This looks like a really fun tool to use for macro Wildlife video shots!! Thanks for sharing!

Potentially. I could see that working. I've used this and the syrp motion-slider. Not sure either are smooth enough for macro work, but maybe. This is a tad smoother than the syrp unit. I haven't tested that application yet though.

I find it disconcerting that you state several times that "since this is not sponsored" you will be as honest as possible. As if you are not honest if it were to be sponsored. I don't wanna read to much into it tho. None the less, nifty design on that thing =)

Well, I guess in the past we had been sponsored by different product companies. I suppose we felt the need to point out that this was different. Good point though.

Unique in the fact that's it's also a monopod, but at $500, it's more expensive than a lot of the others on the market. I've wanted one for a couple of years, and finally bought one from Neewer that uses standard Sony NP-F batteries, will do both constant motion and timelapse motion movements. It also came with all of the camera adapter cables that they could think of -- it came with six or seven cables, including ones for both my Nikon and Panasonic cameras. And, it's belt- rather than screw-driven, so it's much quieter than that one, even at its high speed. I know, it's made in China, but most things are these days. But I bought it to see how much use I will get out of it, since I'm not a professional film maker, and it seemed like a good deal at $280 at Amazon. The app works well on my iPhone, and I'm going to install and test it on my Android tablet as well. I watch all of your videos, and I always learn something from you guys, and I appreciate that very much. But in this case, we just happen to disagree. But I hope that I have been able to voice that in a civil and respectful manner.

Going to look that one up. You're talking about a similar monopod/slider? Couldn't seem to find what you're talking about though...

I didn't mean to create and apples/oranges situation here. No, it is not a monopod/slider, just a standard two-rail slider. It must have gotten popular, though, 'cause it's gone up $10 in the week or so since I bought it. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QGDG9C1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Love the idea of this but I think they priced it a bit too high. It's also a bit of a bummer how loud the motor it is making it pretty much a no go for interviews at least for me. Great idea just not quite sold on their execution. Thanks for the video!!
@shelekhov

Considering it uses a cheap actuator of course you paying for an "innovative idea"
@Veptis
@Veptis 4 года назад
This video is more like a show and tell rather then an actual report about how it's useful in a real situation. I am all for innovation, but this isn't there yet.
@shelekhov
@shelekhov 3 года назад
Put a 200mm lens on it and then compare to a slider. The thing will shake like crazy. ;) You can build that toy from the actuator for 20 USD.

Suggestion: Use constant closeups and extreme closeups to show the device and what you're doing with it. Important in order for a tutorial to be effective. Also, I think your filming camera could use an ND filter. God bless you guys! :)

Interesting piece of gear and a nice introduction to it! You mentioned it being a bit loud, and it was definitely noticable when your mic was up by the motor. How does the noise level compare to some other sliders you've used? If the mic isn't right on top of it, does it still pick up the motor noise?
@UntamedScience
@UntamedScience 4 года назад
I don't really use sliders for interviews, do I think it's a tad unfair to imply it's subpar on that front. If you do use sliders for interviews, the edelkrome is good for that.

It is WAY too loud. I think only useful in shooting without sound, such as landscapes or architecture, but I wouldn't use it in an interview.

a) great gadget, I'm only worried about it's endurance... (durability? whatever) b) the guy filming has it's barely moving being handheld and all. what the hell.

Can't answer a, but b... what were you trying to say? It's moving too much or not much? I have answers to both!

@@robnelsonfilms Sorry, english not being my native language. I meant that he was moving very very little for being handheld, and out in the open (could have wind) AND using the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV which is not stabilized in the body. Amazing.

Thanks for sharing. It’s too loud for my needs but I can see the useful when not interviewing. I just think it would be distracting when interviewing someone.

For something that's not sponsored, it sounds like you were trying your best to shill this. For 5 benjies, it's way too much. Cut that price in half and maybe I'll think about it but, even at that price, there are a lot of sliders that do a better job than this. You can get sliders that travel 12 inches for less than 200 bucks. Pay a hundred bucks more and you get parallax effect and stop-go shooting. And did I mention that they're much more silent than the Slypod? The noise this thing makes handicaps it a lot. Good luck shooting interviews, weddings, film productions, or anything else where audio is crucial. If you're a hobbyist, the Slypod is too expensive. If you're a pro, it's kinda limiting. I love the portability but, for a slider that travels less than a foot, there are other options just as light and much cheaper.
@shelekhov

crazy overpriced. You can build something like that so easy.

the part has its authorization, but I know better accessories! You are sponsored by me. from me therefore a dislike!
