THE STORY: August 13, 2013, Grünerløkka, Oslo, Norway:
Shining performing their single "I Won't Forget" on location where their studio and rehearsal rooms are being torn down to make apartments, along with fifty other studios.
Shining think it's a pity that another building with arts and music are being torn down, and are fighting to keep the creative environment alive in these buildings. "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." (Theo C.) We won't forget the silence of the government with this case.
The clip is filmed in one take without any editing. Audio is recorded with only one stereo mic for the band and one mic on vocals and sax. It's as real as you get.
Produced and directed by Jonas Bødtker for NRK P3 as part of the series "P3 Spanderer"

Hehe! Glad you like it! It's a great little clip! Actually the first video that started a series of "Live On Location" videos that we did after that. The idea was to play aggressive and technically demanding music in uncontrollable environments, to try to make it even more interesting and energetic. Usually technical music is performed in spaces that are very controlled, and I thought that was a bit boring. So we did this place, and a live concert (40 minutes) at Trolltunga, and a song in the desert between San Fransisco and Los Angeles. Then I started making softer and more melodic music, and the "Live On Location" idea didn't work that well anymore. So there you go!

@@ShiningNorway yeah and I love each of them. You felt a bit boring but for me (even these days) was "yeah! why not? It rocks solid even there!" Started simple but great. I always wanted to ask: On mic looks great but how was there? cause the acoustic sounds really good for a construction site hahahaha Still cheer for you guys to do awesome (even softer I still like your songs). Hugs from Brazil o/ (ah, the crowd cheering at the break makes me smile everytime hehe)

Hehe! The Pakistani guy smiling is the neighbor who was running a kebab shop in the next building. I think he's still there, even though all the studios was smashed down. The sound you hear in this video is how it sounded. The only mics we had for this recording was the mics on the camera and one clip on mic on my shirt, so it's pretty real. Hope to be playing with Shining in Brazil soon!

Well, I'm not a big fan of this kind of music, but I must admit THAT MUCH of emotional and powerful performance, especially it's live. I wonder how does that feel when you randomly walk somewhere in Norway and walk right in some place with Shining playing live on a pile of bricks lol. And somehow you remind me Metallica.

Are we watching the same video? Because in the one I saw, Jørgen sounded better than most live singers ON TOP of being energetic AND trading off two instruments. Who are you comparing this guy to that you think he sucks so much? Trent Reznor?

Also, are you guys fucking kidding me? He HAS to be using a mic for vocals, even if they're playing quieter than usual and outside he wouldn't be heard THAT well without it - drums aren't a quiet instrument. They also said in the description that there is a mic on sax and on his vocals, so it's probably an earpiece he's using - that, or a clip-on mic on his shirt

FLIPPITYFLOOP Yeah reasonably played unamplified drums easily reach the 120dB mark which would be pretty hard to match with just your voice, without sacrificing all nuance that is.

There're two groups named Shining man. I thing that the one you're talking about is the one from Sweden. This is Shining from Norway with two full-lenght albums full of black jazz.

Their earlier work is less established but more interesting if you ask me. Either way, their the best band around right now in the world(except for the new King Crimson line-up of course).
