activities is in NO shape or form of tearing down the country that criminals are already destroying, but if you think so I guess when your parents told you that you were doing something wrong they were tearing you down as well👀🤷🏽♀️😳. I pray that most Jamaicans will one day see criticism for what it is, just criticism. Notably, those who love you or 🇯🇲 will NOT refrain from expressing disdain about wickedness instead of pretending as if there isn’t a problem. Would you see your friend being raped, abused etc and you just think positive instead of kicking up a storm? 🤔All the best!
Jamaica can be a great place if you have money. And make sure you have a home.I remember ,how I feel when I live there. I was born in St Andrew and I love my Country I move to America 31yrs now and I don't miss Jamaica. I am more afraid to go back now.You have to be looking back, at the bus stop. I don't even want to take the taxi .
I live in Philly & Love Negril which is why I choose to visit every January. Even seen ya running on the beach couple of times. Looking Good Papi. Great interview.
You say you "do not speak patios" as if it's something bad!?!?? That came off very negative, condescending and to be quite Frank offensive! I embrace my country, my language & my culture & my people! Smh. Thanks for sharing the info & thang you to this young lady...but that comment definitely threw me off!
Oh nah that’s didn’t mean it like that. I don’t speak it bc I can’t. I’m terrible at it. You would laugh. Trust me. However I take great pride in being Jamaican. I fly that flag high and proudly!
This is awesome to see! I came from Maryland in November and still here. How can I stay past 6 months though? I’m totally in love with Jamaica. Can I be a refugee or what!?! 😂
😂😂 thank you for watching! That's awesome you've been here so long. From what I understand it's fairly easy to get an extension these days. We definitely want you to stay!
Nice video but too much virus talk. Wanted to know more about different things. What are her long term plans? Post pandemic will she start travelling again or is staying in Jamaica permanent thing?
I hear you. There are definitely some key questions I would have liked to ask. I’ve already reached out to Rahel about doing a part 2 and she’s more than happy to come on again. I’ve made note of your suggested questions. Thank you for that
Sorry but this video wasn't very informative about making a move to JA..sounds like she's on remote assignment in a tropical island for an extended period of time..
Appreciate you watching. I can definitely make an in-depth video on the different aspects of moving to Jamaica. Also if you have specific questions on the topic I am more than happy to help in anyway I can
The government is actually rolling out a program to encourage digital nomads to come to the island to live and work here remotely. I believe Barbados was the first country in the Carribbean to offer this type of visa
thanks for the comment. What do you mean when you say regular work? I have a lot of suggestions/recommendations when it comes to working remotely or living/working in JA
I felt that way my first time there. And I am really thinking seriously about it! I'm retired but I can work remotely if I choose to. Great interview y'all!
I relocated digitally 8 years ago. Now I am a housing locator for individuals who want to do this. I recently assisted several people including a senior couple from Dubai.
I’m looking to relocate to Jamaica I just need some tips because I worked remotely and I just love Jamaica I’ve been over there so many times and I am ready to go
Hi Throp, It's a year later and I do want to echo what another viewer has said and that is you ask great questions, and you listen intently without interrupting your guests. It is such a calming and respectful thing to notice in all your interviews. Keep up the great work. Thank you for bringing us these inspirational stories about Jamaica. I plan to stay at Travellers one of these days when I travel to Negril. I have never been to Negril, even though I grew up in Kingston. ❤❤❤✔
Blessings! I just returned from JA in Feb. It was amazing, was there 21 days and can't wait to return. Just thinking abouth the remote possibility today so thank you for this video! :)
Beautiful interview- I LOVE the land of my birth 🇯🇲 and whilst I don’t know the country (no close/known family) as I would like, my husband & I visit yearly to the resorts; each time I visit as I exit the airport to board the transfer bus I’d have this unexplained overwhelming feeling (hard to explain) yet I just get so scared of the violences/deaths 😢 that I read & hear but I truly truly love and would love to be in JA more ❤️👍🏾🇯🇲 #OneLove
Hi there! Is there a video of someone explaining their experience with the documents and paperwork side of relocating to Jamaica? I’m looking to make the move within a year.
👩🏽🦱 Thanks for driving through Negril, Winthrop. As an American in Colorado, It’s probably difficult for Americans to drive in Jamaica, because we drive on the right side of the road, and we drive on the left side of our vehicles. Also, the roads do not have speed limits! 😅 That’s different from the U.S. Therefore, I wouldn’t feel comfortable as a driver in Jamaica. How do Americans adjust to driving in Jamaica?
