American Best vs German Best Tanks scenario was set up as part of tanks balance testing of CM Ardennes's campaign. Both sides I and RobZ made up our own Kampfgruppe or armored division, including whatever tanks we wanted, within a certain budget. This fun experiment does not represent a historical Ardennes 44 battle, despite the map itself being accurate, Foy-Notre-Dame, Germany furthers advance during that offensive. That said, you see Jagdtigers, Jagdpanthers, Tigers, Panthers - all the German best tanks going against the bigger quantity of US tanks.
RobZ decided to use M36 Jackson Tank Destroyers as his best chance to deal with heavy tanks and some Sherman E8, to suppress and advance.

Jackson's apcr can go through the jagtiger's mantlet, but at long distances it's quite difficult. It has to exactly hit only the flat part of the armour, otherwise it will just bounce off. Same applies for jagpanthers and panthers. They have to flank the jagtiger's to win this. My prediction? Germany will but with some tiger or panther losses, since the panther's side armour is very weak

No, it could not. "The T30E16 HVAP shot was capable of penetrating 221 mm of armor angled at 30 degrees from the vertical at 500 yards, and 199 mm of armor at 1,000 yards.The T30E16 HVAP round had difficulty with the highly sloped glacis plate of the German Panther tank, so the T33 AP shot was developed to solve this problem."

@@werrkowalski2985 The Mantlet, not the upper front plate of the hull. The only American guns that could penetrate the front of the Jagtiger's upper front plate are the 90mm gun on the super persing/T32, the 105mm gun on the T29, and the 120mm gun on the T34.

The jagdtiger was painfully slow moving and had a long reload time..incredibly thick armor but as likely to break down from its overtaxed engine as to die to enemy attack

@@Angry-Lynx there's a few occasions where jagdtigers raised hell. Chaumont comes in my mind, a little belgian town where a group of jagdtigers stopped the advance of the 4th AD to Bastogne. The americans were rerouted, but just bypassed them and kept going.

@@lyndoncmp5751 I think you're wrong, man. The 4th met many stugs on the way to Bastogne, all of which they were able to destroy. Seasoned tankers didn't mistake stugs for jagdtigers, specially talking about one of the best divisions that faced and destroyed stugs by the hundreds since operation cobra. Can you tell us your source to affirm the absence of jagdtigers in the bulge?

Loved the video @Warfare Gaming! Can't wait for the next video man! Love seeing the Sherman's, Jackson's, Panthers, Tigers, King Tigers and Panzer IV/70(A)'s in Men of War: Assault Squad 2. Nice to see some M-20 Utility Cars in here as well. Timeframe 4:10 seems to be when the Bloodbath starts and at 7:50-8:20 was something I could only describe as being an Unintentional (?) nod to "Fury" LMAO! The way the Easy Eight Shermans just rolled past that Jagdtiger just simply reminded me of that! The only thing that would have been the icing on the cake was having some Infantry along with the tanks.

Two Jacksons can engage a KT successfully. While the KT is aiming at one, the other can exploit a little spot of the side turret.

@@kanyewhite429 those weren't available in WWII (for the 90mm gun). But the 90mm regular AP could, theoretically, penetrate the front turret of a KT at very close ranges. Theoretically I say, because it never happened in combat

A Battle of the Bulge Veteran, a US tanker, told about a Jagdtiger hitting his M-4. He said his tank jolted, and he saw daylight through the turret. A round had hit and ricocheted, cracking his turret! He said they put in reverse and got out of there!

Wow great video! Really enjoyed it. Maybe some parts aren't realistic like a Tiger 2 getting penned from the front, same as the JagdTigers and the Jagdpanthers. Also the tiger 2 and JPanther both have the "long 88" or the high velocity 88mm gun which the american shermans could not just bounce off the frontal armour. The US would win this scenario only if they conducted a major flank because none of the german tanks (exept Tiger 1 and JadgPanzer) could be penned in the front by any of the US tanks. _- subscriber_

You forgot, Fine sir, that the Panther’s frontal armor couldn’t handle being hit by a 90mm shell either. So, the Panther wouldn’t survive that either. Also, if you didn’t notice the hit on the frontal hull of the Jagdtiger, it hit the machine gun port, which is a WEAKSPOT (I play World of Tanks, so I know this).

Well for the Tiger II on that hill with the 2 Jackson's below it; they were in the Perfect Position to get Lower Glasis Shots with basically zero effective sloping and a 90mm at that range will definitely sail right through that plate and the transmission barring a miracle.

Here's how it would go irl: Us recon would spot ger tanks. Call in heavy artillery and or air support. Ger tanks gets destroyed. Or german commander sees us forces and surrender whole unit earlier destroying all own equipment

Probably these are all the jagdtigers employed in the Ardennes. Operating such a clunky beast was stupid, specially for Germany in that point in the war. Why having an 128mm gun and 250mm armour, if an 88mm kwk43 can bust any Soviet or allied tank, of which none could pen 200mm at point blank?

No Jadgtigers were in the Ardennes. One trainload was earmarked to get there but it never arrived due to the rail lines being blocked so it was sent to the Saar region instead.

1918BARsam Seriously? You are citing a tv documentary as a source? The same documentary series that also claimed Tigers were at Arracourt too? When the nearest Tigers were hundreds of km to the north engaging the British in Market Garden? My source is The Combat History of Schwere Panzerjager Abteilung 653 by Karlheinz Munch. 653 was the only Jagdtiger unit earmarked to the Ardennes, but it got no closer than elements of its 3rd company reaching Blankrnheim on December 21st. It was then pulled back due to bombed out rail lines prohibiting its further movement into the Ardennes, and was redeployed to the Zweibrucken area. However, they were stuck in the Eifel/Moselle area for the rest of December.

Only the two Tiger IIs were truly invincible from the front, everything else had weakspots. The Jacksons' 90mm could have easily penned the Tiger Is' front glacis.

sjonnie playfull No Panthers at Prokhorovka. None of the three SS divisions at Prokhorovka had Panthers. Goodwood during Normandy saw a similar number of German tanks as at Prokhorovka, circa 300 or so.

Tbf, US TD battalions were supplied with HVAP pretty early on in the war. The only ammunition that wasnt provided to the Jacksons was the T3 solid shell, which was specifically made for the Pershings partaking in Operation Zebra.

@@retardcorpsman Zaloga apparently talks only about some of these rounds reaching M26 tanks late on in the war. Nothing about M36. Still, even if some did, then the tanks wouldn't have many of them.
