Shohei's parents must be bursting with pride seeing what their son has done and is doing. Japanese children are supposed to be "The Healthiest children on the Planet" (which they attribute most to their healthy diet). Plus his parents must have also taught him his good manners and modest demeanor.
The decision to rob Shohei Ohtani of being a two-way player is the dumbest decision made by the Dodgers owner and team manager. If it were their intention in the first place, they could have gotten Ohtani for $500 million for 10 years instead of $700 million. They could have saved $200 million! Making Ohtani only a hitter instead of a two-way player will remove a lot of the attraction of fans and advertising money to the Dodgers. This is a lose-lose situation. What a stupid move by the owner and manager! They should allow Ohtani to be a two-way player for at least three more years. Then, after that, or if he does not produce as a pitcher, make him a hitter only. When they negotiated the $700 million contract, I wonder if they discussed/agreed on Ohtani being a two-way player or just a hitter. If they agreed with Ohtani playing as a two-way player, they pulled a fast one on Ohtani. There is no "skin off his nose" because he gets the $700 million whether he plays as a two-way or a one-way player. However, the mystique and magic will evaporate if they continue to pull that stunt on Shohei. We all know he wants to be a two-way player, so he should be able to do that for at least three more years. Old fans who had quit watching Dodger baseball have returned because of Shohei Ohtani. They will again disappear. New fans like me will also stop watching the Dodgers. The fan base following by the Japanese in Japan will also subside drastically as will the advertising dollars. How stupid can the Dodgers owner and team manager be? Very stupid, indeed! As Forrest Gump said, "Stupid is as stupid does." Bye-bye Dodgers! Your top management sucks!
