If you want to shoot beautiful forest portraits using a flash, this is the video for you. This video is a continuation of a video from a shoot I did a couple of weeks prior, where I photographed Marilyn in the forest. This time we play around with props and with a flash, to make the portraits pop. For props we used a Peruvian poncho and a red lantern. For the speedlight I used a Nikon SB 700 with no diffuser on it. By adding a diffuser I would have made the subject softer, but this time I preferred a crisp subject in contrast with the forest. Using a flash when shooting environmental portraits, makes your subject stand out better and makes the colors pop more. I had my flash set at 1/4 power for the whole shoot and adjusted the exposure on the subject by moving the flash closer to her or further away depending on what I needed.
