I am so glad you reacted to this collaboration between Home Free & The Oakridge Boys. "Elvira" was a huge hit for The Oakridge Boys in 1981. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free & it is like they are passing the baton to a younger version of themselves. They have performed together on the Grand Ole Opry. Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is the best in the business. He can simulate drums & any other sounds perfectly. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group. They are so talented yet very humble guys.

Some credit needs to be given to Geoff Castelucci, the bass singer from Voiceplay, for writing this arrangement for them. So it's really a 3 group collaboration.

I love how The Oakridge Boys got together with Home Free to do this version of their hit song from the 80's. Anything Home Free does is excellent but combining their talents in a cappella with the originals is a hell of a treat. The Oakridge Boys aren't really known for a cappella music but I''m sure with each of them being able to sing and with a gospel background they've sung in plenty of churches without many instruments. Even if you don't do a video of it do yourself the favor of watching the original of the song. As soon as I heard it on the radio in the 80's I became an instant fan of The Oakridge Boys. Although they've had other members over the decades the group has been around these 4 are the ones I enjoyed listening to the most.

I enjoyed your reaction. The bass for the Oakridge Boys used to be Elvis Presley's bass. This arrangement was done by the bass for Voiceplay, Geoff Castelucci. I especially loved Tim Foust's expression at the beginning. In a very old interview from 10 + years ago he said that his dream was getting to sing Elvira with the Oakridge Boys. So we were watching his dream come true! So sweet.

The Oak Ridge Boys are indeed the originators. Huge hit in the early 80's. They where more a hybrid group that used a combination of Acapella Techniques and Instrumentation. Very few Acapella Artists have not been influenced by the Oak Ridge Boys. They have been somewhat mentors to Home Free. Austin took his original part in the song hence his "How dare you" look... All in good fun. This was a bit of the metaphorical passing of the torch from one generation to the next.

Elvira was actually the name of a street, the songwriter just used for the name of the girl. I love when Richard does the last oom papa mawmaw and everyone turns to Tim and you see Adam drop his hand like Tim does as if to say "Go for it". You're right about forgetting there's no instruments. I showed my 6 yr old nephew Adam's drum solo and he was convinced Adam was playing invisible drums. Even his daddy who is drummer was extremely impressed. Great reaction!

The song was written in 1966 by Dallas Frazier and several artists including him did covers but the Oak Ridge Boys have made it their song with their cover in 1981. I remember it getting airplay all over including on pop stations. It is just a fun song. Everyone would sing along but especially to the bass Richard Sterban's, oompah oompah oompah mow mow!

The famous Oakridge Boys made the song Elvira famous....they are old now but still touring. Home Free can cover any genre out there and cover it well.....The Oaks had band back up always. My brother put me on to Home Free back around 2016 and he was slowiy dying with Agent Orange contracted in Viet Nam. He was in so much pain but any time I was there with him we sat and listened to his favorite group Home Free for hours. He would go through every track of them he could find on you tube. My last memory sitting with him in late 2017 before he passed was listening to Home Free and him saying best group in the world. Ronald Ray Hall died Christmas night 2017.

The Oak Ridge Quartet, later aka the Oak Ridge Boys, started out as a Country/Southern Gospel quartet in the 1940s. During the 50s and 60s they leaned a bit more Gospel, but moved back to Country in the 70s, although they never left Gospel behind completely. The lineup you see in this video has been together, except for brief breaks by individual members, since the late 1970s. They are still active and are members of several Hall of Fames.

Amazing reaction my friend Greg!!...I have seen your reactions to Dimash, the best male singer of the world (In my personal opinion)...Now I want to invite you to meet, who is considered one of the Best Female Singers of the World (The best in my personal opinion)...The passion and dedication when Dimash is performing a song can only be compared with the person who has influenced him to sing leaving everything on stage: His idol, the queen, the incomparable, the Goddess: Lara Fabian.....Lara is the best female singer and performer of the world...She is a lyric soprano with a amazing vocal range and incredible breath control...She speaks and composes in 5 languages and sings in more than 15 languages....That's why she is the inspiration for Dimash and several singers around the world...You can see covers of her songs on RU-vid made by singers of the stature of: Dimash, Diana Ankudinova, Polina Gagarina, Forestella, Sissel Kyrkjebo, Floor Jansen, Diana Navarro, Giulia Falcone, Morissette Amon, Gabriel Henrique, Rimar, Katrina Velarde, Cakra Khan and others...Please react to her songs, all masterpieces, in LIVE versions, because Lara is more impressive when she sings live, so you can see why she is the idol of Dimash...Try to do it in this order and almost all songs are from the same Lara’s concert “From Lara With Love” in Montreal 1999, one of her best works: 1) Je Suis Malade (Singing in French)...2) Caruso (Singing in Italian)...3) Je T'AIME (2002 Live version in Paris Singing in French)...4) Perdere L'Amore (1999 Live version Singing in Italian)...5) Adagio (1999 Live version singing in english)...6) Broken Vow (1999 Live version singing in English)...7) You are Not From Here (1999 Live version singing in English)...8) Quédate (1999 Live version singing in Spanish)....9) Ti Amo Cosi (2019 Live version Singing a trío with Dimash and Aida Garifullina)....I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Lara...Here you have the link of her amazing performance of the son>g “Je Suis Malade”....ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eHSyk4SGtuY.html

The ORB are the most well-known singers of Elvira, I don’t know if they were the original artists. Ya, they're doing a cover of a song originally by Dallas Frazier (1966) and covered in the 1970's by the Oak Ridge Boys. And I think the guy with the big white beard is one of the Oak Ridge Boys.
