April 19 -- Tuesday evening, Sotheby's will host what it calls its 'Magnificent Jewels' sale in New York City featuring an iconic blue diamond ring. The sale comes just months after the auction house sold another blue diamond for a record $48.6m. Can Sotheby's usher in another record breaking sale? Kelly Belknap reports.

Blue diamond is not the rarest. There are fewer cases of red diamonds. What about naturally occurring moissanite? -Only a couple samples discovered ever

BUY NOW WHY SUPPLIES LAST: Shiny rock hat. [tiara] seriously if it's your own money do what you want with it but I think this kind of spending actually hurts the economy and doesn't help it. we have a record-breaking profits and so much of those record-breaking profits at so many companies are not being put back into the workers or society; it's sinking to the ocean floor money.

+Liz C I work at one of Americans biggest retail jewelers. Its a mega corporation that made 5 billion dollars last year. They are based out of Delaware and the Bahamas so they dont pay any tax and they pay be the bare minimum with zero benefits. How am I suppose to start business or improve my community or better myself when there isnt any meaning employment?

BLUE diamonds aren't 'the rarest gems in the world.' RED diamonds are rarer. I would expect better information from Bloomberg than this.

According to the GIA (Gemological Institute Of America) a pure orange diamond with no tints of brown is twice rarer than red diamond making it the rarest diamond. So I guess I know better than Bloomberg.
