I can honestly tell just by looking at him. The audio doesn't match up and his mouth is in the wrong forms for the sound he is making. I know this because I taught myself how to throat sing about 5 years ago out of pure curiosity.
I learned it too. I saw a video with a guy on a mountain doing it and that got me hooked. I even learned their high pitched overtone singing which I could already do from metal vocal techniques that use it. If you're driving a lot you can practice those things because you don't want anyone to hear it until it sounds good. lol
@@Alter_Dan_K You don't use your voice. When you clear your throat for example you're using the "false cords" you can make them vibrate against each other if you practice to engage them and control your air flow and make that sound. You probably made your lips vibrate before its the same principal just in your throat. There are youtube tutorials for that stuff and it's not very hard to learn. Metal vocals work with the same principle and the same tissue in your throat but its much harder to learn.
I'd be willing to bet that she never heard him do it before that. So that reaction was real. If some guy you knew for a while just busted that move out of the blue you would have just as good a reaction. If it was me I would have played it that way just for the reaction cos they filmed live.
I LOVE this sound! I cant find any other representation of throat singing as good and deep as this. I dont suppose anyone knows who actually voiced this amazing sound?
If you want to, look up 'THE HU ' they are a group of Mongolian throat singers. They did a song with the lead singer of papa roach called 'wolf's totem' it is amazing
Sad thing is half the people laughing at this will never actually see just how amazing this form of singing actually is because they will be too busy listening to Kesha and Usher's 90 percent synthetic voice..The human voice is an amazing thing when you actually learn to use it, these days people choose a "pretty" (ugly in my opinion) face over actual vocal ability because they have computers do the work.
+frogbear02 you are 100% right. I find this scene funny because Sheldon is generally funny and the way he acts so casually about his passions, which often alarm people but leave him absolutely nonplussed about it - like this singing. But after this episode I started looking for records of similar music, because goosebumps!
Sadly, you are right. I looked up Tuvan throat singing here after watching this episode. When done by experience singers in song form, I find it to be pretty captivating and even soothing!
***** It's a tricky subject, art. I personally believe in objective good in art, for example calling a modern art piece that is just 3 lines of black on a white canvas is not comparable to the works of say, Bob Ross, one is objectively better.
i have three instructions for anyone who wants to learn this vocal technique 1, look up "batzorig vanchig, chinggis khan" the technique is called "kargyraa throat singing" it uses the false cords in the throat, NOT the true vocal cords. the false cords, also known as the vestibular folds, sit ABOVE the true cords. ironically, false cords are used for both DEATH METAL vocals, AND kargyraa, both utilize the false cords. kargyraa uses them in a controlled, steady manner, death growls flap them haphazardly in more of a roaring sound. id recommend learning death growls first. (which is also cool as fuck) you have to learn how to feel what its like to use your false cords, (which makes a buzzing or roaring sound) AFTERWARDS, you can control them into a kargyraa. 2 look at the anatomy of the false cords and true cords, so you understand what is happening in your throat. 3 watch the video "riffshop, how to false cord" will help you safely feel your false cords. also, every singer has a "daily limit" your throat will get raw. drink lots of water, and get some cough drops. (i learned that trick from the lead vocalist of eluveitie) helps you heal up faster for the next day. part of being a good vocalist is knowing when to shut up and stop for the day. all in all, false cord took me a month to learn, and kargyraa came almost immediately after. next, its just about building up vocal endurance. i hope this helps, best wishes friends. 🤘 BEEEEEEEAAAANS WHAT THE FUCK
Turns out I've been doing this since I was six, thinking I found out how to growl like an animal. Only Sheldon's is more refined. I'm glad I know how to do it though. c:
