I'm still surprised that this is a random encounter theme, seriously, in most JRPG's this theme usually represents "the danger of battle" (although it's not something that dangerous), but this theme I feel represents the "heroism" of the characters, Shoji Meguro was really motivated to make the musics of Digital Devil Saga
Tbh, it's just that really. The embryon tribe are very competent in battle, so I feel like it makes sense to have a random encounter theme like this where this is just an everyday thing for them and they know they'll come out on top no matter what.
Also like in dds1 there is still that theme of danger but this feels like more of a spar or something. Kinda shows how the group is so advanced and used to battle that a battle to the death feels like sparring to them
@@milfmacron i prefer it to 2s, honestly DDS1s OST is probably my favorite megaten soundtrack due to the consistent atmosphere that pervades throughout every song (even the battle themes). Just because its not energetic doesn't mean its bad
That's a little extreme, and I say this as someone whose favorite SMT spin-off is DDS. In terms of being way too rocking for a random encounter theme, I'd say "Battlefield - Rushing Life" from 7th Dragon 2020-II takes the number one spot, even if this is my number three. For the record: my number two favorite random encounter song is Brain Hopper from Shadow Hearts, but that's more of an atmospheric piece than either this or Rushing Life. Wouldn't work nearly as well in a less dark game than SH.
My God. Shoji Meguro is such a master. When I listen to VG osts, I don't think I've ever found someone whose music I can listen to over and over again. I've never heard a song from him that I didn't like.
@@ronlynthekingofgames As someone who has played SMT Nocturne, Persona 2 Duology, and Falcom's YS Seven, I can confirm this. Even the desert theme in YS Seven is fantastic.
@@TheDeisasori since you seems to like RPGs, wanna try out the legend of heroes VI saga? That thing is proof that Falcom is first a music company then a game company....and their gameplay and story are as good as their music
@@ronlynthekingofgames I am interested in Trails series, and I've heard great things of it, especially the latest game. But at the same time, I also set my eyes on SMT V, YS IX, and if Bandai Namco decided to port Ace Combat games to Switch as their anniversary event, Oh Boy.
If the game wasn't amazing enough as it is... ...It would be worth for this music alone. It's impossible to not feel the urge to kick some serious butt while listening to this.
+ThinkBeyondOrdinary its like i can resist it but its still there but this is not as powerful and as awesome as the soundtrack for Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. but still this is damn good.
Alexis Joy Chandler go back to the disney games ^^ this is where the serious hardcore gamers gather to play metal gear any thing will never compare to this
Me Hearing Last Surprise for the 10th Time: Ugh okay fine I guess I'll buy the DLC so I can listen to different battle music Me Listening to Battle for Survival for the 500th time: LETS GO BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Heyzar Bahamala It's available on the US PSN. Probably you have an european store or you just didn't type it well. store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/shin-megami-tensei-digital-devil-saga-(ps2-classic)/cid=UP9000-NPUD20974_00-0000000000000000
Digital Devil Saga HD Duology when Atlus? Replaying this epic series on modern hardware would be amazing & this banging OST needs to be heard by more people
Just a few more views away from reaching the 1M mark, and this song absolutely deserves to cross that threshold. My kingdom for DDS to get any sort of acknowledgement from Atlus in this day and age.
These 2 games were my first megaten games. My dad owned both games on ps2 and so when I was like 8 i decided to pick up one and had no clue what I was doing. I picked up 2 because I didn't have much of a concept of playing games in order. I got to the battle and I may have died but holy shit did I love the battle theme. I dropped the game after that and just realised I had them after getting into persona via p5r and finding out that persona was a spinoff. Thus started my addiction to megaten. Still my favourite battle theme to this day and can't wait for smt v. Atlus please give us remaster. these games are my favourite megaten games.
SMT sadly always gets more views on its music than the games it actually sold. I believe Battle B2 from SMT IV has like more than 10x the views than it had sales, which is criminal because SMT IV is an incredible game.
Used to play this when I had either a hour left to turn in an assignment online in college or whenever I had a timed test online to finish in 30 minutes or less!
I liked the first game, but the PAL version was so damn slow, and the difficulty curve toward the end was ridiculous. So imagine my surprise when Digital Devil Saga 2 starts up running silky-smooth, and with a kickass soundtrack to boot. So far, I much prefer this over the original's battle theme.
This theme and New Battle from Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha Vs. King Abaddon (ft. Demifiend from Devil May Cry series) are my favourites battle themes from all megaten games!
I've never played a "true" SMT game yet (gonna get to that after I play through all of the mainline Persona games), but GODDAMN this might be one of my favourite battle themes ever
