I know in the Video i say "factory seams" But.. what i mean to say is "folded"

I think the factory should start rolling the material up instead of folding it, there seems to be a huge issue doing folds.

IT made it Right at 2 Years , Then i pulled them down as i did not think they would last another winter. & I had plans to start the shop build this year... But was unable to get a builder Now wishing i did not pull them down so soon LOL!!!

For the amount of money some people spend on these and they buy multiple, they could just get a building built. I have had good success with these in the past for projects like an old car or something I’m working on outside.
@starpuss
@starpuss 3 года назад
They were VERY Cheap , I could not even build the floor for a 12x20 for the cost of both of the shelterlogics. I only plan to keep them up till i get my shop built.

Mine held almost 3 years, minor holes like u have. PVC helps a lot, mine was PE. Tarp over and 2x6 is the best idea. Last storm threw mine all over.

My Shelter Logic Garage-In-Box top failed within 8 months! No hail, high wind, snow, ice, branches or high heat. I wasn’t expecting much more than four years but this was unacceptable! Shelter logic sent me a new top within 10 days of putting in a warranty claim. To tell you the truth I have no confidence in the replacement. Any ideas why it would fail?

Great video. I'm in the process of building mine now-12x24x8....on sale at Canadian Tire :-) I used treated 6x4 ties and secured them with 2' long rebar. I live on Vancouver Island, so our weather is fairly mild, compared to your's.

Put a tarp on the outside and the shelter canopy will last longer. Because the Sun and weather are hitting the tarp and not the canopy itself

I've seen videos where people put an extra tarp on the top to protect from the sun. I wonder if we could paint the sunny parts of the tarp with white silicone paint?
@starpuss
@starpuss 2 года назад
I Thought about that! This weekend i am moving one of my tent sheds ,(Last weekend i moved the other) The last one i need to move is the 24' one.. I Looks VERY Dry looking and i am 90% sure it will destroy the top if i try to move it. , the 20' one i kinda killed the top during the winter almost right after this video when i punched the snow off it from the inside a little too hard..

This must be the standard cover that seems to be the source of all the bad reviews. I wonder how much longer the 2 upgraded covers last.

How long do you think something like this would last if I removed the tarp through the winter? Im looking at boat storage between April-October
@starpuss
@starpuss 4 месяца назад
Should get at least 3-4 years out of it i would think. Maybe longer if the sun is not on it as much.

Have mine for about 15 yrs. I am on my 4th tarp replacement. Here in Chicago its the intense summer sun cooking the tops of these covers. I believe it cooks the UV right out of the plastic and then its done . My most recent replacement I up graded to the 14oz vinyl w/ 10yr warranty for about $1000 !!!!!! lets go branden getting too old to replace the entry level ones every 3 yrs.

Those Shelter Logic units seem to be pretty nice for the most part. But for 400 dollars each, I'd expect them to have a more permanent material that can lost. Unfortunately, that material just proves the point, that these units are meant for just temporary use. Your going to really need to get your workshop built in the year 2021, otherwise you won't have any place to work if those units fall apart on you. Besides, a workshop build will give you some more video content for your channel.
@starpuss
@starpuss 3 года назад
I agree I brought them for Temporary use. I only thought they would last one year. I am thinking in 2021 i may just "start" My shop But like my dads shop when we built it... It took almost 5 years to get the inside done the way we wanted.
@stellarproductions8888
@stellarproductions8888 3 года назад
@@starpuss If a contractor took 5-years to build a workshop, they would be fired. So, I think if you just get a couple of guys, you should be able to knock it out in no longer then a few months. Remember, its not the space shuttle, it doesn't need to be perfect. It just needs to be functional, have utilities, and be able to be heated or cooled. Can't wait to see what you come up with though!
@bernardshearing3202

I had the exact same one. Totally failed after one winter. I did not know they sold them with heavier material and snow load rated. I have a new cover waiting to install. Hopefully this does better. Just a note, mine started with those white spots and pinholes then with the next windstorm and snow it ripped apart.
@starpuss
@starpuss Месяц назад
IF you want them to last , you need to keep the Tarp nice and tight , As mine that was Tight Lasted a LOT longer.
@bernardshearing3202
@bernardshearing3202 Месяц назад
Mine was kept very tight. It failed as a result of the UV rays deaerated the material very quick. I am doing the new install this week d and will be putting the heavy tarp under the new cover this time. Wish me luck .

How much snow can they handle on top ?
@starpuss
@starpuss Год назад
I have had 2.5FT on top. "many times" BUT I went to "push" from the inside to knock the snow off.. And Well Lets just say... That did not go well , Best to use shovel to move snow off it , or roof snow shovel As i damaged my top (split 3FT) from just taping the inside with that snow load.
