Really enjoying these expose' type vids like wet dry vacs and pressure washers. I have a similar Craftsman vac for auto detailing, clearing up spills etc. for the home gamer they perform very well.

Wet pick up: thanks for showing the reality. The float in the cage does not shut off the vac, it just blocks the intake to stop the suction. But it's often too late: the water already in the hose overflows the bucket and it's too full to move around. I learned that the hard way, so I stop the vac before it's all full. That's another reason I prefer the hose going into the lid: the bucket holds more liquid without spilling out the hose inlet on the side of the bucket.

I have a Craftsman shop shop vac I bought 25 years ago - still performs like a champ but I gotta change the filter out often - I have cats. :) Works great for cleaning out the leaves that get on my cowl intake or in any other exterior underhood areas on both the car and the truck Thanks for the vid!

Nice succinct review. I have what must now be approaching a 25 year old Craftsman 16 gallon vac. Probably 65/35 dry wet usage over the years. The hose is in the "lid" rather than at the top of the canister making it easy to use and empty, when not using the drain. I have been looking at vacs lately because you never know when that day will come. No one is more amazed than me that this one still works and works extremely well. I have no doubt that no matter what I replace it with, it will not last as long. I can say that about anything I own; tools, appliances, etc. I would say that while paying attention to duty cycles is important, paying attention to your filter is at least as important. I do blow then out with air every 4 or 5 uses. A change is more of a guess based on its looks after I blow it out but works out to about once every other year. I realize the year doesn't mean much if you use yours more or less than I do. Maybe they should add an hour meter. 😂

Thanks for the OEM (original equipment mfrg) list. My dad's Ridgid wet/dry vac from Home Depot has a paper label for "Ridgid" but the domed top looks the same as current Workshop, even to the tug-a-long hose (with the clip-latch only on the vac end, not on the tool/nozzle end like new ones).

Still running my Craftsman 16 gal after 30 years.

You mentioned accessories. I found that nearly all 2 1/2 inch nozzles, tubes and hoses work together just fine, regardless of mfgr. The only obstacle is how new nozzles tend to have the tug-a-long lock, thus hoses coming with ends with and without the lock-clip. It's so sad that all Sear's and K-Mart stores are gone, for they sold the full line of vac accessories such as the handle that makes using the 2.5" hoses so much easier and comfortable. Home Depot and Lowe's keeps reducing their accessory selection. No fun 😞

If there's one thing, made in usa, that still means quality, it's those emerson vacs. I have a 12 years old ridgid stainless one, left it oustside under a storm, drained my spa with it, overfilled it, forgot to put filter in while sucking heavy dust, that thing just keeps doing its job forever.

The new craftsman vacs look nice, the older generation were noisy like a jet engine!

So I've got birds. In particular, a Moluccan Cockatoo. He scatters food, it's what they do in nature and what they'll do in your home. I built him a large hanging play gym in our "Florida Room". His food includes large pellets, fruit, veggies, and whole nuts (walnuts, brazil nuts, hazelnuts, and so on) that he likes to crack and scatter the shells of. So I'm looking for something that will suck all that up easily, without harm to the vacuum, not too heavy, and that will last a long time. I've watched like, at least two dozen videos and I'm just not sure yet because nothing is specific to what I'm looking for. Thoughts anyone?

Emerson makes the best vacs on the market. Shop Vac was once a USA manufacturer, but they sold to China, and production went there. Emerson is still a USA company, and they make their wet/dry vacs in their own factory.

I noticed you didn't use the foam filter in place of the paper filter?..why not?..are you supposed to? Why or why not?

While the nozzles and tubes are a full 2 1/2 inch diameter, check the hose. Mine are only 2 1/4 inch diameter but have 2 1/2" ends. I wish I had the phone company tape measure: it was in pi-inches so measuring around things gave the diameter! No caliper needed.

Any idea the size of the screws that attach the filter to the lid?

People really seem to like the Bauer vacuums..I like my Ridgid..but the Bauer are actually good vacs.. Thanks for the review Brian...Craftsman makes better vacs too...👍
